Аннотация: The fractal dimension of the boundaries of clusters formed by pores and granules in polycrystalline materials is shown to be determined by the sample density and crystallite sizes. The dependence of the fractal dimension on the density has a maximum. It is shown that the maximum diamagnetic response can be obtained in a porous high-temperature superconductor with a porosity of 50-60% and small crystallite sizes.

Аннотация: The correlation between experimental magnetic field dependences of magnetoresistance and magnetization hysteresis in granular YBa2Cu3O7 is established. Within the proposed approach, magnetoresistance is assumed to be determined by the effective field in the intergrain boundaries the ensemble of which is considered to be a Josephson medium. The effective field in the intergrain medium can be written in the form B (eff)(H)=H-4 pi M(H)x alpha, where alpha is the parameter of averaged demagnetizing factors of grains and the degree of flux compression. A comparison of experimental magnetoresistance R(H) and magnetization M(H) hysteresis dependences obtained at different external magnetic field sweep rates yields the value alpha similar to 10, which is caused by the flux compression between grains. The proposed model describes well most of the features of the magnetoresistance hysteresis in granular high-T (C) superconductors.

Аннотация: The hysteretic dependences of the magnetoresistance of porous (38% of the theoretical density) granular high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3O (x) have been analyzed in the model of the effective intergranular field. This effective field has been defined by the superposition of the external field and the field induced by magnetic moments of superconducting grains. The magnetic flux compression in an intergranular medium, characterized by the effective field, controls the hysteretic behavior of the magnetoresistance. It has been found that the magnetoresistance hysteresis width for the studied porous HTSC depends on the transport current, in contrast to the superconductor of the same composition with high physical density (more than 90% of the theoretical value). For a porous superconductor, a significant current concentration occurs in the region of the grain boundaries, which is caused by features of its microstructure. A current-induced increase in the effective boundary length results in a decrease in the flux compression, a decrease in the effective field in the intergranular medium, and a magnetoresistance hysteresis narrowing with increasing current.

Аннотация: Composites simulating a network of weak metallic links and consisting of a classic 1-2-3 HTSC and a BaPbO3 metal oxide with incorporated Sn, Ni, and Fe impurities have been prepared. Experimental resistivity, magnetic, and Mossbauer studies of the BaPb(0.9)Met(0.1)O(3) nonsuperconducting components are presented. The transport properties of the HTSC + BaPb(0.9)Met(0.1)O(3) composites have been investigated. The superconducting properties of the composites are observed to be suppressed, both when the carrier mean free path in nonsuperconducting components with tin impurities decreases, and as a result of an additional interaction of the magnetic moments of (Fe, Ni) impurities with the spins of supercurrent carriers. The experimental temperature dependences of the composite critical current are analyzed in terms of the de Gennes theory for the superconductor-normal metal-superconductor structures. Аннотация: Measurements of current-voltage characteristics (CVC) of Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2,Cu3O7 + BaPbO3 and Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 +BaPb0.9Sn0.1O3 composites modelling network of superconducting-normal metal-superconducting (S-N-S) junctions in effectively 'clean' and 'dirty' limits, respectively, have been performed. Essential difference of CVCs for these composites is observed in spite of the identical preparation technique and experimental conditions. It is shown that the theory for S-N-S junctions [R. Kummel, U. Gunsenheimer, R. Nicolsky, Phys. Rev. B, 42 (1990) 3932] well describes the experimental CVCs of the composites in both cases. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. Аннотация: Bulk composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+NiTiO3 and Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+MgTiO3 with insulator volume content 7.5% and 15% modelling a network of Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor (S-I-S) junctions have been prepared. The ?(T) dependences of composites HTSC+MgTiO3 are described well by the mechanism of Thermally Activated Phase Slippage (TAPS). The anomalous behavior of resistivity ?(T) of HTSC+NiTiO3 composites manifesting as a kink on ?(T) curves at some temperature Tm have been observed. In the temperature range Tm < T < TC the dissipation is Ohmic while below Tm the CVCs are strongly non-linear. This peculiarity is interpreted as arisen owing to Abrikosov vortices flow.

Аннотация: Measurements of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistance R(T) below the superconducting transition temperature have been performed at different values of the transport current in HTSC+CuO composites modeling a network of weak S - I - S Josephson junctions (S - superconductor, I - insulator). It has been shown experimentally that the temperature dependence R(T) at different values of the transport current is adequately described by means of the mechanism of thermally activated phase slippage developed by Ambegaokar and Halperin for tunnel structures. Within the framework of this model we have numerically calculated the temperature dependence of the critical current J c(T) as defined by various criteria. Qualitative agreement obtains between the measured and calculated temperature dependences J c(T). В© 1999 American Institute of Physics.

