Аннотация: The roots of all plants are associated in the soil with fungi and very many form specialized mycorrhizal organs with them. The ways in which these micorrhizal organs function is a problem of importance not only to academic botanists, but also to those concerned with the cultivation of economic plants. This book consists of a careful and detailed analysis of the available experimental evidence made against the background of a critical survey of the known facts about all aspects of the subject, the coherent picture that emerges, that various kinds of mycorrhiza are functional absorbing organs, has enabled the author to highlight the more important problems which remain to be solved
