    Modelling the structures and effective characteristics of composite material used for shells of oblique ply reinforcement

Аннотация: The problem of modelling the main geometrical characteristics, such as ply thickness, fibre reinforcement and angles of the structure of a composite material, is considered for an axisymmetrical shell made by oblique cross-ply winding. A model is proposed for shaping the reinforcing frame, which gives then a system of nonlinear equations for determining the characteristics desired as a function of the technological process, shape of the mandrel and properties of the reinforcing fibres. An algorithm is suggested for numerical analysis of the system. It has been found that if using non-cylindrical shapes of mandrels the ply thickness, fibre contents and angles, and effective elastic characteristics of a ready-made composite varied essentially both along meridian and thickness of the shell.

Аннотация: The proposed model of formation of the reinforcing framework in the manufacture of an axisymmetric shell by the CPW method makes it possible to numerically determine the thicknesses and rates of filling the layers, reinforcement angles as a function of the main parameters of the technological process, geometry of the mandrel, and characteristics of the reinforcing filament. It was established that the thicknesses of the layers, reinforcement rates and angles, and, as a consequence, the effective stiffness characteristics of the composite are substantially variable both along the meridian and over the thickness of the shell.
