Аннотация: На основе обширного фактического материала осуществлён многоаспектный анализ лесных ресурсов Северо-Востока России. Описаны эколого-географические особенности лиственничных лесов Республики Саха, Магаданской области, Корякского и Чукотского автономных округов. Представлена система моделей, связывающих биометрические показатели лесных экосистем в статике и динамике. Оценена динамика депонирования углерода различными компонентами лиственничных насаждений в процессе их роста. На основе изучения основных резервуаров и потоков углерода оценен полный углеродный бюджет лиственничных экосистем рассматриваемого региона за период с 1993 по 2003 годы.

Аннотация: Tree age distribution determines stand size structure and is related to disturbance history and stand dynamics. Data are presented from 40 pure larch stands from six locations on the Taimyr peninsula and Evenk region in the northern open forests of Russian Siberia. A Weibull density function was used to describe actual age distribution and to simulate age distribution. All stands were found to have a multi-aged structure. The average coefficient of variation for age is about 48%. The range of tree ages exceed 400 years in the oldest forests. The patterns of age distribution change for different age groups. For the youngest stands (40-80 years old) the age distribution was leptocurtic and positively skewed, whereas for middle-aged forests (80-180 years old) it tended to be more mesokurtic and symmetric. In the oldest stands (more than 180 years old) the distribution had a platykurtic form. A high correlation was found between the Weibull function coefficients and the coefficient of age variation and for the mean age. The oldest forests were found in river valleys. Middle-aged forests occur more commonly on middle slopes and the youngest forests occupy top slopes and uplands. A more normal tree age distribution assumes a study area less damaged by forest fires than in the more southern parts of the boreal forest

Аннотация: There is a growing interest in Siberian larch species among researchers and practicioners from abroad, mainly due to their fast growth and excellent wood properties. Some attempts of introducing Siberian larch species as commercial plantations have already been initiated in western countries. However, the knowledge of botanical, ecological and silvicultural features of Siberian larch species is rather poor outside of Russia. Because of its economic importance for Russian forestry the Siberian larch species have been comprehensively studied for many years and many papers as well as a number of monographs have been published, most of them in Russian. The large Russian expertise concerning regionalisation of seed sources, seed crop and quality, seed orchards, seedling production in nurseries and silvicultural practices in commercial plantations beyond their range of natural distribution is presented in this report. May it support foreign foresters in their efforts to enlarge use of Siberian larch species.

Аннотация: European larch from different geographycal regions of its natural range of distribution varies in seed weight. These differences in seed weight are rather distinct, despite the fact that they have been found - as far as can be judged from the publication. The empty seeds, which usually have about 70 per cent of the weight of filled seeds, can influenece the thousand grain weight differently, depending upon the extent to which they occur in samples. However, it is rather difficult to separate empty and filled seeds of larch, owing to the small difference in their weight. Аннотация: In the present paper the meiotic development of three larch species was srudied. Emphasis was paid to the analysis of the conditions of importance for beaking the dormancy of the deplotene stage as well as the factors resposible for the initiation of further development from diplotene. On the basis of detailed analysis of meiosis in a few clones 1966-67 as well as in larger number of clones in 1967-68, the following characteristics of the meiotic development of the three species were observed. It was shown that irregularities did not appear until sensitive cells were exposed to low temperatures. All phases of active division during meiosis were believed to be highly sensitive to low temperatures. A direct relationship between the maximum percentage of irregularities during meiosis and pollen sterility was demonstrated. This means that cytological examinations during meiosis could advantageously be performed in order to predict the pollen sterility. With the aid of such tests the crossing programmes in seed orchards should be planned

Аннотация: The investigation showed that there is an interaction between photo- and thermo-period which determines the plants' vegetative cycle. In comparison with the climate of the place of origin of the larch, in northern Scandinavia the days are longer and the temperature lower in the autumn. This is the reason why the introduced larch hardens poorly and too late, which in its turn makes it sensitive to early frosts.

Аннотация: This monograph on the pine bark bug is the result of many years' reserach work in Scandinavia and other countries. The author gives a historical survey of the places of discovery of this insect, which, not so long ago, was hardly regarded as harmful in the West-European countries. The damage is done by sucking out the cell juice of young pine trees which causes deformity and destruction of the vessels. The damage done by the insect has been explained by means of experimental work and observations. This insect is only to be found on Scots pine and larch. It prefers clean, dry and warm places and likes pine cultures on light soil. The thick, shadowy, and mixed cultures are only attacked at the edges. The consequences of the appearnce of the insect depend mainly upon the size of the insect population and the age of the tree. The chances fro 6-10-year-old pines to endure an attack are very small. The necessary prophylactic measure to be taken is to plant the cultures with closer planting space. It is possible to achieve successful results in the control of this insect by fertilizing with nitrogen and also by using the insecticide lindan.

Аннотация: Seedlings of larch, pine and spruce were grown in darkness and some of them were illuminated for 24 or 48 hours. Chloroplast differentiation in cotyledons of these seedlings was investigated by electron microscopy. In the larch the dark-formed chloroplasts have immature lamellar systems with minute grana formed by 2-3 thylakoids. In the pine the diameters of the grana are much larger but they are still formed by only 2-4 thylakoids. Corresponding spruce chloroplasts have advanced lamellar systems with large grana containing up to about 10 thylakoids. Chroplasts of larch and pine have a few large prolamellar bodies with a more or less narrow spacing of their structural units, while spacing or a combination of both. All three species have large starch grains in their chloroplasts. After 48 hours of illumination the conifer seedlings posses mature chloroplasts with many prominent grana. Prolamellar bodies are only found in a small fraction of the larch chloroplasts. Chloroplast strach grains are common in the spruce, but rare or absent in the other two speies.
