Аннотация: This paper offers a mathematical model to obtain a numerical calculation and optimization of the thermal regimes of satellite radio electronic apparatus in vacuum condition. This model consists of two levels. The first one is finding the temperature distribution of the non-tightness satellite surface. The second one is the simulation of the simulation of the single radio technical device temperature regime.

A version of the entropy maximum principle is used to derive the Grad-like description in terms of a finite number of scattering rates. The equations are compared to the Grad moment system in the heat nonconductive case. Estimations for hard spheres demonstrate, in particular, some 10% excess of the viscosity coefficient resulting from the scattering rate description, as compared to the Grad moment estimation.

Аннотация: Using idealized models of the magnetosheath and magnetosphere magnetic fields, plasma densities, and plasma flow, we test for the steady state viability of processes mediating the interaction between the solar wind and the Jovian magnetosphere. The magnetopause is modeled as an asymmetric paraboloid with variable asymmetry. The subsolar standoff of the magnetopause has been shown to exhibit a bimodal probability distribution (Joy et al., 2002). Only the expanded magnetopause is considered, with a standoff of similar to 90 R-J. We test where on the magnetopause surface large-scale reconnection may be affected by either a shear flow or diamagnetic drift due to a pressure gradient across the magnetopause boundary. We also test for the onset of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. We find that reconnection is inhibited on the dawn flank due to the large shear flows in this region, regardless of magnetopause shape or interplanetary magnetic field orientation. The presence of a high energy plasma population in the magnetosphere may inhibit reconnection over much of the magnetopause area, except when the fields are antiparallel. Additionally, most of the dawn flank of the magnetopause is Kelvin-Helmholtz unstable, regardless of magnetopause asymmetry; and the dusk flank tailward of the planet is Kelvin-Helmholtz unstable when the magnetopause is highly oblate.

The effect of spectral shift of the absorption (emission) profile relative to the stationary one due to expansion of the medium is taken into account for the case when differential motion is described by velocity that varies linearly with the radius. The behaviour of the escape factor for the sphere is compared with the Sobolev theory. The numerical date for time dependence of intensity of afterglow and contour of the spectral line of leaving outside resonance radiation and spatial distribution of the excited atomic concentration are submitted as well.

Аннотация: This study presents a theoretical approach to analyze the influence of kappa distributed streaming ions and magnetized electrons on the plasma wave propagation in the presence of dust by employing two-potential theory. In particular, analytical expressions under certain conditions are derived for various modes of propagation comprising of kinetic Alfven wave streaming instability, two stream instability, and dust acoustic and whistler waves. A dispersion relation for kinetic Alfven-like streaming instability has been derived. The effects of dust particles and Lorentzian index on the growth rates and the threshold streaming velocity for the excitation of the instability are examined. The streaming velocity is observed to be destabilizing for slow motion and stabilizing for fast streaming motions. It is also observed that the presence of magnetic field and superthermal particles hinders the growth rate of instability. Аннотация: In meromictic lakes such as Lake Shira, horizontal inhomogeneity is small in comparison with vertical gradients. To determine the vertical distribution of temperature, salinity, and density of water in a deep zone of a Lake Shira, or other saline lakes, a one-dimensional (in vertical direction) mathematical model is presented. A special feature of this model is that it takes into account the process of ice formation. The model of ice formation is based on the one-phase Stefan problem with the linear temperature distribution in the solid phase. A convective mixed layer is formed under an ice cover due to salt extraction in the ice formation process. To obtain analytical solutions for the vertical distribution of temperature, salinity, and density of water, we use a scheme of vertical structure in the form of several layers. In spring, the ice melts as top and bottom. These processes are taken into account in the model. The calculated profiles of salinity and temperature of Shira Lake are in good agreement with field measurement data for each season. Additionally, we focussed on the redox zone, which is the zone in which the aerobic layers of a water column meet the anaerobic ones. Hyperactivity of plankton communities is observed in this zone in lakes with hydrogen sulphide monimolimnion, and Lake Shira is among them. The location of the redox zone in the lake, which is estimated from field measurements, coincides with a sharp increase in density (the pycnocline) during autumn and winter. During spring and summer, the redox zone is deeper than the pycnocline. The location of pycnocline calculated with the hydro physical model is in good agreement with field measurement data.

Hyperactivity of plankton communities is observed in this zone in lakes with hydrogen sulphide monimolimnion, and Lake Shira is among them. The location of the redox zone in the lake, which is estimated from field measurements, coincides with a sharp increase in density (the pycnocline) during autumn and winter. During spring and summer, the redox zone is deeper than the pycnocline. The location of pycnocline calculated with the hydro physical model is in good agreement with field measurement data.

