Аннотация: In the mapping of about 520 sq. km.of the Eastern Monsech Area in the Province of Lerida, Spain, a study of lineaments on photos covering the area was made. Lineaments are defined as the photo impression of joints and fractures with little or no displacement. Three types of lineaments were observed in this area: a) vegetation alignments, b) linear topographic features, c) linear drainage channels. Statistical analyses of the orientation and frequency of lineaments show that different geologists produce essentially the same lineament pattern of an area. The relationship of lineaments to joints and other fractures is also discussed.
