Аннотация: A general geometrical setting of nonequilibrium thermodynamics is developed. The approach is based on the notion of the natural projection which generalizes Ehrenfests' coarse-graining. It is demonstrated how derivations of irreversible macroscopic dynamics from the microscopic theories can be addressed through a study of stability of quasiequilibrium manifolds.

Аннотация: We identify a planar, pressure-balanced structure bounded by sharp changes in the dynamic pressure plastered against the front boundary of the magnetic cloud which passed Earth on 20 November 2003. The front boundary of the magnetic cloud (MC) is particularly well-defined in this case, being located where the He(++)/H(+) number density ratio jumps from 4 to 10% for the first time and the proton plasma beta decreases sharply from similar to 1 to similar to 0.001. The feature, estimated to have a length scale similar to 50 RE in the Sun-Earth direction, bears close resemblance to a slow mode transition region in that the magnetic pressure decreases, the plasma pressure increases, and their temporal variations are anticorrelated. Using a 2-D MHD simulation, we hypothesize that a pressure-balanced structure was encountered by the MC en route to Earth. Our calculations reproduce qualitatively the major features of the observations. Using a simplified geometry suggested by the observations, we find that the lateral deflection speed of the plasma is less than the lateral expansion speed of the MC. We infer that the structure traversed the MC sheath in similar to 20 h, consistent with its crossing of the MC's shock at 0.6-0.7 AU. The finding is consistent with the recent paradigm according to which solar wind plasma and magnetic field tend to pile up in front of interplanetary ejecta because the expansion of the ejecta hinders the shocked solar wind plasma from deflecting effectively around the object. Also, the inferred "age'' of the layer contiguous to the surface of the MC, the earliest relic of its passage through the inner heliosphere, is in agreement with general estimates.

Аннотация: With its similar to12 h-long period of strongly northward magnetic field, the coronal mass ejection which passed Earth on April 11, 1997 affords an excellent opportunity of studying Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) activity at the dayside magnetopause as a function of the clock angle, theta, of the interplanetary field (IMF). A correlation between the wavelength of the KH waves and theta may be expected on the basis of our recent model, where activity is generated in strips which broaden as theta decreases. We identify two 2-hour long intervals of small, but different, clock angles, and make a preliminary test of model predictions, using records from two ground magnetometer chains, both on the dayside. Taking into account the local time of the magnetometer arrays and the geometry of the KH-active strips, we show that the resonant stations measured considerably more spectral power density in the 3-4 mHz range during the phase with smaller theta. Moreover, as theta increases, the spectral power spectrum shifted to higher frequencies that were almost absent for smaller theta. (C) 2003 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. Аннотация: Recently, analytical solutions for the nonlinear Couette flow demonstrated the relevance of the lattice Boltzmann (LB) models to hydrodynamics beyond the continuum limit [S. Ansumali et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 124502 (2007)]. In this paper, we present a systematic study of the simplest LB kinetic equation—the nine-bit model in two dimensions—in order to quantify it as a slip flow approximation. Details of the aforementioned analytical solution are presented, and results are extended to include a general shear- and force-driven unidirectional flow in confined geometry. Exact solutions for the velocity, as well as for pertinent higher-order moments of the distribution functions, are obtained in both Couette and Poiseuille steady-state flows for all values of rarefaction parameter (Knudsen number). Results are compared with the slip flow solution by Cercignani, and a good quantitative agreement is found for both flow situations. Thus, the standard nine-bit LB model is characterized as a valid and self-consistent slip flow model for simulations beyond the Navier-Stokes approximation.

Аннотация: Experiments and numerical simulations were carried out for shear-driven two-phase flows in a confined volume of liquid under conditions of normal gravity. The geometry corresponds to a cylindrical liquid bridge surrounded by a concentric annular gas channel with external solid walls. The internal part consists of solid supports at the bottom and top, while the central part is a liquid zone filled with a viscous liquid and kept in its position by surface tension. Gas enters into the annular duct, flows between solid walls and upon reaching the liquid zone entrains initially quiescent liquid. The flow dynamics is governed by the Navier–Stokes equations in both fluids, which are numerically solved in the exact experimental geometry taking into account interface deformation by gravity. In the experiments 5 cSt silicone oil and air were used as test fluids and the flow was monitored by means of particle tracking velocimetry. The experiments were performed for unit aspect ratio (the ratio of liquid zone length to its radius), while the simulations of shear-driven flow were carried out for a wide range of parameters. A particular attention is focused on the effect of free surface shape and fluids viscosity contrast on the interfacial flow dynamics. The current study suggests a linear dependence between velocities of gas and liquid when the viscosity of the liquid is larger by two orders of magnitude than that of gas. Another relation is proposed when the fluids viscosity ratio, μl/μg, is less than 50.