Аннотация: It is well known that lithospheric electromagnetic emissions are generated before earthquakes occurrence. In our study, we consider the physical penetration mechanism of the electric field from the Earth's surface, through the atmosphere-ionosphere layers, and until its detection in space by satellites. A simplified approach is investigated using the electric conductivity equation, i.e., del((sigma) over cap.del Phi) = 0 in the case of a vertical inclination of the geomagnetic field lines. Particular interest is given to the conductivity profile near the ground and the electric field distribution at the Earth's surface. Our results are discussed and compared to the models of Pulinets et al. (2003) and Denisenko et al. (2008). It is shown that the near ground atmospheric layer with low conductivity decreases the electric field penetration into the ionosphere. The model calculations have demonstrated that the electric field of lithospheric origin is too weak to be observed at satellite altitudes.

Аннотация: A new kind of magnetohydrodynamic waves is analyzed for a current sheet in the presence of a small normal magnetic field component (B-z) varying along the sheet. For the initial undisturbed state, a simplified model of the current sheet is considered with a Harris-like current density distribution across the sheet. Within the framework of this model, an analytical solution is obtained for the flapping-type wave oscillations and instability, related to the gradient of the normal magnetic field component along the current sheet. The flapping wave frequency is found to be a function of the wave number, which has an asymptotic saturation for large wave numbers. This frequency is pure real in a stable situation for the magnetotail current sheet, when the Bz component increases toward Earth. The current sheet becomes unstable in some regions, where the Bz component decreases locally toward Earth. In the stable region, the "kink''-like wave oscillations are calculated for an initial Gaussian perturbation localized to the center of the current sheet. The flapping wave propagations are analyzed for two cases: (1) the initial perturbation is fixed, and (2) the source is moving toward Earth. In the last case, the Mach cone is obtained for the propagating flapping waves. The source for the flapping waves is associated with the fast plasma flow originated from the reconnection region.

Аннотация: The effect of viscous friction at the boundary between the plasma sheet and the solar wind on electric field generation in the plasma sheet is estimated. The boundary layer is modeled by a viscous layer with two mixing plasma flows. The distribution of the flow velocity in the inner parts of the plasma sheet outside the boundary layer is specified on the basis of experimental data. The calculated distribution of the electric potential in the plasma sheet and at the magnetopause is projected along magnetic lines onto the ionosphere. It has been indicated that, within the scope of the adopted model, viscous friction on the magnetotail flanks for an effective Reynolds number of Re = 3 x 10(3) results in an increase in the potential across the polar cap from 11 to 18 kV. In this case the maximum and minimum of the electric potential at the polar cap boundary are shifted from the nightside to the dayside. It is emphasized that the total distribution of the electric potential in the polar cap under quiet conditions results from the operation of several mechanisms of electric field generation.

Hydrodynamics beyond Navier-Stokes: The slip flow model

Аннотация: Recently, analytical solutions for the nonlinear Couette flow demonstrated the relevance of the lattice Boltzmann (LB) models to hydrodynamics beyond the continuum limit [S. Ansumali et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 124502 (2007)]. In this paper, we present a systematic study of the simplest LB kinetic equation—the nine-bit model in two dimensions—in order to quantify it as a slip flow approximation. Details of the aforementioned analytical solution are presented, and results are extended to include a general shear- and force-driven unidirectional flow in confined geometry. Exact solutions for the velocity, as well as for pertinent higher-order moments of the distribution functions, are obtained in both Couette and Poiseuille steady-state flows for all values of rarefaction parameter (Knudsen number). Results are compared with the slip flow solution by Cercignani, and a good quantitative agreement is found for both flow situations. Thus, the standard nine-bit LB model is characterized as a valid and self-consistent slip flow model for simulations beyond the Navier-Stokes approximation.

On Dust Kinetic Alfven Waves and Streaming Instability in a Lorentzian Magnetoplasma

Аннотация: Dust kinetic Alfven waves (DKAW) instability with Kappa-distributed ions streaming effects have been examined rigorously in a uniform dusty magnetoplasma. A dispersion relation of low-frequency DKAW instability on the dust acoustic velocity branch is obtained in a low-beta Lorentzian plasma. It is found that nonthermality is more effective for dust kinetic Alfven waves in the perpendicular component having finite larmor radius effects. Lorentzian type charging currents are obtained with the aid of Vlasov theory. Effect of different dust parameters on the growth rates of instability are considered. Damping/instability due to dust charge fluctuation is found to be insensitive to the form of the distribution function for DKAW. Possible applications to dusty space plasmas are pointed out.
