Soil and canopy CO2, 13CO2, H2O and sensible heat flux partitions in a forest canopy inferred from concentration measurements
/ J.M. Styles et al, O. Shibistova // Tellus. Series B: Chemical and physical meteorology. - 2002. - Vol. 54B, № 5. - С. 655-676

Аннотация: A canopy scale model is presented that utilises Lagrangian dispersal theory to describe the relationship between source distribution and concentration within the canopy. The present study differs from previous studies in three ways: (1) source/sink distributions are solved simultaneously for CO2, (CO2)-C-13, H2O and sensible heat to find a solution consistent with leaf-level constraints imposed by photosynthetic capacity, stomatal and boundary layer conductance, available energy and carbon isotopic discrimination during diffusion and carboxylation; (2) the model is used to solve for parameters controlling the nonlinear source interactions rather than the sources themselves; and (3) this study used plant physiological principles to allow the incorporation of within- and above-canopy measurements of the C-13/C-12 ratios Of CO2 as an additional constraint. Source strengths Of CO2, H2O, sensible heat and (CO2)-C-13 within a Siberian mixed-coniferous forest were constrained by biochemical and energy-balance principles applied to sun and shaded leaves throughout the canopy. Parameters relating to maximum photosynthetic capacity, stomatal conductance, radiation penetration and turbulence structure were determined by the optimisation procedure to match modelled and measured concentration profiles, effectively inverting the concentration data. Ground fluxes Of CO2, H2O and sensible heat were also determined by the inversion. Total ecosystem fluxes predicted from the inversion were compared to hourly averaged above-canopy eddy covariance measurements over a ten-day period, with good agreement. Model results showed that stomatal conductance and maximum photosynthetic capacity were depressed due to the low temperatures experienced during snow melt; radiation penetrated further than simple theoretical predictions because of leaf clumping and penumbra, and stability effects were important in the morning and evening. The inversion was limited by little vertical structure in the concentration profiles, particularly of water vapour, and by co-dependence of canopy parameters.

Growth dynamics of conifer tree rings. Images of past and future environments
: монография / E. A. Vaganov, M. K. Hughes, A. V. Shashkin. - Berlin ; Heidelberg : Springer, 2006. - 358 с. : ил., табл. - (Ecological studies : analysis and Synthesis, ISSN 0070-8356 ; vol. 183). - Библиогр.: с. 311-342. - ISBN 3-540-26086-2 : Б. ц.

Аннотация: Each tree ring contains an image of the time when the ring formed, projected onto the ring's size, structure, and composition. Tree rings thus are natural archives of past environments, and contain records of past climate. While dendrochronologists have investigated the impact of climate on tree-ring growth by empirical-statistical methods. This volume presents a process-based model complementing previous approaches. Basic ideas concerning the biology of tree-ring growth and its control by environmental factors are treated, especially for conifers. The use of the model is illustrated by means of several examples from widely differing environments, and possible future directions for model development and application are discussed. The volume provides an improved mechanistic basis for the interpretation of tree rings as records of past climate. It advances process understanding of the large-scale environmental control of wood growth. As forests are the main carbon sink on land, the results are of great importance for all global change studies.

Short-term microbial kinetics of soil microbial respiration - A general parameter across scales
: сборник научных трудов / H. Santruckova, O. B. Shibistova // Tree species effects on soils: implications for global change. - 2005. - С. 229-246. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: Microbial parameters derived from the short-term Michaelis-Menten type model are tested and applied on the ecosystem study Soil dried immediately after sampling and stored at 4 graduate C was moistened to 60% water holding capacity and CO2 production was measured (GC) after 24 h (respiration response to water supply, Vds). The glucose was added into the soil and CO2 production was measured 16 to 24 h later (maximum respiration, Vmax). Substrate saturation kinetics of respiration was measured after addition of glucose in 6 different concentrations. Soil heterotrophic respiratory potential was expressed as Vds/Vmax ratio; biologically available C (ACbr) and potential flush of the biologically available C (ACds/ACbr) was estimated using Michaelis-Menten type model. After moistening of the soils, extra C is released, the amount of which is characteristic for the given soil. Application pf the short-term kinetic approach on the upper soil layer of various ecosystems (Western Canada, Central Siberia transect).