    Liquid entrainment by gas flow along the interface of a liquid bridge

A new experimental set-up including an optical system for precise measurements of the interface displacement has been designed and developed. In the experiments silicone oil 5cSt was used as a test liquid and air as gas. On numerical side the dynamical response of an isothermal liquid bridge to a coaxial gas flow is examined by simulations of the Navier–Stokes equations. The attention is focused on the following points: time-dependent formation of the equilibrium shape of a liquid bridge in gravity conditions and its deformation by a gas flow, simulation of a flow pattern in a liquid/gas system with deformed free surface. The comparison of the numerical and experimental results for the interface deformation exhibits a satisfactory agreement.

Аннотация: Flapping waves are most noticeable large-scale perturbations of the magnetotail current sheet, whose nature is still under discussion. They represent rather slow (an order of magnitude less than typical Alfven speed) waves propagating from the center of the sheet to its flanks with a typical speed of 20-60 km/s, amplitude of 1-2 R-e and quasiperiod of 2-10 min. The double-gradient MHD model, which was elaborated in Erkaev et al. (2007) predicts two (kink and sausage) modes of the flapping waves with differences in their geometry and propagation velocity, but the mode structure is hard to resolve observationally. We investigate the possibility of mode identification by observing the rotation of magnetic field and plasma velocity vectors from a single spacecraft. We test theoretical results by analyzing the flapping oscillations observed by Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms spacecraft and confirm that character of observed rotation is consistent with kink mode determination made by using multispacecraft methods. Also, we checked how the existence of some obstructive conditions, such as noise, combined modes, and multiple sources of the flapping oscillations, can affect on the possibility of the modes separation with suggested method.

Аннотация: The proposed model of formation of the reinforcing framework in the manufacture of an axisymmetric shell by the CPW method makes it possible to numerically determine the thicknesses and rates of filling the layers, reinforcement angles as a function of the main parameters of the technological process, geometry of the mandrel, and characteristics of the reinforcing filament. It was established that the thicknesses of the layers, reinforcement rates and angles, and, as a consequence, the effective stiffness characteristics of the composite are substantially variable both along the meridian and over the thickness of the shell. Аннотация: Цель исследования. Определение перспектив использования функционализированных ДНК-аптамерами магнитных никелевых нанодисков с золотым покрытием для адресной клеточной хирургии онкологических заболеваний. Матери алы и методы. В качестве модели опухоли была использована асцитная карцинома Эрлиха. Теоретически и экспериментально исследованы структуры магнитного поля пермаллоевых и кобальтовых дисков Au-Fe(20)Ni(80)-Au и Au-Co-Au. Результаты. Выполнены оценки механического воздействия нанодисков на клеточную мембрану в переменном магнитном поле. Определены оптимальные состав, геометрия и структура остаточной намагниченности нанодисков. Экспериментально in vitro и in vivo для асцитной карциномы Эрлиха показана возможность использования функционализированных ДНК-аптамерами трехслойных Au-Ni-Au нанодисков с дипольной структурой остаточной намагниченности для адресного разрушения клеток-мишеней. 3аключе-ие. На основании теоретических расчетов и экспериментальных данных сделано заключение о том, что нанодиски Au-Ni-Au, обладающие магнитными свойствами, могут быть использованы для разработки новых методов и препаратов для малоинвазивной клеточной нанохирургии, которая позволяет адресно и дозировано уничтожать только клетки опухоли, в том числе, и метастазы.
The aim of the research. Determination of the prospects of application the functionalized by DNA-aptamers magnetic nickel nanodiscs with gold coating for targeted cell cancer surgery. Materials and methods. As tumor model was used Ehrlich ascites carcinoma. Theoretically and experimentally were investigated the structures of the magnetic field of permalloy and cobalt disks Au-Fe (20) Ni (80) -Au and Au-Co-Au. Results. It were executed the estimation of the mechanical impact of nanodiscs to the cell membrane in an alternating magnetic field. It was determined the optimum composition, geometry and structure of the residual magnetization of nanodiscs. Experimentally in vitro and in vivo for Ehrlich ascites carcinoma was showed the use of functionalized DNA-aptamers three layer Au-Ni-Au nanodisks with dipole structure of the residual magnetization for address destruction of the target cells. Conclusion. On the basis of theoretical calculations and experimental data, it was concluded that nanodiscs Au-Ni-Au, with magnetic properties, can be used to develop new methods and products for minimally invasive cellular nanosurgery that allows targeted and dosed destroy only tumor cells, including metastasis.

