Аннотация: Considering the Grad moment ansatz as a suitable first approximation to a closed finite-moment dynamics, the correction is derived from the Boltzmann equation. The correction consists of two parts, local and nonlocal. Locally corrected thirteen-moment equations are demonstrated to contain exact transport coefficients. Equations resulting from the nonlocal correction give a microscopic justification to some phenomenological theories of extended hydrodynamics

Аннотация: Group classification problem is solved for equations of motion of a binary mixture under the buoyancy force and thermodiffusion effect. These equations are parameterized by five arbitrary functions of two arguments. The admissible Lie symmetry algebras of generators are found depending on arbitrary elements. elliptical equation -- hyrotropic medium -- energy method -- electric field -- atmosphere -- ionosphere

Аннотация: Conventional two dimensional model for electric fields in the Earth’s ionosphere is analyzed to estimate its error. The main difficulties arise due to asymmetry of the conductivity tensor. We use the energy method and small parameter expansion. To make it possible in spite of asymmetry of the tensor coefficients the problem is reduced to the problem of minimum of proper quadratic energy functional. The variational principle is stated and proved for the 3-D boundary value problem. The error of the 2-D approximation is analyzed in the case, when conductor occupies a flat layer 0 < z < z0 and is homogeneous in z direction, and the vector of magnetic field has only z component. The results of numerical simulation of the electric field penetration from ground to the Earth’s ionosphere with reduction of the 3-D model of the ionospheric conductor to the 2-D model are presented. Precision of such an approach is demonstrated.

Аннотация: A ring of linear differential operators with smooth coefficients generated by two differentiations is considered. Concepts of operators closed with respect to commutation, a resultant of two operators, and a two-dimensional analogue of Wronskian are introduced. Sufficient conditions that two differential operators are generators of a left ideal annihilating a finite-dimensional space of functions are found. Differential operators annihilating given functions are constructed. The operators obtained transform solutions of one secondorder differential equation into solutions of another equation of the same order.

Аннотация: The model of convection in a multicomponent fluid is considered taking into account the cross-diffusion and the Soret effect. It is shown that the cross-diffusion coefficients can be eliminated by a linear change of composition and the thermal diffusion coefficients. It allows a simple incorporation of cross-diffusion phenomena into the results obtained for the case of diagonal diffusion matrix. Applications to the modelling of multicomponent flows in microgravity and terrestrial conditions are discussed. В© 2008 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

Аннотация: We study the Master equation with time--dependent coefficients, a linear kinetic equation for the Markov chains or for the monomolecular chemical kinetics. For the solution of this equation a path summation formula is proved. This formula represents the solution as a sum of solutions for simple kinetic schemes (kinetic paths), which are available in explicit analytical form. The relaxation rate is studied and a family of estimates for the relaxation time and the ergodicity coefficient is developed. To calculate the estimates we introduce the multi--sheeted extensions of the initial kinetics. This approach allows us to exploit the internal ("micro")structure of the extended kinetics without perturbation of the base kinetics.

Аннотация: The IVIDIL (Influence of VIbrations on DIffusion in Liquids) experiment was aimed at utilizing the International Space Station for investigating the effects of vibrations on liquid diffusion and thermodiffusion. The SODI-IVIDIL project of ESA is gathering together European, Canadian and Russian researchers with complementary skills to prepare and carry out the experiment, to process the raw data and perform numerical modeling of the phenomena. The experiment IVIDIL started on the October 5, 2009. In total 55 experimental runs were successfully completed by 20 January, 2010. A general description of the ISS facility related to the diffusion experiments and accessible for European researchers is briefly presented and some details about IVIDIL instrument are given. The scientific interest of this short article is focused on one of the objectives of the experiment: performing precise measurements of diffusion and thermodiffusion coefficients for binary mixtures in the absence of gravity. We demonstrate possibility of the experimental environment and report on the first results related to measurements of mass transport coefficients in the mixture with the negative Soret effect: 10% isopropanol (IPA)–90% water.

