Аннотация: With much of what we know about the pathogenesis of disease coming from the systematic and careful study of histological material, histology has proven to be an incredibly valuable area of study. In Histology Protocols, expert researchers in the field contribute detailed methods involving the preparation of tissue, providing an overview of fixation, embedding, and processing, along with the required techniques for the retrieval of RNA from histological sections, followed by sections on routine and specialist histological staining techniques, including immuno-, lectin, and hybridization histochemistry, histological staining, as well as specific methods for the in situ identification of hypoxia and apoptosis, and details on the advances in imaging and image analysis. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology™ series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and notes on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and cutting-edge, Histology Protocols will provide molecular biologists with the basic histochemical techniques and histologists with the molecular techniques necessary to realize the potential of their resource.

Аннотация: This volume deals with the isolation, fusion, culture, immobillization, cryopreservation and ultrastructural studies on protoplasts and the regeneration of somatic hybrids and cybrids. The technology and literature on the regeneration of complete plants from protoplasts of rice, potato, soybean, linseed, cabbage, chicory, lettuce, butterbur, orchids, citrus and some other tree species are discussed. Various methods of fusion and determination of viability are reviewed, and the work on interspecific and intergenetic somatic hybridization in Lycopersicon, Petunia, Nicotiana, Solanum, Glycine, Citrus, Brassica, Medicago, and Trifolium species is presented. These studies reflect the far-reaching implications of protoplast in genetic engineering of plants

Аннотация: This volume deals with the use of in vitro biotechnological methods for the imrovement of creals, vegetables, legumes, and tubers. It presents novel and unconventional approaches in cell and tissue culture work using protoplast fusion, somatic hybridization, production of haploids, conservation of germ plasm, and the induction of genetic variability in crops. A special feature of this book is the section on potential new crops, such as triticale, hordecale, winged bean, buckwheat, and Amaranthus. This compilation of 33 chapters by international experts has been tailored as an up-to-date reference and textbook for plant breeders, plant pathologists, horticulturists, geneticists, and botanists, as well as for teachers and students of agriculture

spruce -- hybridization

Аннотация: The hypothesis was tested that red spruce and black spruce are two distinct species which are capable of hybridizing, and that intrigressive hybridization or introgression has occurred since Pleistocene glaciations. Evidence was obtained from the literature regarding F1 hybrids, isolating mechanisms, and the possible evolution of the species. Data are presented concerning morphological variation of seedlings in provenance tests, and of trees in natural stands. Mosr samples from the overlapping range showed a proportion of individuals typical of one species with other individuals showing a degree of resemblance to the other species. In these latter individuals, character assotiation was evident. While the data are not conclusive, they are compatible with the theory of introgression

larch -- variability -- hybridization -- distribution

Аннотация: There is a growing interest in Siberian larch species among researchers and practicioners from abroad, mainly due to their fast growth and excellent wood properties. Some attempts of introducing Siberian larch species as commercial plantations have already been initiated in western countries. However, the knowledge of botanical, ecological and silvicultural features of Siberian larch species is rather poor outside of Russia. Because of its economic importance for Russian forestry the Siberian larch species have been comprehensively studied for many years and many papers as well as a number of monographs have been published, most of them in Russian. The large Russian expertise concerning regionalisation of seed sources, seed crop and quality, seed orchards, seedling production in nurseries and silvicultural practices in commercial plantations beyond their range of natural distribution is presented in this report. May it support foreign foresters in their efforts to enlarge use of Siberian larch species.

Аннотация: This book is intended as an introductory text for future professional tree breeders; those, primarily foresters, who will have ocassion during their careers to help in some phase of tree breeding activity such as selection of plus trees, choosing a site for a seed orchard, or establishment of a test plantations; and for those interested in planting trees and wishing to evaluate for themselves new varieties as they become available. It can be used in tree improvement studies are summirized briefly in the early chapters. They are presented descriptively and without proof of their validity. For those interested in delving further into genetic concepts, textbook of fundamental genetics should be consulted.

Аннотация: The aim of this study is to analyze whether there are systematic differences in the flowering parameters, their geographical correlations or in adaption to climate between the two birch species. Are the effects of temperature and the light factor equal for both species, and do they differ from those controlling Norway spruce and Scots pine? Is Linsser's principle of proportional heat sums valid for birch species? This book studied and the other questions. To answer these questions, the within-year and the between-year variations in the timing of anthesis involved were measured and tested with the three parameters using two alternative reference points, median of anthesis and peak pollen catch day. The geographical variation of pollen catches was also measured and possible geographical correlations were sought.

Sukachev Institute of Forest SB RAS. - Novosibirsk : GEO, 2013. - 193 с. : il. - Пер. изд. : Естественная гибридизация древесных растений / Игорь Юрьевич Коропачинский, Леонид Иосифович Милютин. - Новосибирск, 2006. - 200 экз. - ISBN 978-5-906284-06-8 : Б. ц.

Аннотация: This monograph generalizes the results of multiyear studies on natural interspecific hybridization in woody plants and shows the key importance of the understanding of this widespread phenomenon for improving our knowledge of woody plant evolution, taxonomy, and breeding. Methodologies and results of the investigation on hybrid population structure are presented for genera Larix, Picea, Betula, Alnus, Caragana, and ribes found in Siberia. A list of natural interspecific hybrids in the woody plants growing within the former USSR is first included in this book.
