Аннотация: Forest management is primarily concerned with the organization of specific, individual, forest properties for the continuous production of crops of timber to supply economic needs. It is distinguished from the management of forests whose primary purpose is for recreation, or for protection of watersheds, in that the bisness principles which characterize economic management are in such cases subordinated to the more important objectives of direct public benefit from forest cover or scenery.Production of timber for economic use then becomes secondary. Аннотация: The organisms listed in this book include only those that are directly, or in a few instances indirectly, injurious to living trees. Species, such as many wood-boring insects, whose attacks are restricted to fallen trees have been exluded. Weed plants, unless they are at least in some measure parasitic, have also been omitted. Many of the included tree species are most commonly, but not invariably, treated as agricultural crops, and on the borderline the inclusion of some and the omission of others must necessarily be subjective; the principle of including too much rather than too little has been adopted.

Аннотация: The present work reports on comparisons between observations of annual cone setting of Scots pine and Norway spruce in various parts of the country carried out by the State rangers and observations made by the National Forest Survey. On the basis of these comparisons the long series of State ranger observations (1909-1953) has been regionally transformed to an absolute scale of values. Аннотация: Irregular seed production is a rather common phenomenon on forest trees, including several species of conifers. Good and poor crops follow each other at intervals. This makes it necessary to store seed of disired species, so that regular supplies are available each year for planting purposes. In order that seed may not lose its germination capacity during storage, suitable conditions must be provided, e.g. low temperature, low relative humidity, etc. . An important factor affecting by the germination capacity of stored seed is the amount of mechanical damage it possesses (e.g. from dewinging, etc.)

Аннотация: The profitability of fast-growing trees was investigated in the northeastern and eastern provinces of Thailand. The financial, economic, and tentative environmental-economic profitability was determined separately for three fast-growing plantation tree species and for three categories of plantation managers: the private industry, the state (The Royal Forest Department) and the farmers. Fast-growing tree crops were also compared with teak, a traditional medium or long rotation species, and Para rubber which presently is the most common cultivated tree in Thailand.

Аннотация: This study discusses some renewable primary product plants that are only rarely cultivated, but ought to receive greater attention both in agriculture as in industry due to their valuable ingredients.
