Аннотация: The principal scheme of a T-layer MHD control in a hypersonic ramjet engine with the aim to improve its thrust characteristics is presented. A periodical regime and T-layer initiation problems are solved numerically using the one- and two-dimensional gas dynamical models.

Аннотация: Numerical schemes for solving two-dimensional dynamic problems of elasticity theory based upon several local approximations for each of the required functions are discussed. The schemes contain free parameters (dissipation constants). An explicit form of artificial dissipation of the solutions allows us to control its size and to effectively construct both explicit and implicit schemes. The principle of producing such schemes is applied to a plane dynamic problem of elasticity theory as an example. We describe a class of problems for which numerical algorithms using several local approximations for each of the required functions are constructed. Examples of solving practical problems are given. Аннотация: We consider the Galerkin piecewise linear finite element method for an ordinary convection-diffusion boundary value problem with a small parameter in front of the highest derivative. For the generation of a discrete linear algebraic system we use the special quadrature formulae that take into account the boundary layer character of the solution. It is proved that the resulting discrete problem is of epsilon(2) + h(2)-order of accuracy in the uniform discrete norm for small h and epsilon. The numerical example shows the advantage of the considered discrete scheme over two commonly used difference schemes.

Аннотация: In meromictic lakes such as Lake Shira, horizontal inhomogeneity is small in comparison with vertical gradients. To determine the vertical distribution of temperature, salinity, and density of water in a deep zone of a Lake Shira, or other saline lakes, a one-dimensional (in vertical direction) mathematical model is presented. A special feature of this model is that it takes into account the process of ice formation. The model of ice formation is based on the one-phase Stefan problem with the linear temperature distribution in the solid phase. A convective mixed layer is formed under an ice cover due to salt extraction in the ice formation process. To obtain analytical solutions for the vertical distribution of temperature, salinity, and density of water, we use a scheme of vertical structure in the form of several layers. In spring, the ice melts as top and bottom. These processes are taken into account in the model. The calculated profiles of salinity and temperature of Shira Lake are in good agreement with field measurement data for each season. Additionally, we focussed on the redox zone, which is the zone in which the aerobic layers of a water column meet the anaerobic ones. Hyperactivity of plankton communities is observed in this zone in lakes with hydrogen sulphide monimolimnion, and Lake Shira is among them. The location of the redox zone in the lake, which is estimated from field measurements, coincides with a sharp increase in density (the pycnocline) during autumn and winter. During spring and summer, the redox zone is deeper than the pycnocline. The location of pycnocline calculated with the hydro physical model is in good agreement with field measurement data.

Аннотация: A system of equations of geophysical hydrothermodynamics of the ocean in the Boussinesq, hydrostatic, and 'rigid lid' approximations is used for description of stratified flows in landlocked reservoirs. A numerical algorithm is considered for flows two-dimensional in the vertical plane. This algorithm is based on the method of splitting with respect to physical processes, the finite element method, and the upstream difference scheme. The numerical algorithm has been checked on test problems. The model was used for determination of wind circulation and vertical distributions of temperature and salinity in the Shira Lake. The results of numerical modelling are in good agreement with actual data.

    High-Performance Computations in Numerical Modeling of Wave Propagation in Block Media with Thin Interlayers

Аннотация: Parallel computational algorithms for the numerical modeling of dynamic interactions of elastic blocks through thin elastic and viscoelastic interlayers in structurally inhomogeneous medium such as rock are developed. Monotonous grid-characteristic ENO-scheme with the balanced number of time steps in blocks and interlayers is used for the numerical solution. The algorithms are implemented in 1d and 2d cases with the CUDA technology (Compute Unified Device Architecture) for supercomputers with graphics processing units. The results of numerical analysis demonstrate peculiar quality of planar wave propagation in materials with layered microstructure.

Аннотация: The differential equations describing convection in binary mixture with Soret and Dufour effects are considered. The symmetry classification of these equations with respect to the constant parameters is made. It is shown that a generator producing equivalence transformations of constants is defined accurately up to a factor arbitrarily depending on these constants. The equivalence group admitted by the governing equations is calculated. Using this group, a transformation connecting the systems with and without Soret and Dufour terms is derived. In pure Soret case, it reduces to a linear change of temperature and concentration. The presence of Dufour effect requires an additional change of thermal diffusivity and diffusion coefficient. A scheme for reducing an initial and boundary value problem for Soret–Dufour equations to a problem for the system without these effects is proposed.

