Аннотация: The mathematical works of S.L. Sobolev were strongly motivated by particular problems coming from applications/ In his celebrated book "Applications of Functional Analysis in Mathematical Physics" (1950) and other words, S. Sobolev introduced general methods that turned out to be very influential in the study of mathematical physics in the second half of the XXth century. This volume, dedicated to the century of S.L. Sobolev, presents the latest results on some important problems of mathematical physics describing, in particular, phenomena of superconductivity with random fluctuations, wave propagation, perforated domains and bodies with defects of different types, spectral asymptotics for Dirac energy, Lame system with residual stress, optimal control problems for partial differential equations and inverse problems admiting numerous interpretations. Methods of modern functional analysis are essentially used in the investigation of these problems.

Аннотация: In 2007, scientists estimated the direct cost of diseases associated with mould and dampness on the US population to be in the range of 4 billion dollars, and the indirect costs of lost work and school days are gauged even higher. The US Centers for Disease Control recently concluded that elimination of moisture and mouldy materials in the home definitively results in improved health. Unfortunately, problems of accurate assessment and precise identification plague the full understanding of the effects of mould on human health. Addressing exposure assessment and identification, Microorganisms in Home and Indoor Work Environments: Diversity, Health Impacts, Investigation, and Control, Second Edition discusses the methodology for conducting investigations on indoor environments, including details on key fungi and actinobacteria, and reflects advances in predicting their occurrence in buildings in various parts of the world. Beginning with a review of types of microorganisms in outdoor and indoor air, their growth and control in home and work environments, and their role in respiratory disease, this second edition presents new studies on pollen and its allergenic effects, the mechanistic basis for the effects of toxins and inflammatory agents on lung biology, and the use of molecular methods for determining microbial contaminants. Аннотация: На основе методов традиционной и весовой лесной таксации получены показатели фитомассы и годичной чистой первичной продукции (ЧПП) еловых, пихтовых, сосновых и березовых деревьев и насаждений в градиентах загрязнений от Среднеуральского медеплавильного завода (СУМЗ) и Карабашского медеплавильного комбината (КМБ). Фитомасса и ЧПП сосновых и березовых насаждений (т/га) возрастает по мере удаления от КМК до 10-12 км и затем стабилизируются, а вблизи СУМЗ из стагнация в елово-пихтовых насаждениях наступает уже при удалении на расстояние 4-5 км. Относительные показатели продуктивности хвои (листвы) деревьев, т.е. отношение прироста площади сечения ствола к массе хвои (листвы) и отношение прироста площади сечения ствола к площади заболони закономерно снижаются по мере приближения к источнику загрязнений. Зависимость фитомассы и ЧПП елово-пихтовых и березовых древостоев в градиентах загрязнений от индекса токсичности (по Cu, Pb и Fe) описывается логистической кривой как нисходящей ветвью петли гистерезиса. Установлено, что переход экосистем из одного стабильного состояния (в фоновой зоне) в другое (в импактной зоне) происходит вблизи СУМЗ в интервале индекса токсичности от 20 до 40, а вблизи КМК - от 10 до 80. Содержание сухого вещества в древесине, коре, ветвях и хвое (листве), а также плотность древесины и коры зависят от расстояния от КМК и СУМЗ. Предложены соответствующие справочно-нормативные таблицы. Результаты могут быть использованы при картографировании продуктивности лесов вблизи загрязняющих производств.

Аннотация: The work presented considers whole plant aspects of the effects of non-nutrient metals on Picea abies seedlings. All work was carried out using seedlings grown in nutrient solutions under controlled conditions. The investigation concentrated on the effect of the metals, Al, Pb, Hg and CH3Hg. The distribution of metals between apoplast and symplast was determined using 109Cd. The aim of study was to develop a model of the effect of these metals on Picea abies in terms of the whole plant, and to assess the relevance of these metals as a soil-mediated stress in forest ecosystems.

Аннотация: Based on this investigation recommendations were developed for a systematical reduction of the number of stems in the age range from 30 to 50 years. They are based on pure Douglas-fir stands on sites with brown podsolic soils over clayslate respectively greywacke of the Douglas-fir sites in the Eifel-Hills of Rhineland-Palatinate. There seems to be no doubt about the fact, that thinning can be increased without reducing specific gravity and strength properties of Douglas-fir under the conditions investigated

Аннотация: The potential role of the Siberian permafrost area on global warming, especially on carbon dioxide budget and release of methane, is presently one of the most urging problems of the world. In this regard, our cooperation between Japan and Russia that started in 1992 belongs to a work of pioneers. The joint effort has been organized with several different budget programs and without any specific leadership, as in the case inthe previous years. It started as exchange of information and discussion of field schedule and instruments. Mutual agreement of field transportation followed. Results of our research programs have been reported at the present symposium; most of them are still under investigation, and their results being preliminary. Purpose of this volume is information exchange, not reporting of the final results

Аннотация: The action of environmental factors on forest trees results in modi fications in their physiological behaviour to varying degrees. In extreme cases, these modifications bring about macroscopic changes which may occur at different levels of biological organisation: organelles, cells. tissues, organs, whole organisms. Investigation of these symptoms and their causes becomes difficult due to the interactions between the factors involved. Frequently, factors, sequences, synergies or antagonisms lead to a non-specific symptomatology. This limits scientific interpretation and predictions.

Аннотация: The aims of this investigation were: to study the variation between stems and stands in terms of internal knot properties (diameter, sound length, longitudinal angle and number of knots per whorl) of Scots pine in Sweden, on the basis of the Swedish Scots Pine Stem Bank; to study the correlations between various knot properties; to develop knot-property models based on site, stand and tree variables. The vertical variation within stems was not within the scope of this study.
