Аннотация: The handbook contains a description of and methodological hints concerning basic procedures for the handling and interpretation of vibrational spectra. All commonly-used definitions, mathematical relationships, tables of constants, conversion factors and computation schemes for numerical treatment of experimental values have been collectedThe book is supplemented with FORTRAN programs for the computer solution of many problems in molecular spectroscopy. The handbook has been written for graduate chemists (and also high-school graduated chemists), who interpret IR and Raman spectra obtained on their samples. The subject matter is thus limited only to those fields of experimental techniques which are reflected in the quality of the spectra and must be consideredin the handling and analysis of spectra. Other problems, e.g. the construction of commercial spectrometers and calculations of force constants, have not been treated in the book. The material contained in the handbook should suffice for independent handling of vibrational spectra in organic chemistry (and possibly also inorganic and macromolecular chemistry).

Аннотация: Electronic dispersion and density of states ( DOS) have been calculated for the Hubbard model and the t - J and t - J* models with three-site correlated hopping by the cluster perturbation theory. We have found a rather strong quantitative difference both in dispersion and DOS at all doping for the Hubbard and t - J models at the energy scale omega greater than or similar to t. The three-site correlated hopping addition results in an almost negligible difference for the Hubbard and t - J* models. Close to the Fermi energy, at the scale omega less than or similar to J, the electronic structure of all three models is similar. We have found the line of zeros of the Green function for the t J model that has been previously obtained for the Hubbard model by cellular dynamical mean-field theory calculations.

Аннотация: The present work reports on comparisons between observations of annual cone setting of Scots pine and Norway spruce in various parts of the country carried out by the State rangers and observations made by the National Forest Survey. On the basis of these comparisons the long series of State ranger observations (1909-1953) has been regionally transformed to an absolute scale of values. Аннотация: A method for long-term, comprehensive planning of farm operating units, primarily the forestry part, is described. The method is based on gross margin calculations, lenear programming technique, and the use of high speed electronic computers. The capital value at period-end is used as efficiency criterion linked with a restriction guaranteeing an annual minimum amount of liquid funds. In principle the method is an investment model simultaneously treating all possble investemnts, their financing, and the need for liquid funds. The method should lend itself to both research and survey purposes as practical planning of forest operating units, either separately or in combination with other economic activity

Аннотация: Flowering phenology and flowering frequencies were investigated in clones offSwedish and Finnish origin growing in a pine seed orchard at Langtora. One purpose was to estimate the gene contribution of individual clones to the progeny. The frequencies of femeil and male strobili were estimated in 1973-1975. The onset and duration of both female receptivity and pollen dispersal were recorded. The pollen density in the seed orchard was estimated. Great clonal variation prevailed in the seed orchard with respect to the frequency of female and male flowering as well as the onset and duration of female receptivity and pollen dispersal. A good agreement in flowering frequencies and phenological characteristics of the clones between different years was observed. The calculations of the genetic composition of the progeny revealed that the gene contribution of the analysed clones varied considerably. This was mainly due to differences in the frequency of flowering.

Аннотация: The primary objective of this study is to make scenarios on future resource requirements in timber procurement and changes in prevailing conditions up to 2010. To this end, a timber procurement model was devised to make it possible to examine the resources required for timber procurement and to optimize them under given restrictions. The model is based on nordic shortwood methods. The model covers the current and foreseeable optional courses of action in both industrial and small-scale harvesting by private woodlot owners, transportation and wood yard operations. Primarilly, the model is based on forestry economic criteria in national level, so the individual calculations for one forest owner, or on areal or company level, for instance, may result slightly different outcome.

Аннотация: The aim of the present study was to make financially optimal thinning models for Scots pine and Norway spruce stands. The main objective of the forest management was assumed to be the net present value of the future revenues from a forest stand at three and five per cent interest rates. Calculations concerned solely thinnings from below. In order to distinguish regional differences, thinning models were made separately for four sub-regions in southern Finland.

Аннотация: Thinning models based on profitability calculations by three and five per cent proved to be economically better than the thinning models of Tapio when measured by the net incomes and logging cost. Also, just postponement of the first thinning due to the Tapio's models led to considerably better results than the Tapio's models. Results were parallel to those at the stand and forest holding level.
