Аннотация: We investigated time-dependent trends of artificial radionuclides in aquatic moss, zoobenthos (amphipods and caddisfly larvae), and three abundant wild fish species (Northern pike, Arctic grayling, and Siberian dace) inhabiting the Yenisei River in the vicinity of the radioactive discharge site in 2007–2015, in a period before and after the shutdown of the last nuclear reactor plant at the Mining-and-Chemical Combine (MCC), which occurred in 2010. From our research, we learned that concentrations of short-lived radionuclides, whose discharges to the Yenisei either stopped or declined after the shutdown of the reactor plant at the MCC (24Na, 46Sc,51Cr, 54Mn, 58Co, 59Fe, 60Co, 65Zn, 103Ru, 141,144Ce, 152,154Eu, 239Np), decreased in biota samples as well. The ecological half-life (EHL) of 65Zn (0.4–0.7 y) was similar to the physical half-life of this isotope, the EHLs of 60Co (1.2–2.1 y) and 152Eu (1.8 y) were shorter than the physical half-lives of these isotopes. Concentration of 137Cs did not decrease significantly in biota of the Yenisei after the shutdown of the last reactor plant because the discharges of this radionuclide to the Yenisei continued at the same level. On a longer-term scale (since 1973 and since 1991), concentration of 137Cs in fish muscle had significantly decreased, following the decrease in annual discharges of this radionuclide to the Yenisei, and the EHL of 137Cs was estimated as 6.5–12.8 y. Statistically significant correlation with annual discharges of 137Cs was revealed for the concentration of this radionuclide in grayling (whole bodies and muscle); dace (muscle), and amphipods. Despite their ability to accumulate high concentrations of 137Cs, aquatic moss and caddisfly larvae (analyzed together with their stony casings) were not sensitive to interannual fluctuations in the releases of this radionuclide to the Yenisei. Among the analyzed fish species of the Yenisei, the highest activity concentration of 137Cs was revealed in pike (body and muscle), indicating biomagnification of this radionuclide in the top level of the trophic chain. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

The use of the data derived from the PlanetScope satellite and unmanned aerial vehicles to estimate crop yield as dependent on the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied / N. O. Malchikov, T. I. Pisman, I. Y. Botvich [et al.] // IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science : IOP Publishing Ltd, 2021. - Vol. 839: 5th International Scientific Conference on Agribusiness, Environmental Engineering and Biotechnologies, AGRITECH-V 2021 (16 June 2021 through 19 June 2021, ) Conference code: 172484, Is. 2. - Ст. 022004, DOI 10.1088/1755-1315/839/2/022004
Аннотация: The purpose of the present study is to show the usefulness of the satellite data and the data derived from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for estimating the relationship between cereal grain crop yield and the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied. The study was conducted on the land of the Kuraginskoye Research Farm. The study material was spring barley cv. Biom. Three test plots were studied; mineral fertilizer, urea, was used in different quantities for foliar application in June; applications were performed at equal intervals. Multispectral images were based on PlanetScope satellite data, with the 3 m spatial resolution, and the data derived from the DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral UAV, with the 10 cm resolution. The satellite and UAV data were used to calculate spectral vegetation index (NDVI) (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index). A high correlation was obtained between the NDVI values calculated using satellite data and UAV data. The satellite data provided the basis for assessing barley crop yield as dependent on the amount of foliar-applied urea during the growing season. Maps of the spatial distribution of barley NDVI were constructed using the Phantom UAV data; they showed that the third foliar application of the fertilizer was not economically justified. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: Vegetation indices derived from remote sensing measurements are commonly used to describe and monitor vegetation. However, the same plant community can have a different NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) depending on weather conditions, and this complicates classification of plant communities. The present study develops methods of classifying the types of plant communities based on long-term NDVI data (MODIS/Aqua). The number of variables is reduced by introducing two integrated parameters of the NDVI seasonal series, facilitating classification of the meadow, steppe, and forest plant communities in Siberia using linear discriminant analysis. The quality of classification conducted by using the markers characterizing NDVI dynamics during 2003-2017 varies between 94% (forest and steppe) and 68% (meadow and forest). In addition to determining phenological markers, canonical correlations have been calculated between the time series of the proposed markers and the time series of monthly average air temperatures. Based on this, each pixel with a definite plant composition can be characterized by only four values of canonical correlation coefficients over the entire period analyzed. By using canonical correlations between NDVI and weather parameters and employing linear discriminant analysis, one can obtain a highly accurate classification of the study plant communities. © 2019 by the authors.