Modelling forest regeneration processes in clear-cut and burned areas in Angara Region
: материалы временных коллективов / V. A. Sokolov, S. K. Farber, I. M. Danilin // Water, air & soil pollution. - 1995. - Vol. 82, № 1-2. - С. 155-160. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: A method to select measures for enhancing natural forest-regeneration process in areas under extensive management is discussed. Using available information on geomorphological site characteristics and stand parameters, indices are determined using a specific criterion that describes the forest regeneration process. Using these indices as model inputs, cleacuts and burns can be classified; within each stratum the natural forest regeneration proces is similar. Analysing these strata, one can select a regime of forest treatment that is appropriate for a given stratum and, consequently, for the clearcuts (or burns) it includes.

Potential change in lodgepole pine site index and distribution under climatic change in Alberta
: материалы временных коллективов / Robert A. Monserud [и др.] // Canadian Journal of Forest Research. - 2008. - Vol. 38, № 2. - С. 343-352. - Библиогр. в конце ст.

Аннотация: We estimated the impact of global climate change on lodgepole pine site productivity in Alberta based on the Alberts Climate Model and the A2 SRES climate change scenario projections from three global circulation models (CGCM2, HADCM3, and ECHAM4). Cosiderable warming ia apparent in all three models. On average, the increases in mean GDD5 (growing degree-day 5 degrees C) are 18%, 38%, and 65% by the 2020s, 2050s, respectively. Change in precipitation is essentially nil. This results in proportioanal increases in dryness index. We used the dryness index to predict the potential future range and GDD5 to predict its potential productivity.

A spatial model of long-term forest fire dynamics and its applications to forests in Western Siberia
: сборник научных трудов / M. Ya. Antonovski, M. T. Ter-Mikaelian, V. V. Furyaev // A systems analysis of the global boreal forest. - Cambridge et al. : Cambridge University Press, 1992. - С. 373-403

Аннотация: This paper presents achievements in developing a spatial model of long-term forest fire dynamics. By the word "spatial" we denote a model that describes the dynamics of a large, non-homogenous (from the ecological viewpoint) forested territory, taking into account interractions between adjacent landscape units.

Modeling of fire behaviour in Siberian Scots pine forests
: материалы временных коллективов / D. J. McRae [и др.] // Boreal forests in a changing world: challenges and needs for action: Proceedings of the International conference August 15-21 2011, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. - Krasnoyarsk : V.N. Аннотация: An emperical fire study, using 2 to 4-ha experimental burn plots, was conducted in Central Siberia to obtain data to develop fire behaviour models for Scots pine forests. Fuel consumptiuon (depth of burn and fuel consumption) was predicted using the Russian Moisture Index (PV-1) or the Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index (FWI) System. However, only the FWI System could be used to model fire behaviour characteristics (rate of spread and fireline intensity), as wind speed is an important input factor in its calculatiion and is not accounted for in the PV-1.

Аннотация: Estimating terrestrial ecosystem CO2 fluxes is very important for our understanding of the global carbon cycle. This paper presents a zero-dimensional mathematical model of the ecosystem of Siberian boreal forests. It was used for comparison tall-tower-based CO2 fluxes with biometric field measurements. The model is a system of ordinary differential equations with additional conditions superimposed on the parameters. The main occurring proceses.are described - photosynthesis, respiration, seasonal changes of active phytomass, water balance of trees, the influence of light, humidity, and temperature of phytosynthesis and respiration.

Аннотация: Dendroclimatic analysis shows that summer temperature is a common limiting factor which influences mass balance, ablation and maximum density there for it is not surprising that these are closely correlated. The model reproduces well the increase of the glacier in the middle of 1980s and the decrease of mass balance from the middle 19Th to the late 20th century.

Аннотация: 285 tree-ring chronologies were used for tree-ring modeling (biophysical VS-model). All chronologies are located in the Eurasian part of Russia. Due to limitations of the present meteorological network in this territory for use in spatial tree-ring modeling, monthly climatic data were obtained from the high spatial resolution climate dataset (Climatic Research Unit, UEA, Norwich, UK) for ieach site. Average monthly temperature and cumulative precipitation were converted into daily data using a technique created by author. These daily datasets were used by the VS-model.

Аннотация: The objects of research were pine stands, formed naturally in the former agricultural lands in Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe. Trial and control plots were established in the stands, after thinning of different intensity (93% and 57% of number of stems). The work is based on the experimental data, obtained during the analysis of transverse slices images of model trees at the root collar. Realization of the potential productivity of individual trees as a result of thinning is mostly expressed in trees of higher ranks, and only afetr intensive thinning.