Аннотация: Temperature dependences of transport critical current (Jc) have been studied for polycrystalline HTSC samples of 1-2-3 structure with Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 composition. The main aim of the investigation was the effect of the boundaries between crystallites on the current-carrying capability of the high-temperature superconductor. The modifications of the boundaries have been achieved by the long time heat treatments up to one week (?150 hours). It has been demonstrated experimentally that the Kulik-Omel'yanchuk theory describes adequately the temperature dependence of Jc of samples with short heat treatment time in "clean" limit. The absolute value of Jc (4.2k) ? 1.4kA/cm2. Long-term heat treated samples have Jc(4.2K) ? 0.1kA/cm2 and the temperature dependence of Jc becomes close to predictions of de Gennes theory. В© 1994.

Microstrip structure -- microwave (MW) -- power limiter (PL) -- transmission -- zero

Аннотация: This paper presents a new type of power limiter (PL), using superconducting-to-normal state phase transition in high-temperature superconductor. The presented device differs from the existing ones mainly in the reflective principle of its operation. In fact, the PL is a three-resonator microstrip filter, whose resonators are configured and arranged in such a manner that coupling coefficient between the outer resonators is equal to zero and the inner one has a gap in the middle section shunted by a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) film element. In small-signal mode, the HTS element is in low-loss state, and the device is essentially a three-pole filter with low transmission loss. When the level of the signal exceeds the threshold, the HTS element transits to the high-loss state, and the Q-factor of the inner resonator falls, breaking the coupling in the structure. This leads to the corresponding increase in the PL's transmission loss due to reflection. The higher the level of incoming power, the more the Q-factor falls. The PL operating frequency is 8 GHz with 8.5% fractional bandwidth. It remains operable up to 40 W of input power, providing 38-dB limitation.

Аннотация: We report on the results of measurements of anisotropic resistivity of RBa(2)Cu(3)O(6 + x) (R = Tm, Lu) high-temperature superconducting single crystals in a wide range of doping levels, indicating a nontrivial effect of magnetic order on the electronic properties of cuprates. In particular, our results visually demonstrate the crossover from the state with moderate anisotropy of resistivity rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 30 to a strongly anisotropic state with rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 7 x 10(3) upon cooling as well as upon a decrease in the hole concentration in the CuO(2) planes. It is also shown that anisotropy is sensitive to the magnetic state of CuO(2) planes and attains its maximum value after the establishment of the long-range antiferromagnetic order. The results are discussed in the framework of the theory based on the t-t'-taEuro(3)-J model of CuO(2) layers taking into account strong electron correlations and short-range magnetic order. In this theory, anomalies of spin correlators and Fermi surface topology for a critical hole concentration of p* a parts per thousand 0.24 are demonstrated. The concentration dependence of the charge carrier energy indicates partial suppression of energy due to the emergence of a pseudogap at p < p*. This theory explains both the experimentally observed sensitivity of anisotropy in conductivity to the establishment of the antiferromagnetic order and the absence of anomalies in the temperature dependence of resistivity rho (ab) (T) in the vicinity of the N,el temperature.

Аннотация: The time evolution of the magnetoresistance of bulk YBCO + CuO composites at T = 4.2 K in constant applied magnetic fields was studied to clarify the mechanism of hysteretic behavior of magnetoresistance R(H) of granular HTSC. The composites represent "model" granular HTSC with weakened Josephson coupling between superconducting (YBCO) crystallites. It was found for the first time that on the ascending branch of R(H) dependence, the resistance at H = const decreased with time while on the descending branch, the resistance increased with time in ail applied constant magnetic field. In the range of low magnetic fields (below the minimum point of the descending branch of the R(H) dependence), the resistance at H const decreased again. Similar measurements performed oil pure polycrystalline YBCO at T = 77.4 K have shown that the behavior of evolution of resistance with time is similar to that observed for the composite. This proves the peculiarity of time evolution of maignetoresistance to be a common feature of granular HTSCs. The behavior revealed is well described by the model Of granular HTSC, where the intergrain media is in an effective magnetic field which is the superposition of the external field and the field induced by superconducting grains. The time evolution of resistance reflects the time relaxation of magnetization of HTSC grains due to the intragrain flux Creep Processes. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The hysteresis of magnetoresistance R(H) and relaxation of the remanent resistance R-rem with time after magnetic field treatment of HTSC (Y-Ba-Cu-O) + CuO composites are studied. Such a composite constitutes a network of Josephson junctions wherein the nonsuperconducting component (CuO) forms Josephson barriers between HTSC grains. By comparing the experimental R-rem(t) and R(H) dependences, it is shown that the relaxation of the remanent resistance is caused by the decreased magnetic field in the intergrain medium due to relaxation of magnetization. The reason is uncovered for the differences between the published values of pinning potentials determined by measuring the relaxation of magnetization or resistance and fitting them by the Anderson law.
