Аннотация: Two methods of determining merchantable cubic foot volume have been developed and described. Each method is based on regression functions which describe the distribution of volume over the tree stem and can be applied to an estimate of total volume to compute merchantable volume to specified limits.

Аннотация: Three models were developed to express the distribution of volume over the tree stem. Statistical tests indicated significant differences between size classes within species. An analysis of volume residual showed, however, that a single expression for each model was applicable to all trees regardless of size or species. The Application of the volume distribution models for estimating merchantable cubic-foot volume is briefly discussed
