Аннотация: Meiosis in Siberian fir is characterized by asynchrony (prophase I and tetrads in the same microsporangium simultaneously). Up to 4 nucleoli (in naturals stands) and 5 (in an arboretum) are observed at prophase I. The shortest meiotic stages are telophase I and 2. Each of them is observed in 0.2% (in an arboretum) and 0.05% (in natural stands) of cells. In natural stands meiosis elapses quickly (within 2 days). In an arboretum it can continue for more than two weeks. Mainly meiosis is regular. Meiotic irregilarities are, though, also encountered at different stages (fragments, bridges, etc.). In trees growing in an arboretum the total number of irregular cells can reach 17.9%. In natural populations only 11.7-13.3% of cells are irregular. The spectrum of meiotic irregularities in an arboretum is wider than in natural stands.

Аннотация: The prolongation of the warm season during autumn, which has become typical for Siberia in the past 5-6 years, has caused changes in the terms of reproductive processes in microsporangia of Scotch pine in the Krasnoyarsk region. Meiosis has started to begin in the autumn of the year preceding pollination, and then come to an end the next spring, whereas usually this process has occurred in the spring of the year of pollination. Under such conditions the division of microsporocytes is accompanied by different abnormalities, causing various anomalies and the incomplete development of pollen grains.

Аннотация: Investigating the tolerance of plant reproductive systems to environmental changes has become a research priority under current climate change scenarios. Successful plant conservation requires knowledge of plant reproductive biology, particularly the meiotic characteristics of planted species. Meiosis, as part of microsporogenesis, is a critical plant developmental stage controlling future pollen quality. Meiosis in a Siberian fir (Abies sibirica) plantation, established in the Forest Arboretum of the Sukachev Institute, Russia, was studied from 2002 to 2004. The microsporogenesis pattern found for the Siberian fir appeared to be largely similar to that exhibited by other conifer species. Meiosis in the Siberian fir has the following characteristics: asynchrony, rapid progression of telophases I and II, and parallel and linear spindle arrangements at different meiosis II stages. General and specific meiosis irregularities were recorded at each stage. Some specific features of meiosis and the specific development of some irregularities were revealed. Pollen development analysis showed that irregular pollen grains made up less than 1% of all grains. The specific features of meiosis identified in fir trees growing in the Arboretum indicated low resistance of male reproductive structures to climatic changes and might account for high fir pollen sterility in this new environment. Аннотация: Studies of microsporogenesis in the Siberian larch growing in Krasnoyarsk and its suburbs have shown that meiosis starts in October. Microsporocytes winter at prophase I (leptoneme, diploneme). Reduction divisions in male generative buds are resumed and terminated in spring, in March. However, in the case of thaws during the autumn-winter period, meiotic division proceeds in the larch buds and this leads to the formation of degrading tetrads and pollen. Hence, the organic quiescence is absent in the larch in winter. It was shown that in the larch growing in the city, meiosis proceed more asynchronously than in the background tree stands. An increase of chromosomal aberrations during the reduction division was noted under the conditions of technogenic pollution.

Аннотация: Пихта сибирская (Abies sibirica Ledeb.) в горах Южной Сибири характеризуется низким качеством семян. Исследования динамики формирования женских генеративных структур позволяют определить особенности и критические этапы развития семян, а также установить причины нарушений, приводящих к их низкому качеству. Изучено развитие женских генеративных почек и мегаспорогенеза у пихты сибирской в экосистемах гор Южной Сибири. Выявлено, что темпы развития генеративных структур у пихты определяются температурой воздуха, при этом сроки варьируют по годам и в зависимости от локальных погодно-климатических условий произрастания. Мейоз при мегаспорогенезе проходит весной и завершается до опыления. Особенностью мейоза является асинхронность делений не только у разных деревьев, но и в пределах одного мегастробила. Нормальное строение и развитие женских генеративных структур определяют высокий репродуктивный потенциал вида

The results of the investigations of meiosis at microsporogenesis in Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) under introduction are presented. The meiosis in the Siberian spruce plantation established in the Forest Arboretum of the Sukachev Institute, Russia, was studied in 2018. The microsporogenesis pattern found for the Siberian spruce appeared to be largely similar to that exhibited by other conifer species. The meiosis in the Siberian spruce has the following characteristics: identification of all stages of prophases I; asynchrony in different trees as well as in different meiocytes of the same tree and the same microsporangium; parallel and perpendicular as well as linear spindle arrangements at different meiosis II; irregularities of development at different stages. Some specific meiosis irregularities have never been revealed in natural populations of Central Siberia. The investigations of plant ontogenesis in new conditions of growth show the response of the plants on climate change. The specific features of meiosis identified in the spruce trees growing ex situ indicated high resistance of male reproductive structures to climatic changes. © 2020, Komarov Botanical Institute. Аннотация: Обобщены результаты кариологических и цитогенетических исследований в популяциях видов хвойных семейств Pinaceae и Cupressaceae из экстремальных условий произрастания. У хвойных, произрастающих у южной и северной границ ареалов на экологическом пределе распространения, в антропогенно нарушенных экосистемах, в условиях интродукции, выявлена хромосомная изменчивость, обнаружены геномные и хромосомные мутации различного типа. Отмечены высокая частота изменений числа хромосом (миксоплоидия, анеуплоидия и полиплоидия) и их морфологии. Найдены различные типы хромосомных аномалий (кольцевые и полицентрические хромосомы, фрагменты, множественные хромосомные аномалии), агглютинация хромосом, появление В-хромосом, нарушения митоза и мейоза. С использованием классических методов и флуоресцентной гибридизации in situ (FISH) проведены исследования полиморфизма нуклеолярных районов хромосом, выявлены особенности локусов генов 5S и 45S рибосомной РНК.
Results of karyological and cytogenetical studies in populations of conifer species of Pinaceae and Cupressaceae families from extreme conditions are summarized. In conifers growing in southern and northern borders of areas, on ecological limits of distribution, in anthropogenically disturbed ecosystems, at the introduction, chromosome variability is revealed. A high frequency of changes in the number of chromosomes (mixoploidy, aneuploidy and polyploidy) and their morphology were noted. Different types of chromosome anomalies (ring and polycentric chromosomes, fragments, multiple chromosome irregularities), B-chromosomes occurrence, irregularities of mitosis and meiosis are found. Using classical methods and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), studies of the polymorphism of the nucleolar regions of chromosomes were carried out, and features of the loci of the 5S and 45S ribosomal RNA genes were revealed.
