Аннотация: In the present paper the gross changes in the indirect flight muscles of the Douglas-fir beetle from the teneral adult stage through gallery construction to re-emergence are described and discussed and some mention is made of histological changes. The muscle with which we are concerned in this paper are the indirect flight muscles, principally those of the metathorax. There are the dorsal longitudinal muscles or depressors of the wings, and the dorso-ventral muscles or levators of the wings.
