Аннотация: The book deals with an old beech stand , oak and larch planted in group selection openings, under a crown canopy and an open area for the first three or four years.The purpose of the experiment was to test the possibility of bringing advance groups of European larch and oak on group selection openings in beech stands. In parallel experiments (mostly potted plants) the dry matter production of larch and beech was traced with growth analytical methods on the three plots and also on a smaller selection opening

Аннотация: The influence of temperature on the growth of Fomes annosus isolated from spruce and Trichoderma viride yielding gliotoxin cultivated separately and mixed is studied. The fungi have different demands of temperature, Trichoderma viride growing rapidly still at 30 C, at which temperature Fomes annosus ceased. On the other hand at temperatures below 12 C Trichoderma viride developed very slowly in contrast to Fomes annosus. The growth of the mixed fungi is however affected of pH too. At and above the point of neutrality are obtained at high temperatures and low pH values

Аннотация: The present investigation is an attempt to describe further some of the complicated connections between the temperature climate and germinability of pine seeds and simultaneously their changing content of various types of sugar. To limit the ecological variation as far as possible, with the exception of the temperature factor, the studies have been based on material collected from one and the same pine stand. Collections of pine cones were made during three consecutive years, and the local temperatures were taken and recorded at the same time. The study is part of a more extensive investigation into ripening conditions of Scots pine seeds at higher altitudes in northern Sweden.
