Аннотация: The genus Pinus is one of the most widely distributed genera of trees in the Northern Hemisphere. The pines extend from the polar region to the tropics. The pines dominate the natural vegetation in many regions. The genus includes some of the most valuable timber trees in the world, and is readily distinguished frome other plants. For all of these reasons a great deal of information has accumulated about the natural distribution of the pines. This publication summarizes this information in the form of maps, and indicates the sources of information wherever possible

The maps of subdivisions combined from those of individual species show clearly and graphically the maximum natural range of all component species. These compiled maps of groups of related species may be useful in further researches, particularly in classification, geograpgical distribution, tree breeding and introduction, and evolution

These systems can be adopted in order to establish a world soil classification, when the exact value of the taxonomic units is determined (class, type, genus, etc), according to a system of diagnostic indices. Аннотация: The genus Larix Mill.(larch) represents a great part of the boreal and alpine forests. Larch species are the most common conifers in Siberia and they have an important role in European and North American forest ecosystems and forest economies.The value of these group of species are expected to increase in the future. There are at least three different reasons for that assumption: 1. Larch has highly appreciated technical wood properties. 2. Intensive cutting during the past three centuries, has made larch a threatened group of species in some parts of the world. 3. Increasing access to Siberia will make forestry and forest harvest of larch an important part of the forest economy and ecology.

Аннотация: One species of Citriobatus, one of Hymenosporum, and 13 of Pittosporum are recognized in the Papuasian region. Keys to and distribution maps of all of them and their intraspesific taxa are given. Diagnoses and the Papuasian distribution of previously known species of Pittosporum are included. A brief account of the ecology and phenology of the Papuasian species of Pittosporum is presented and related to evolution in the genus in the Papuasian and Malesian region. The genus is more diverse in Papuasia than elsewhere, from which conclusions relating to centres of origin and migration have been drawn.

Аннотация: These mites are among the most host-specific associates of scolytid beetles: 16 of the 18 species or subspecies of Iponemus associated with the nearctic, pine-feeding ipines are monospecific, and each of the other two is restricted two closely related species of hosts. The mites and the beetles together are considered with regard to size correlations, the degree of host specificity, the mites as taxonomic indicators of their hosts, biogeography, life history, and the role of egg parasitism by the mites in the population regulation of their hosts.

Аннотация: The species of the genus Macrophya Dahlbom (Tenthredininae) of North America are revised. 46 species and two subgenera are recognized. The subgenus Paramacrophya Forsius is newly synonymized with Macrophya s. str. 11 species are described as new.
