sulphur -- chlorine -- analyses -- X-ray fluorescence procedure

Аннотация: The procedure is based upon X-ray fluorescence, and has been found very suitable with a largr number of samples. The results of analysis indicated that pine needles and birch leaves contain chloride in no more than negligible amounts. The highest percentages of sulphur encountered in pine needles were less than one half of the amount considered dangerous (0.5 per cent), and practically the same as those derived ealier in the vicinity of soidium sulphite pulp mill in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. Similar mean values were found for the total sulphur in pine needle samples collected from Lahti and from the central area of Rauma town locating about two kilometers to the north and north east from pulp mill

forest roads -- network -- locating -- planning -- spatial analyis

Аннотация: The basic objective in planning a forest road network is to minimise the total cost of terrain transportation, road transportation, road construction and maintenance by controlling the road location, road network density and road quality, besides environmental and ecological considerations. Studies on the optimisation of fiorest road network have encountered difficulties in taking into account the spatial diversity of forest terrain and stands. The spatial data handling-network routing system developed in this study proves to be usefu lin assisting forest managers to carry out the planning of forest road netwoks by covering the spatial and economic analyses. The system applies the tecniques used in geographic information system (GIS) in the manipulation of the neccessary spatial data. The system uses shortest path algorithms for analysing terrain transportation, road transportation and road construction in a given planning area.