    Ultimate pit limit substantiation for the purpose of forestry reclamation of lands at ballast quarries in Siberia

Аннотация: Slow-rate development of mineral resources in Siberia is connected with remoteness of mineral fields and deficiency in hard-surface roads. The approval of the government transport system program in Siberia requires boosting road metal production and quarrying expansion. Mined-out voids of depleted quarries disturb lands and remain bare for a long time. The situation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is of particular concern. It is urgently required to find planting methods for mined-out ballast quarries. The obstacle is the traditional geometry of mined-out open pits, with steep walls and vast bottom flooded with atmospheric precipitations. Ecological monitoring of mined-out surface mines in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and most effective vegetation of mined-out voids shows that, given the local climate (long cold winter and short hot summer), population of trees is higher on the southern and eastern pit walls, where moisture content is higher and trees are less dehumidified under the sun in simmer; of no less significance is flatness of slopes and weak inclination (3-5°) of roads towards pit walls, as well as presence of fertile soil layer in the walls. On special purpose plots of land 0.2 ha in area, trees have been counted per each element of a quarry, which makes the basis to develop recommendations on environmentally optimal shape of quarries: maximum area of the southern and eastern pitwalls to be slightly sloping (15-24°), minimum technologically reasoned area of bottom is shifted northwestward. The study is in accordance with the Fundamental Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences for 2013-2020 and the research plan of the Nauka Design and Engineering Center, ICT SB RAS for 2013-2017, under the project "Information Support Models and Technologies for Evaluation, Forecasting and Management of Regional Eco-Systems, Territorial Infrastructure and Natural and Industrial Safety".

Аннотация: A problem on stability of the viscous heat-conducting liquid flow in the vertical channel at given heat flux on the permeable solid walls is studied. The two-dimensional flow is described by an exact invariant solution of the microconvection equations. The investigation of the exact solution allows one to find out the extent of influence of the thermal load, gravity and the system geometry on the flow structure. Stability of the solution is investigated in the framework of the linear theory. The spectrum of the spatial characteristic perturbations is analyzed in the space of problem parameters. Typical forms of the hydrodynamic and thermal disturbances are presented and dependence of characteristics of the arising structures on the thermal load and gravity is established. Convective cells, hydrothermal rolls and polygonal structures can appear in the channel. By weak gravity the hydrothermal rolls are not formed. Changing heat flux and disturbance wave length lead to deformation of the cells and complication of the spatial form of the structures. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: Различные виды продукции, получаемые обработкой давлением из алюминиевых слитков, отливаемых полунепрерывным способом, широко применяются в аэрокосмической отрасли. Геометрия жидкой лунки в слитке существенно влияет на формирование структуры и качества слитка. Применение в качестве модификатора нанопорошка нитрида титана, который вводили в лунку, позволило получить точную ее геометрию.
Different types of products obtained by treatment of pressure aluminum ingots, cast by semi-continuous method, are widely used in the aerospace industry. The geometry of the liquid in pool of an ingot significantly affects the formation of the structure and quality of ingot. Use as a modifier of nanopowder titanium nitride, which is injected into the pool, allows us to obtain the exact geometry.

Аннотация: Различные виды продукции (лист, профиль и др.), получаемые методами обработки давлением (прокат, ковка, штамповка и др.) из слитков, отливаемых полунепрерывным способом, широко применяются в аэрокосмической отрасли. При этом в верхней части жидкого металла в кристаллизаторе существует так называемая лунка, представляющая собой конусообразный объем жидкого металла. Опыт показал, что геометрия лунки, ее глубина и форма существенно влияют на формирование структуры и качества слитка. Применение в качестве модификатора нанопорошка нитрида титана, который вводили в расплав в объеме прутка, позволило получить точную геометрию лунки.
Different types of products (sheet, profile, etc.) obtained by means of pressure treatment (rolling, forging, stamping, etc.) of ingots cast by the semicontinuous method, widely used in the aerospace industry. In the upper part of liquid metal in a mold there is a so-called «pool» which is a cone-shaped volume of liquid metal, and its circuit is a solidification front and is a boundary between the liquid metal (above the circuit) and the solid one (lower the circuit). Experience has shown that the geometry of the pool, its depth and shape significantly affect the formation of the structure and quality of such an ingot, so it is necessary to have data about this parameter. Use of the titanium nitride nanopowder that was added into the melt in the rod volume as a modifier made possible to obtain an exact geometry of the pool.

Аннотация: A review of the basic concepts shearlet transform spatial data observations. The possibilities of the new approach for the geometric analysis of complex medical images. The proposed method can improve the radiological diagnosis of urological diseases by detailing changes of tissues. On the basis of the developed method of spectral data decomposition is performed solution of filtration problem and isolating contour studied medical target. The task of image contrast is also solved for the better understanding of the found geometric features and patterns.
