Аннотация: To predict the future vegetation change and biomass production in Siberian "permafrost Taiga", we evaluate the temperature effects on the growth and gas exchange characteristic of dominant species of larch and spruce under the contrasting north- and south-facing slope in Tura Experiment Forest in eastern Siberia. Soil temperature at 0-5 cm depth of north-facing slope was 2-5C lower. Needle length of larch and spruce grown on north-facing slope was longer than on south-one. There was no difference in the needle density.

Annual ring growth of Larch trees grown on the contrasing North- and South-facing slopes in Eastern Central Siberian Taiga under global changing environment
: материалы временных коллективов / O. A. Zyryanova, A. S. Prokushkin, A. P. Abaimov // Proceedings of the eighth symposium on the joint Siberian permafrost studies between Japan and Russia in 1999. - Onogawa, 2000. - С. 23-28. - рус. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: We measured annual ring with of larch trees growing on the contrasing north-and south-facing slopes. Moreover, we also examined wood anatomy of stems of larch seedlings raised under high CO2 in phytotron for two years. Based on these results, we can predict the effect of greenhouse condition on the annual ring formation of larch species.

Performance of various methods of fire weather danger rating in the South Lake Baikal forests
: abstract / T. M. Sofronova // Enviromis. International conference on environmental observations, modelling and information systems, Tomsk, Russia, July 1-8, 2006: program and abstracts. - 2006. - С. 97

Аннотация: We tested Russian indices: Nesterov index (PN, 1968), Leningrad Research Institute index PV-1, 1975), Krasnoyarsk Forest Institute index (PVG, 1990) as well as Canadian index (FWI,1987) - in the South Lake Baikal area on the territory of the Sludyanka Forest Office (351 thousand ha). The performance criterion was the correlation between the index value and the average daily number of active fires (according to index gradations) within spring and summer-autumn periods of a fire season. Weight of every point was teken into account. None of the methods tested showed the superior overall performance. A new method of local scales elaborated in V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest, Krasnoyarsk was used.

Dark needle conifer invasion into larch dominated communities as response to climate trends
: материалы временных коллективов / M. L. Dvinskaya, S. T. Im // Workshop on climate change, the tree growth response, and reconstruction of climate 25-29 January 2006, V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest SB RAS, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. - Krasnoyarsk : V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest SB RAS, 2006. - С. 34

Аннотация: The results show that Siberian pine and spruce have high K1 values both along the margin and in the center of zones of absolute larch dominance. There is tendency of K1 to increase. for DNC and birch from south to north and from west to east. Scots pine did not significantly penetrate into the zone of larch dominance.

Wildfire dynamics in mid-siberian larch dominated forests
: материалы временных коллективов / V. I. Kharuk, K. J. Ranson, M. L. Dvinskaya // Environmental change in Siberia: earth observation, field studies and modelling. - Dordrecht et. al. : Springer, 2010. - С. 83-100. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: The long-term wildfire dynamics, including fire return interval (FRI), in the zone of larch dominance and the "larch-mixed taiga" ecotone were examined. A wildfire chronology encopassing the fifteenth through the twentieth centuries was developoed by analyzing tree stem fire scars. Average FRI determined from stem fire scar dating was 82 +,- 7 years in the zone of larch dominance. FRI was found to be dependent on site topography. FRI on north-east facing slopes in the zone of larch dominance was 86 +,- 11 years. FRI was siignificantly less on south-west facing slopes at 61 +,- 8 years and flat terrain at 68 +,- 14 years. The implications of the observed trends on the larch community are discussed.

Siberian pine and larch response to climate warming in the Southern Siberian mountain forest: tundra ecotone
: материалы временных коллективов / V. I. Kharuk [и др.] // Environmental change in Siberia: earth observation, field studies and modelling. - Dordrecht et. al. : Springer, 2010. - С. 115-132. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: The tree response to climate trends is most likely observable in the forest-tundra ecotone where temperature limits tree growth. Here we show that trees in the forest-tundra ecotone of the mid of the south Siberian Mountains responded strongly to wasrmer temperatures during the past two decades. There was a growth increment increase, stand densification, regeneration propogation into the alpine tundra, and transformation of prostrate Siberian pine, larch and fir into another arboreal forms.

