Аннотация: In this book, the author has attempted to gather together the results of modern research carried out by workers with the viewpoint of the general physiologist, namely that of the investigator who attempts to explain living phenomena in terms of concepts familiar in the basic sciences of physics and chemistry. Regarding the distinction between the two forms of physiology as one of outlook rather than of subject for investigation. The author roamed a wide field and have neccessary covered a great deal of ground regularly trodden by the mammalian physiologist; in these regions of overlap the more detailed treatment provided in this book, and to make more intelligible, the sometimes scany treatments of the same subjects afforded by the ordinary physiological texts.
