Аннотация: The correlation of magnetic anisotropy energy with order parameter in the crystallites of CoPt nanostructured particles prepared by thermal decomposition and further annealing has been studied by investigation of the approach magnetization to saturation curves and x-ray powder diffraction pattern profiles. It is shown that magnetic anisotropy energy value in partially ordered CoPt crystallite could be described as an intermediate case between two extremes, corresponding to either single or several c-domains of L1(0) phase in crystallite.     Fundamental basis of production and application of biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates
/ T. G. Volova [et al.] // J. Sib. Fed. Univ. Biol. - 2012. - Vol. 5, Is. 3. - P. 280-299 ; Журн. СФУ. Сер. "биология"
Перевод заглавия: Фундаментальные основы производства и применения биодеградируемых полигидроксиалканоатов
Аннотация: Microbial polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) have long been studied due to their potential for replacement of petroleum-based plastic. The study addresses the effect of different conditions of carbon nutrition on synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates by the bacterium Ralstonia eutropha. First and foremost, PHAs are carbon storage compounds for many organisms. There are still many aspects of the physiology of PHA accumulation and degradation that are still not understood. Measurements of key P3HBrelated enzyme activities throughout cell growth reveal correlations of acetoacetyl-CoA reductase and synthase enzyme activity maxima with P3HB biosynthesis. The investigation addressed kinetic parameters of growth and accumulation of polyhydroxyalkanoates and gas exchange parameters of the culture of the CO-resistant strain of the hydrogen bacteria Ralstonia eutropha B 5786 cultivated on synthesis gas - a product of gasification of brown coals. The results were compared with those obtained by growing the bacteria on electrolytic hydrogen and it was concluded that synthesis gas can be successfully used to produce PHAs. In experiments with wild-type strain it has been first found that under mixotrophic growth conditions - CO2 + co-substrate (alcanoic acids) - bacteria can synthesize multi-component PHAs, consisting of short- and medium-chain-length monomers with carbon chains containing 4 to 8 atoms. It has been shown that PHA composition is determined by the type of the co-substrate. Fatty acids with odd number of carbons induce bacteria to synthesize multi-component PHAs with 3-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxyvalerate, and 3-hydroxyhexanoate as major monomers and 3-hydroxyheptanoate and 3-hydroxyoctanoate as minor, occasionally occurring, ones. Fatty acids with even number of carbons induce synthesis of not only their respective monomers (3-hydroxyhexanoate and 3-hydroxyoctanoate) but also 3-hydroxyvalerate, making possible synthesis of four-component PHAs, containing 3-hydroxybutyrate and 3-hydroxyhexanoate as major components. A family of short- and medium-chain-length four- and five-component PHAs has been synthesized and their physicochemical and biomedical-properties examined.

We have studied spectral properties of a cholesteric liquid crystal with a combined defect consisting of a nanocomposite layer and a twist. The nanocomposite layer is made of metallic nanoballs dispersed in a transparent matrix and featuring effective resonant permittivity. A solution has been found for the transmission spectrum of circularly polarized waves in the structure. We have analyzed spectral splitting of the defect mode in the band gap of the cholesteric when its frequency coincides with the nanocomposite resonant frequency. Defect modes have characteristics strongly dependent on the magnitude and the sign of the phase difference of the cholesteric helix on both sides of the defect layer. It has been found that the band gap width and the position and localization degree of defect modes can be effectively controlled by external fields applied to the cholesteric.

Quantum and classical correlations in the solid-state NMR free induction decay
/ V. E. Zobov, A. A. Lundin // International Conference Magnetic Resonance: Fundamental Research and Pioneering Applications : Book of abstracts. - 2014. - Ст. P 77. - P. 160. - Cited References: 16

Аннотация: The free induction decay (FID) of the transverse magnetization in a dipolar-coupled rigid lattice is a fundamental problem in magnetic resonance and in the theory of many-body systems. As it was shown earlier the FID shapes for the systems of classical magnetic moments and for quantum nuclear spin ones coincide if there are many nearly equivalent nearest neighbors n in a solid lattice. In this paper, we reduce a multispin density matrix of above system to a two-spin matrix. Then we obtain analytic expressions for the mutual information and the quantum and classical parts of correlations at the arbitrary spin quantum number S, in the high-temperature approximation. The time dependence of these functions is expressed via the derivative of the FID shape. To extract classical correlations for S 1/2 we provide generalized POVM measurement (positive-operator-valued measure) using the basis of spin coherent states. We show that in every pair of spins the portion of quantum correlations changes from 1/2 to 1/(S + 1) when S is growing up, and quantum properties disappear completely only if S → ∞.

