Аннотация: В монографии изложены современные модели, методы и алгоритмы управления запасами на крупных промышленных предприятиях и в системах обслуживания, ориентированные на человеко-машинную реализацию в условиях автоматизированных систем управления (САУП). Основное внимание уделено управлению многономенклатурными запасами при неполной информации о спросе, управлению замкнутыми по спросу системами снабжения, системами с зависимым спросом. В качестве главного показателя качества управления запасами использовано условие обеспечения заданной надежности снабжения. Алгоритмы управления разработаны с помощью современных методов теории адаптации, математического программирования, стохастической оптимизации. Приведены примеры практического применения разработанных методов для управления запасами полуфабрикатов в металлургии, запасами инструмента и оснастки в машиностроении, запасами медикаментов в аптечной сети и др. Книга предназначена для научных работников и инженеров - специалистов по разработке прикладного программного обеспечения (АСУП). The book is concerned with new models, methods and algorithms of inventory control in the context of man-machine interface of the automated production system at large industrial enterprises and service systems. The emphasis is on the multi-item inventory control in the case of incomplete information on the demand characteristics, demand-closed delivery system control, and dependent demand. The main inventory control performance index used in this book consists in meeting the prescribed delivery reliability condition. The control algorithms are developed with the modern tools of adaptation theory, mathematical programming, and stochasic optimization. The examples are supplied of the practical application of the mrthods developed to control the inventories of semi-finished products in metallurgy, tools and equipment in machine-building, drugs in pharmacy, etc. The book is intended for scientists ans engineers specializing in design of application software packages for automated production systems.

Аннотация: This is a book for chemical engineers. It allows the engineer to calculate how rapidly components in a mixture move with respect to each other. This is important in the designing of equipment such as reactors and separation units. The method covers both traditional and modern equipment, including catalytic and membrane processes. The method is based on a force balance of each species in the mixture. (This in contrast to the Fick equation normally used). It can handle any number of components and considers forces due to gradients of concentration; and of electrical, pressure, centrifugal and other fields. It leads to a unified description of all mass transfer processes: distillation, absorption, electrodialysis, heterogeneous catalysis, chromatography, ultrafiltration and many others.

A chapter has also been added on the use of crawler tractors in logging work because theirb rapid adaptation to the logger's needs indicates the extensive adoption of this form of equipment. This chapter hs been prepared by A. Koroleff, a Russina forest engineer, who has spent much time in studying the use of this kind of equipment on logging operations in the United States. The subject matter has been rearranged, in part, to better meet the needs of the teacher and student and much of the text has been rewritten

Аннотация: A research programme in New Brunswick coordinating the use of radar, specially-instrumented aircraft, and observations from platforms extending above the forest canopy has established the massive scale and regularity of evening take-off flights by spruce budworm moth, Choristoneura fumiferena, and of subsequent nocturnal dispersal at levels high above the ground. A night-viewing telescope showed moths taking off from the tree crowns up until 2330 h, 2.5 h after sunset, while radar dot echoes of uniform strength and size began to appear each night at about the same time. Direct identification of radar echoes was provided by simultaneous catches of budworm moths taken in insect-collecting nets on Cessna 185 aircraft. Moths collected during emigration, displacement, and immigration contained a high proportion of egg-carrying females.

Аннотация: Basically, a decay process in wood can be described as an aerobic breakdown of wood under the development of CO2 and H2O. Less intense processes, not investigated in this paper, can also take place under anaerobic condidtions. Weight-loss tests are the most common method for measuring the decay. These tests are time consuming and are fraught with various practical difficulties. The purpose of this investigation was to study the CO2 output of decaying wood. A simple method which made very small demands on laboratory equipment was used. The method is compared with weight-loss tests
