Аннотация: We formulate and study the three-orbital model for iron-based superconductors. Results for the band structure, Fermi surface, and the spin susceptibility in both normal and superconducting s В± states are presented. We also discuss the pairing interaction and show that the dominant part of it should come from the intraorbital scattering. В© 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Multiband model for the dynamical conductivity of superconducting pnictides manifestation of impurity induced s±às++ transition
/ D. V. Efremov [et al.] // International conferences «Phase separation and Superstripes in High Temperature Superconductors and Related Materials (Superstripes-2012)». - 2012. - P. 127

Аннотация: The multiband (4 x4 bands) model and its reduction to the effective two-band model taking into account the strong interaction with intermediate spin-fluctuations have been successively applied to the description of the properties of Ba1-xKxFeAs2. On the base of this approach and using the extension of the formalism developed for the multiband system MgB2 we have calculated free energy and frequency dependent optical complex conductivity \ sigma ( \omega ,T) in the superconducting as well as the normal states of pnictides. An application of the presented approach to the ellipsometry data for single crystals of Ba1-xKxFeAs2 allows to describe some experimental features connected to multigap nature and strong coupling effects. Effects of rather strong nonmagnetic impurities beyond the Born approximation which can lead to the transitions in the superconducting order parameter S+- - S++ were investigated.

Аннотация: Recently, several measurements of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate T(1)(-1) in the superconducting Fe pnictides have been reported. These measurements generally show no coherence peak below T(c) and indicate a low-temperature power-law behavior, the characteristics commonly taken as evidence of unconventional superconductivity with lines of nodes crossing the Fermi surface. In this work we show that (i) the lack of a coherence peak is fully consistent with the previously proposed nodeless extended s(+/-)-wave symmetry of the order parameter (whether in the clean or dirty limit) and (ii) the low-temperature power-law behavior can be also explained in the framework of the same model but requires going beyond the Born limit.

Аннотация: Employing the four-band tight-binding model, we study theoretically the doping dependence of the spin response in the normal state of novel Fe-based pnictide superconductors. We show that the commensurate spin density wave (SDW) transition that arises due to interband scattering between the hole alpha-pockets and the electron beta-pockets disappears already at the doping concentration x approximate to 0.04 reflecting the evolution of the Fermi surfaces. Correspondingly, with further increase of the doping the antiferromagnetic fluctuations are suppressed for x 0.1 and the imaginary part of the spin susceptibility at antiferromagnetic wave vector becomes nearly temperature independent. At the same time, we observe that the uniform susceptibility deviates from the Pauli-like behavior and is increasing with increasing temperature reflecting the activation processes for the alpha-Fermi surfaces up to temperatures of about T = 800 K. With increase of the doping the absolute value of the uniform susceptibility lowers and its temperature dependence changes. In particular, it is a constant at low temperatures and then decreases with increasing temperature. We discuss our results in a context of recent experimental data. Copyright (C) EPLA, 2008

Аннотация: We propose an explanation of the peculiar linear temperature dependence of the uniform spin susceptibility chi(T) in ferropnictides. We argue that the linear in T term appears to be due to the nonanalytic temperature dependence of chi(T) in a two-dimensional Fermi liquid. We show that the prefactor of the T term is expressed via the square of the spin-density-wave (SDW) amplitude connecting nested hole and electron pockets. Because of an incipient SDW instability, this amplitude is large, which, along with a small value of the Fermi energy, makes the T dependence of chi(T) strong. We demonstrate that this mechanism is in quantitative agreement with the experiment.

Аннотация: We argue that Raman study of Fe-pnictides is a way to unambiguously distinguish between various superconducting gaps proposed for these materials. We show that A(1g) Raman intensity develops a true resonance peak below 2 Delta if the pairing gap has A(1g) symmetry in the folded Brillouin zone (Delta(k=0)=Delta, Delta(pi, pi)=-Delta). No such peak develops for a pure s-wave gap, a d-wave gap, and an extended s-wave gap with Delta(k) =Delta cosk(x)/2cosk(y)/2. We show that the peak remains quite strong for the values of interpocket impurity scattering used to fit NMR data.