Аннотация: Laminar convective heat transfer of water-alumina nanofluid in a circular tube with uniform heat flux is investigated numerically on the basis of two-component model, which takes into account nanoparticle transport by diffusion and thermophoresis. A new expression for thermophoretic mobility is suggested on the basis of existing experimental results and theoretical concepts. It is shown that thermophoresis leads to a significant reduction of nanoparticle volume fraction in the boundary layer near the wall. The corresponding viscosity reduction causes the velocity increase near the wall and flattening of velocity profile near the tube axis to keep the mass flow rate constant. The decrease of wall shear stress leads to the decrease of the required pressure drop. The calculations for two-component model provide higher values of the local and average heat transfer coefficients in comparison with the one-component model. The difference does not exceed 10% and decreases with increasing the thermal Peclet number. The calculations for one-component model show the independence of local and average Nusselt numbers on the nanoparticle volume fraction. The results for two-component model predict the increase of Nusselt number when the thermophoretic effect becomes stronger. The effectiveness of water-alumina nanofluid is analyzed by plotting the average heat transfer coefficient against the required pumping power. It is shown that the nanofluid shows better performance than the base fluid in the range of low pumping power and, correspondingly, low inlet velocity. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Double approximation model of a shell finite deformation
/ L. I. Shkutin, N. A. Feodorova // Modelling, simulation & control. B. - 1995. - Vol. 58, Is. 3-4. - P11-20 . - ISSN 0761-2516
Аннотация: The double approximation of a displacement field in relation to the transversal coordinate is applied in constructing the two-dimensional model of a shell finite deformation. One of them, linear, is used in calculating the tangential derivatives of displacement field, the other, quadratic, is for the transversal derivative. In result, the displacement field gradient is approximated by the linear function of the transversal coordinate and the Green-Lagrange strain tensor is done by the quadratic one. The two-dimensional model of a shell finite deformation, accordant with the double approximation, contains three unknown vectors as internal kinematical variables of a shell base surface. Only two of them, coefficients of the linear approximation, are factors of the kinematical boundary conditions. They are primary vectorial parameters of the model and give six scalar degrees of shell freedom. The double approximation model of a shell finite deformation can be interpreted as the six-parametrical one with complete strain tensor. The model can be recommended for numerical analysis of shells, heterogeneous through thickness and laminated specifically.

Аннотация: The paper assesses coefficients and rates of ionization caused by an electron shock of atomic gas. It is meant that this gas is excited by resonance radiation and that ionization rate depends on the tune out of radiation frequency from the center of absorption line. It has been shown that in the central part of the line, where saturation is implemented, the coefficient depends only on characteristics of the resonance transition and ionization potential of the atom, and that the growth of electron concentration in time is exponential. When the far end of the line is tuned out, saturation disappears and dynamics of concentration growth becomes nonlinear.

Аннотация: Dirichlet's and Thompson's variational methods that are in wide use to estimate electric capacitance values are generalized for transfer process with nonsymmetrical coefficients. In restating the problem the operator of the boundary value problem of elliptic type is a symmetrical positive definite operator. A quadratic energy functional which attains minimum at the solution of the boundary value problem is formulated and proved. It is used to estimate the linear functional value. The multigrid method is used to obtain guaranteed precise estimates for a test problem.

Аннотация: The paper is devoted to the construction of the simplified mathematical model of thermomechanical behavior of a liquid crystal under the influence of weak mechanical and thermal perturbations. This model is based on the nonlinear equations of a micropolar viscoelastic medium with rotating particles. To describe small strains and finite rotations of molecules, the hypothesis of the dependence of potential energy on the volume change, on the angle of relative rotation and on the entropy is used in the framework of the method of internal thermodynamic parameters. The heat conduction process is described taking into account the anisotropy of a material due to the difference in coefficients of thermal conductivity along the axis of orientation of the particles and in the transverse direction. Separate equation for the tangential stress is obtained from the simplified model, which is useful for the analysis of the recently discussed issues of orientational thermoelasticity and resonant excitation of liquid crystals.