    Lattice Boltzmann simulation of catalytic reactions

Аннотация: A lattice Boltzmann model is developed to simulate finite-rate catalytic surface chemistry. Diffusive wall boundary conditions are established to account for catalytic reactions in multicomponent mixtures. Implementation of wall boundary conditions with chemical reactions is based on a general second-order accurate interpolation scheme. Results of lattice Boltzmann simulations for a four-component mixture with a global catalytic methane oxidation reaction in a straight channel are in excellent agreement with a finite volume Navier-Stokes solver in terms of both the flow field and species concentrations.

Аннотация: Using a two-dimensional, incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model, we study unsteady reconnection of antiparallel magnetic fields in the symmetric case. The magnetic reconnection process is initiated by variation of a local resistivity assumed to be a given function of time and spatial coordinates. The diffusion region of reconnection is treated as a thin boundary layer where the perpendicular components of magnetic field and velocity are much smaller than the components of these quantities along the layer. The unsteady MHD equations are solved by a two-step finite difference numerical scheme with an implicit approximation of the magnetic diffusion terms in a uniform right angle grid. In the numerical study, we use the initial conditions related to a uniform current layer without any motion of the plasma. The time-dependent reconnection process is characterized by the following important parameters: A timescale of the local resistivity, a length scale of the local resistivity, a local Reynolds number determined for the maximum resistivity and the length scale of the diffusion region. The numerical results show that the Petschek type reconnection is realized for the sufficiently small length scale and large time scale of the local resistivity, and a moderate local Reynolds number. Using unsteady numerical MHD solution obtained for the diffusion region, we determine the reconnection rate as a function of time by matching of the outer Petschek solution and the internal diffusion region solution. Аннотация: A linear MHD instability of the electric current sheet, characterized by a small normal magnetic field component, varying along the sheet, is investigated. The tangential magnetic field component is modeled by a hyperbolic function, describing Harris-like variations of the field across the sheet. For this problem, which is formulated in a 3D domain, the conventional compressible ideal MHD equations are applied. By assuming Fourier harmonics along the electric current, the linearized 3D equations are reduced to 2D ones. A finite difference numerical scheme is applied to examine the time evolution of small initial perturbations of the plasma parameters. This work is an extended numerical study of the so called "double gradient instability", - a possible candidate for the explanation of flapping oscillations in the magnetotail current sheet, which has been analyzed previously in the framework of a simplified analytical approach for an incompressible plasma. The dispersion curve is obtained for the kink-like mode of the instability. It is shown that this curve demonstrates a quantitative agreement with the previous analytical result. The development of the instability is investigated also for various enhanced values of the normal magnetic field component. It is found that the characteristic values of the growth rate of the instability shows a linear dependence on the square root of the parameter, which scales uniformly the normal component of the magnetic field in the current sheet. Аннотация: Two schemes of iterative solution of optimal control problems with fast and slow motions are considered here. The second scheme is applied to convex problems and is conceptionally close to methods of minimization with errors under computation. Аннотация: Blades of a three-blade boat screw propeller 40 mm in diameter chill cast from the AL2 alloy (11.2% Si; 0.4% Fe; 0.01% Mg; 0.02% Cu; Zn - traces) were studied. A method of correcting ultimate rupture strength ?v during tensile tests was suggested. Making allowances for ?v calculation results using the method described, the optimal conditions of thermocyclic treatment (TCT) of the AL2 alloy were chosen. TCT of the blades was carried out by the scheme 500-20В°C or 550-20В°C with the number of cycles n=3,5,7 allowance to stand for 10 min at the highest and lowest temperatures and cooling from the highest temperature in the final cycle either in the air or in water. The highest ?v values are attained after TCT by the scheme 500-20В°C (N=3) with subsequent cooling in water.

Аннотация: In the present work, interest is centered on the theory of fracture and practical approaches to reliability estimation of unidirectional composite materials which are based on it. Fracture mechanics is considered not as a theory of macrocracks but as mechanics of fracture mechanisms of the composites with allowance made for probability estimation. A model of composite material with fibers eliminated from the carrying scheme and parameters specific to the stress-strain-damage state (SSDS) was considered. According to the model, during loading, self-accelerated energy rise is accounted for by structural damages growth - the catastrophe takes place. The model allows us to calculate the critical stress. The composites redistribute forces from overloading zones to neighboring ones by microstructural deformations and damages. It is the effect of reservation of carrying ability. Due to this effect, low-value probability of fracture is sufficiently less for the composite than for homogeneous materials. The approach allows us to evaluate the reliability function for Both static loading and fatigue.