Unconventional superconductors -- Iron pnictides -- Iron chalcogenides -- Impurity scattering

Аннотация: Disorder impurities and defects violating the ideal long-range order is always present in solids. It can result in interesting and sometimes unexpected effects in multiband superconductors, especially if the superconductivity is uncon-ventional, thus having symmetry other than the usual s-wave. This paper uses the examples of iron-based pnictides and chal-cogenides to examine how both nonmagnetic and magnetic impurities affect superconducting states with s± and s++ order parameters. We show that disorder causes the transition between s± and s++ states and examine what observable effects this transition can produce. © 2016 Uspekhi Fizicheskikh Nauk, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Аннотация: IIrradiation of superconductors with different particles is one of many ways to investigate the effects of disorder. Here we study the disorder-induced transition between s ± and s ++ states in the two-band model for Fe-based superconductors with nonmagnetic impurities. Specifically, we investigate the important question of whether the superconducting gaps during the transition change smoothly or abruptly. We show that the behavior can be of either type and is controlled by the ratio of intraband to interband impurity scattering potentials, and by a parameter σ, that represents scattering strength and ranges from zero (Born approximation) to one (unitary limit). For the pure interband scattering potential and the scattering strength σ ≲ 0.11, the s ± → s ++ transition is accompanied by steep changes in the gaps, while for larger values of σ, the gaps change smoothly. The behavior of the gaps is characterized by steep changes at low temperatures, T˂ 0.1Tc0 with Tc0 being the critical temperature in the clean limit, otherwise it changes gradually. The critical temperature Tc is always a smooth function of the scattering rate in spite of the steep changes in the behavior of the gaps.

unconventional superconductors -- iron pnictides -- iron chalcogenides -- impurity scattering

Аннотация: We study the dependence of the superconducting gaps on both the disorder and the temperature within the two-band model for iron-based materials. In the clean limit, the system is in the s± state with sign-changing gaps. Scattering by nonmagnetic impurities leads to the change of the sign of the smaller gap, resulting in a transition from the s± to the s++ state with the sign-preserving gaps. We show here that the transition is temperature-dependent. Thus, there is a line of s±→s++ transition in the temperature–disorder phase diagram. There is a narrow range of impurity scattering rates, where the disorder-induced s±→s++ transition occurs at low temperatures, but then the low-temperature s++ state transforms back to the s± state at higher temperatures. With increasing impurity scattering rate, the temperature of such s++→s± transition shifts to the critical temperature Tc, and only the s++ state is left for higher amounts of disorder.

РУБ Physics

Аннотация: We study the effect of the spin-orbit coupling on the band structure and the Fermi surface of the three-orbital model within the two-iron Brillouin zone. Due to the presence of two irons in the crystallographically correct unit cell, the spin-orbit coupling can be divided into the intra- and intercell parts with respect to the one-iron unit cell. We show that the intercell part produces the reconstruction of the Fermi surface in the form of the pronounced splitting between the previously degenerate electron (π, π)-pockets along the (0, π) - (π, π) direction. Intracell part shifts the bands around (0, 0) point and removes degeneracy there. There are also some other band shifts but they should not affect the low-energy physics because they occur at energy scales of about 1 eV below the Fermi level.

One of the features of the unconventional s± state in iron-based superconductors is possibility to transform to the s++ state with the increase of the nonmagnetic disorder. Detection of such a transition would prove the existence of the s± state. Here we study the temperature dependence of the London magnetic penetration depth within the two-band model for the s± and s++ superconductors. By solving Eliashberg equations accounting for the spin-fluctuation mediated pairing and nonmagnetic impurities in the T-matrix approximation, we have derived a set of specific signatures of the s± → s++ transition: (1) sharp change in the behavior of the penetration depth λL as a function of the impurity scattering rate at low temperatures; (2) before the transition, the slope of ΔλL(T) = λL(T) - λL(0) increases as a function of temperature, and after the transition this value decreases; (3) the sharp jump in the inverse square of the penetration depth as a function of the impurity scattering rate, λL-2(Γa), at the transition; (4) change from the single-gap behavior in the vicinity of the transition to the two-gap behavior upon increase of the impurity scattering rate in the superfluid density ρs(T).

Перевод заглавия: Изменение топологии поверхности Ферми в трехорбитальной модели пниктидов железа со спин-орбитальным взаимодействием
Аннотация: Effect of the spin-orbit coupling on the band structure and the Fermi surface of the three-orbital model is studied. The inter-orbital part of the model is reformulated to fully conform with the iron lattice symmetry. Because there are two iron ions in the unit cell, we introduce the intra-and inter-ion spin-orbit coupling constants to separate the effect of the related couplings on the band structure and the Fermi surface. Both the intra-and inter-ion parts lift the degeneracy of some bands at the Γ = (0, 0) point and the splitting of bands along the (0, π) ‒ (π, π) direction of the Brillouin zone. We show that the inter-ion part of the spin-orbit coupling leads to the topological change of the Fermi surface — the splitting of two Fermi surface sheets around the M = (π, π) point.
