Аннотация: Sources of magnetic field are often approximated by dipoles or current loops, however it this work they are approximated by magnetized prisms instead, which is possible due to equivalency between magnetized objects and currents. Distribution of effective magnetization is then obtained by solving inverse magnetometry problem using the adaptive method of refining the unknown values based on discrepancy between initial values and model values. Z-components of Earth’s magnetic field in IGRF-2005 model in geocentric coordinate system are used as initial values. This allows obtaining the distribution of volumetric currents and magnetic moments for the Earth’s core, which is found to be significantly asymmetric, with four major anomalies, corresponding to surface anomalies: Australian, Canadian, South-Atlantic and Siberian. Work contains additional analysis of the model, initial values and features of the used method in relation to obtained result. Potential source of energy maintaining the currents is suggested, in form of tidal forces, caused by the gravitational influence of the Moon and the Sun. © 2018, International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference.