Аннотация: Nanopowders of zinc and titanium oxides were used to obtain samples of Zn2TiO4-ZnO ceramic. Phase formation as well as the microstructure and elemental composition of the phases formed were studied by means of electron microscopy. The density and porosity were calculated, and the sizes of grains and pores in the ceramic were determined. The temperature at the zinc titanate forms was determined. It was shown that it corresponds to the sintering temperature of electrocontact materials with this composition. It is proposed that zinc titanate and oxide be used as arc-suppressing and dispersion-hardening additional additives in copper-based electrocontact materials.

Аннотация: We present measurements of oscillations in the electron density, ion density and ion velocity in the induced magnetosphere of Mars. The fundamental frequency of the oscillations is a few millihertz, but higher harmonics are present in the spectrum. The oscillations are observed in a region where there is a velocity shear in the plasma flow. The fundamental frequency is in agreement with computational results from an ideal-MHD model. An interpretation based on velocity-shear instabilities is described.

Аннотация: The evolution of optical absorption spectra of the ferromagnetic semiconductor VBO3 under high pressures up to 70 GPa has been investigated. It has been revealed that, below the fundamental absorption edge (E (g1) = 3.02 eV), the spectra exhibit a series of bands V1 (2.87 eV), V2 (2.45 eV), V3 (1.72 eV), and V4(1.21 eV) due to the d-d transitions in the V3+ ion and charge-transfer excitations. A model of the electronic structure of the VBO3 semiconductor has been constructed. This model combines the one-electron description of the s and p states of boron and oxygen and the many-electron description of the vanadium d states.

Аннотация: The frequency doubling of femtosecond laser pulses in a two-dimensional (2D) rectangular nonlinear photonic lattice with hexagonal domains is studied experimentally and theoretically. The broad fundamental spectrum enables frequency conversion under nonlinear Bragg diffraction for a series of transverse orders at a fixed longitudinal quasi-phase-matching order. The consistent nonstationary theory of the frequency doubling of femtosecond laser pulses is developed using the representation based on the reciprocal lattice of the structure. The calculated spatial distribution of the second-harmonic spectral intensity agrees well with the experimental data. The condition for multiple nonlinear Bragg diffraction in a 2D nonlinear photonic lattice is offered. The hexagonal shape of the domains contributes to multibeam second harmonic excitation. The maximum conversion efficiency for a series of transverse orders in the range 0.01%-0.03% is obtained.

Аннотация: It is shown that for the three-band Emery p–d-model that reflects the real structure of the CuO2-plane of high-temperature superconductors in the regime of strong electron correlations, it is possible to carry out a sequence of reductions to the effective models reproducing low-energy features of elementary excitation spectrum and revealing the spin-polaron nature of the Fermi quasiparticles. The first reduction leads to the spin-fermion model in which the subsystem of spin moments, coupled by the exchange interaction and localized on copper ions, strongly interacts with oxygen holes. The second reduction deals with the transformation from the spin-fermion model to the φ–d-exchange model. An important feature of this transformation is the large energy of the φ–d-exchange coupling, which leads to the formation of spin polarons. The use of this fact allows us to carry out the third reduction, resulting in the t̃ −J̃∗−I-model. Its distinctive feature is the importance of spin-correlated hops as compared to the role of such processes in the commonly used t–J*-model derived from the Hubbard model. Based on the comparative analysis of the spectrum of Fermi excitations calculated for the obtained effective models of the CuO2-plane of high-temperature superconductors, the important role of the usually ignored long-range spin-correlated hops is determined.