Climatic and geographic patterns of spatial distribution of precipitation in Siberia
: материалы временных коллективов / A. A. Onuchin, T. A. Burenina // Environmental change in Siberia: earth observation, field studies and modelling. - Dordrecht et. al. : Springer, 2010. - С. 193-210. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: Climatic and geographic patterns of the spatial precipitation distribution in Central Siberia are studied on a regional level. Computer models of spatiall precipitation distribution were developed for the Yenisei Mountain Chain, Eastern Sayan, and the South-eastern Trans-Baikal region. Owing to irregular spatial distribution of precipitaion three groups of landscapes were defined: (1) slopes of west, north-west aspect with orographic precipitation; (2) shadow slopes in mountain regions; (3) plain landscapes. Obtained equautions show correlations between the amount of precipitation and altitude, geographical latitude, distance from barrier ridge and other parameters.

Isoenzyme diversity and differentiation of Marsh Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) population in the Western Siberia
: материалы временных коллективов / A. Ya. Larionova, A. K. Ekart // Eurasian Journal of Forest Research. - 2011. - Vol.14-1. - С. 21-28. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: Genetic diversity and defferentiation of Scotch pine populations situated on eutrophic, mesetrophic, oligotrophic swamps and on dry land in south-taiga subzone of Western Siberia lowland (Tomsk region) were srudied on the basis of allozyme variation analysis at 20 loci. The most essential distinctions in genetic structure were revealed between populations of Scotch pine growing under contrast conditions of water-mineral nutrition on eutrophic and oligotrophic swamps as well as between populations situated on the various oligotrophic swamps. The obtained results testify to considerable genetic heterogeneity studied in Tomsk region of marsh populations of Scotch pine.

Аннотация: In this study we present the analysis of meteorological data obtained during 2 years of measurements at ZOTTO observatory. It was found that continental polar air dominates in study area and results in the strong radiation cooling in winter time. The microclimatic features showed the continental conditions in the region. The wind rose demonstrated South-East wind direction as dominating which could be associated with influence of the Siberian High. Due to relatively high homogeneity of landscape in study region the analyzed data set of meteorological variables is valid for the tall tower footprint and will be used for further study of GHG's behavior over Central Siberian forest ecosystems.

Аннотация: Stable Ca and radiogenic Sr isotope compositions were measured in different compartments (stream water, soil solutions, rocks, soils and soil leachates and vegetation) of a small permafrost-dominated watershed in the Central Siberian Plateau. The Sr and Ca in the area are supplied by basalt weathering and atmospheric depositions, which significantly impact the Sr isotopic compositions. Only vegetation significantly fractionates the calcium isotopes within the watershed. These fractionations occur during Ca uptake by roots and along the transpiration stream within the larch trees and are hypothesised to be the result of chromatographic processes and Ca oxalate crystallisations during Ca circulation or storage within plant organs. Biomass degradation significantly influences the Ca isotopic compositions of soil solutions and soil leachates via the release of light Ca, and organic and organo-mineral colloids are thought to affect the Ca isotopic compositions of soil solutions by preferential scavenging of Ca-40. The imprint of organic matter degradation on the delta Ca-44/40 of soil solutions is much more significant for the warmer south-facing slope of the watershed than for the shallow and cold soil active layer of the north-facing slope. As a result, the available stock of biomass and the decomposition rates appear to be critical parameters that regulate the impact of vegetation on the soil-water system in permafrost areas. Finally, the obtained delta Ca-44/40 patterns contrast with those described for permafrost-free environments with a much lower delta Ca-44/40 fractionation factor between soils and plants, suggesting specific features of organic matter decomposition in permafrost environments. The biologically induced Ca isotopic fractionation observed at the soil profile scale is not pronounced at the scale of the streams and large rivers in which the delta Ca-44/40 signature may be controlled by the heterogeneity of lithological sources.
