Аннотация: Ideally, the limited resources of a forest protection agency should be allocated to the various activities of the agency in a manner that will achieve the greatest return. However, up to now, such decisions have been based largely on intuition. Now operations research techniques offer an improved aid to dicision makers, techniques developed for other disciplines-notably defence and water resources- but surprisingly well adaptable to forestry problems.
