Аннотация: Монография посвящена разработке точных и приближенных численно-аналитических методов моделирования скалярных и векторных полей излучения в средах большой оптической толщины, в том числе в полубесконечных плоских средах при многократном неизотропном рассеянии. Большое внимание уделено аналитическому исследованию асимптотических режимов и угловой структуры внутренних полей диффузного излучения в таких средах. Вводятся новые понятия теории многократного неизотропного рассеяния света - фотометрические и поляриметрические инварианты поля излучения, для определения которых получены точные линейные сингулярные интегральные уравнения. Рассматриваются прямые и обратные задачи теории переноса излучения, связанные с восстановлением полного набора оптических параметров исследуемых сред на основе спектральных измерений их коэффициентов отражения в видимой области спектра λ=0.400-0.800 мкм. Изложенные методы и полученные результаты применяются для численного имитационного моделирования скалярных и векторных полей излучения в земной и планетных облачных атмосферах в интересах решения задач прикладной спектроскопии и атмосферной оптики. Для специалистов в области теории переноса излучения, физики планетных атмосфер, астрофизики и оптики природных сред, студентов и аспирантов геофизических и астрофизических специальностей.

Аннотация: Timber quality in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) stands in Sweden has deteriorated during the 20th century. A possible cause of this is the increasing proportion of timber that originates in planted stands. Two naturally regenerated and two planted pine stands, of the same genetic origin, were compared. The planted stands were established as spacing experiments (1.25 x 1.25-2.5 x 2.5 m) at Tonnersjoheden Experimental Forest (lat. 56 grades 42'N, long, 13 grades 06'E, alt 60 m). Volume growth and timber quality, i.e. taper, crookednees, number of branches, branch thickness, branch angle, crown size, occurrence of spike knots and damage were compared. The quality of dominant and co-dominant trees was higher in the naturally regenerated stands than in the planted stands. Of the planted trees, only 25% were straight, compared with 86% of naturally regenerated trees. In the planted stands, the mean diameter of the thickest branch below 2m was 23 mm, compared to 15mm inthe naturally regenerated stands. Timber quality and planting density were also positively correlated, quality being very poor at the widest spacings. Volume growth at initial spacings of 1.75 x 1.75m and denser was estimated to be 5-10% higher than that in the naturally regenerated stands.

Аннотация: Test were prepared with four types of adhesives similar to those used in industry for the fabrication of structural glued-laminated timber. Strength tests were made on these adhasives in glueline thicknesses ranging from 0.001 to 0.051 inch in increments of 0.005 inch. The strength of all the adhesives generally decreases with an increase of glueline thickness and casein glue was found to possess very poor gap-filling properties. The effects of long-term aging on adhesives in thick gluelines is under study

Аннотация: The investigation shows the results of 74 plantation plots, started during the years 1953-1961. Most of the plots are situated on unburned ground in northern Sweden and started in the years 1958-1961. Аннотация: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of fire damage on pine stands by assessing the diferences between 24 stands in forest districts of Regional Directorate of Warsaw State Forests. Comparisons were made of the amount of lying dead wood, thickness of forest litter, forest-floor cover by herbaceous plants and shrubs, the density of seedlings, natural seeding regeneration, low and high undergrowth, and number and condition of stumps in pine stands of 2nd and 3rd age classes following 5-6 years after understorey fires.
