Аннотация: Lake Baikal is the greatest and the most ancient freshwater body of the Earth. It is home of a few thousand endemic aquatic species. The last twelve years summed up new information of this unique center of biodiversity which was obtained by the methods of classical and molecular biology and supplemented by deciphering the sedimentary paleontological records.