Аннотация: Backward electromagnetic waves are extraordinary waves with contra-directed phase velocity and energy flux. Unusual properties of the coherent nonlinear optical coupling of the phase-matched ordinary and backward electromagnetic waves with contra-directed energy fluxes are described that enable greatly-enhanced frequency and propagation direction conversion, parametrical amplification, as well as control of shape of the light pulses. Extraordinary transient processes that emerge in such metamaterials in pulsed regimes are described. The results of the numerical simulation of particular plasmonic metamaterials with hyperbolic dispersion are presented, which prove the possibility to match phases of such coupled guided ordinary and backward electromagnetic waves. Particular properties of the outlined processes in the proposed metamaterial are demonstrated through numerical simulations. Potential applications include ultra-miniature amplifiers, frequency changing reflectors, modulators, pulse shapers, and remotely actuated sensors.

Аннотация: We study the dependence of the superconducting gaps on both the disorder and the temperature within the two-band model for iron-based materials. In the clean limit, the system is in the s± state with sign-changing gaps. Scattering by nonmagnetic impurities leads to the change of the sign of the smaller gap, resulting in a transition from the s± to the s++ state with the sign-preserving gaps. We show here that the transition is temperature-dependent. Thus, there is a line of s±→s++ transition in the temperature–disorder phase diagram. There is a narrow range of impurity scattering rates, where the disorder-induced s±→s++ transition occurs at low temperatures, but then the low-temperature s++ state transforms back to the s± state at higher temperatures. With increasing impurity scattering rate, the temperature of such s++→s± transition shifts to the critical temperature Tc, and only the s++ state is left for higher amounts of disorder.

Аннотация: Spin resonance in the superconducting state of Fe-based materials within the multiorbital model with unequal anisotropic gaps on different Fermi surface sheets is studied. On the basis of the model gap function and the one calculated within the spin fluctuation theory of pairing, I show that the resonance peak shifts to higher frequencies with increasing the zero-amplitude gap magnitude. On the contrary, with increasing the gap anisotropy, it shifts to lower frequencies and loses some intensity.

Аннотация: Based on the nonequilibrium Keldysh technique in the atomic representation, the effect of inducing a varied population of magnetic states of a spin dimer interacting with electrons transported through a system in a zero magnetic field was studied. In order to find the filling numbers of the quantum states of the system under the strong nonequilibrium condition, a system of kinetic equations was derived and solved by the method of nonequilibrium diagram technique for Hubbard operators. Numerical analysis of these equations made it possible to reveal nonequilibrium renormalizations when accounting for strong spin-fermion correlations.

Аннотация: In search of a substance able to function as an anionic surfactant applied for the electrically-induced anchoring transitions in liquid crystals, the compound 4-heptyloxybenzoate benzyl dodecyldimethylammonium (HOBBDDA) has been synthesized. Its orienting influence on nematic liquid crystal 4-pentyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl (5CB) has been tested. HOBBDDA dissolved up to 1.4%in 50 droplets dispersed in polymer film does not change the tangential surface anchoring inherent to polyvinyl alcohol matrix used. Homeotropic surface anchoring is realized if the HOBBDDA content exceeds 1.7%. The molecules of the surfactant in 5CB dissociate into anions and cations. The anions modify the surface anchoring under the action of DC electric field both in the normal and inverse mode. The mixture of HOBBDDA and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide can function as a binary ionic cationic surfactant which significantly expands the prospects for using the ionic-surfactant method to control liquid crystal materials. Аннотация: A model to describe light scattering by polymer film containing of monolayer of liquid crystal droplets with inhomogeneous anchoring of liquid crystal molecules at the polymer-droplet interface is developed. It is based on the interference approximation of the wave scattering theory. The director field distribution in the droplet volume is determined by solving the free energy density minimization problem using the relaxation method. The spatial distribution of droplets in the layer is described by the hard disks model. The amplitude scattering matrices of individual droplets are found in the anomalous diffraction approximation. The algorithm for numerical analysis of the characteristics of light scattered in a polymer film containing droplets at homogeneous and inhomogeneous surface anchoring is described in terms of the partial filling factors of the monolayer film. Electrically controllable symmetry breaking effect of angular distribution of light scattered by films containing droplets with inhomogeneous anchoring at the polymer-droplet interface is described and experimentally confirmed.