Аннотация: The work presents long-standing CZCS-satellite-based data about spatial distribution of anomalies in chlorophyll concentration and temperature of the ocean. An anomaly criterion is proposed. Maps of Atlantic ocean areas with elevated probability of anomalies are given. Properties of anomalous zones in different parts of the Atlantic ocean are discussed. Satellite-based maps of anomaly coefficients for chlorophyll concentration and temperature in the Atlantic ocean have been shown to feature substantial differences, the zones of elevated anomaly of chlorophyll concentration and temperature - to be close only in the vicinity of the Amazon outflow into the Atlantic ocean. Along with fundamental knowledge about dynamics of biological phenomena in the ocean the methods described may be used to reveal deviations due to anthropogenic impact. The methods presented may be used to process SeaWiFS prograna data. The data derived may be used to analyze long-standing time series to estimate randomness of cunent changes. В©2002 COSPAR. Аннотация: In the framework of mathematical model of a block medium with elastic blocks interacting through compliant viscoelastic interlayers and its approximation on the basis of equations of the Cosserat continuum, the problems of periodic perturbation of a layer and of a half-space under the action of distributed and localized surface loads are solved numerically. The simple formulas are suggested to determine the elasticity coefficients of the moment continuum by given characteristics of the materials of blocks and interlayers, which provide a good correspondence of the wave fields received by means of the exact and approximate models. Parallel computational algorithms, based on models of the inhomogeneous elasticity theory and the Cosserat elasticity theory, are applied to the analysis of propagation of elastic waves in geomaterials with layered and block microstructure. These algorithms are realized as parallel program systems for GPUs (using CUDA technology) and for multiprocessor computers of the cluster type (using MPI library). Monotone grid-characteristic schemes with a balanced number of time steps in elastic layers or blocks and in viscoelastic interlayers are used. By the analysis of numerical solutions it is shown that the multiblock medium has a resonant frequency of rotational motion of blocks, and this frequency does not depend on the size of a massif and on the boundary conditions at its surface.

Аннотация: The stationary heat transfer and Soret separation of a binary mixture between parallel plates with different constant temperatures is studied allowing for variable transport properties. The mixture is described by non-linear one-dimensional equations of heat and mass transfer, where the density, thermal conductivity, and Soret coefficient depend on temperature and concentration. A general procedure for integrating these equations is proposed. The problem is reduced to the ordinary differential equation of first order, which describes the trajectory of the system in the concentrationerature plane, and implicit dependence of temperature on space coordinate. It is shown that the solution for concentration is unique if the density and thermal conductivity do not depend on concentration. Analytical solutions of the problem are derived in a number of cases, while the most general case is treated numerically. The non-linear temperature and concentration profiles in different binary mixtures (aqueous solutions, colloidal suspensions, polymer blend) are constructed and analyzed. A procedure for extracting the dependence of Soret coefficient on temperature and concentration from the experimentally measured thermal and compositional profiles is suggested. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.All rights reserved.

Investigation of Fickian diffusion in the ternary mixtures of water-ethanol-triethylene glycol and its binary pairs

Аннотация: We present a comprehensive experimental study of isothermal Fickian diffusion in the ternary and binary liquid mixtures of water, ethanol, and triethylene glycol over the entire ternary composition space. 21 ternary mixtures inside the composition triangle have been investigated by means of the Taylor dispersion technique and 30 binary mixtures by Taylor dispersion and/or optical beam deflection in a Soret cell. The scalar binary diffusion coefficient has been determined along all three binary boundaries of the composition space and compared with estimations based on the Stokes-Einstein relation using stick or slip boundary conditions. The four elements of the ternary diffusion matrix and the diffusion eigenvalues were determined over a large portion of the composition triangle. The pseudo-binary diffusion coefficients obtained in Taylor dispersion experiments with either one of the two independent concentrations kept constant are comparable to the two diffusion eigenvalues. One of the two off-diagonal elements of the diffusion matrix is of the same order as the diagonal ones and, hence, not negligible, whereas the other one is approximately one order of magnitude smaller. Where available, our results compare well with literature data. The investigated compositions also comprise the five compositions that are scheduled for microgravity experiments in the ESA DCMIX3 project. This journal is © the Owner Societies 2015.