Аннотация: This paper is devoted to the comparative stude of redundancy of genetic texts of various organisms and viruses. To determine the tedundance of a gene, we have introduced the strict measure for that latter. The measure for a text's redundance is the length of restriction of Frequence/Correlation Dictionary of a given genetic text. Frequence/Correlation Dictionary is the ser of all subsequences belang to a given genetic text, accompanied by the frequencies of their occurrence. The restriction length is defined as that one, for which all the subsequences (of that length) are unique. We have found, that genes of human viruses are less redundant, in comparison to those of human genes. Other aspects of a comparative redundance invastigations of the genes are discussed. The problem of the determination of truet intron could be treated by this methodology, as well, as the evolution of genome.

Аннотация: We studied soil-like substrate (SLS) as a potential candidate for plant cultivation in bioregenerative life support systems (BLSS). The SLS was obtained by successive conversion of wheat straw by oyster mushrooms and worms. Mature SLS contained 9.5% humic acids and 4.9% fulvic acids. First, it was shown that wheat, bean and cucumber yields as well as radish yields when cultivated on mature SLS were comparable to yields obtained on a neutral substrate (expanded clay aggregate) under hydroponics. Second, the possibility of increasing wheat and radish yields on the SLS was assessed at three levels of light intensity: 690, 920 and 1150 ?mol m-2 s-1 of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). The highest wheat yield was obtained at 920 ?mol m-2 s-1, while radish yield increased steadily with increasing light intensity. Third, long-term SLS fertility was tested in a BLSS model with mineral and organic matter recycling. Eight cycles of wheat and 13 cycles of radish cultivation were carried out on the SLS in the experimental system. Correlation coefficients between SLS nitrogen content and total wheat biomass and grain yield were 0.92 and 0.97, respectively, and correlation coefficients between nitrogen content and total radish biomass and edible root yield were 0.88 and 0.87, respectively. Changes in hormone content (auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins and abscisic acid) in the SLS during matter recycling did not reduce plant productivity. Quantitative and species compositions of the SLS and irrigation water microflora were also investigated. Microbial community analysis of the SLS showed bacteria from Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Proteus, Nocardia, Mycobacterium, Arthrobacter and Enterobacter genera, and fungi from Trichoderma, Penicillium, Fusarium, Aspergillus, Mucor, Botrytis, and Cladosporium genera. Аннотация: Spectral brightness coefficients are correlated with indices of vertical attenuation of horizontal irradiance, water transparency, phytoplankton chlorophyll content, and phytoplankton distribution. Data were obtained from Krasnoyarsk Reservoir and the Dnieper reservoirs. When diatoms and pyrrhophytes predominate, the maximum spectral brightness is in the vicinity of 580 nm, but when blue-green algae predominate the maxima are in the vicinity of 550 and 720 nm. -from Authors

Аннотация: Novel dual-analyte single-well bioluminescence immunoassay (BLIA) for total and IgG-bound prolactins was developed on the base of Ca2+-regulated photoprotein obelin mutants with altered color and kinetics of bioluminescence signal as reporters. The mutants W92F-H22E and Y138F were chemically conjugated with monoclonal mouse anti-hPRL and anti-hIgG immunoglobulins and thus displayed signals from total prolactin and IgG-bounded prolactin (macroprolactin) correspondingly. Bioluminescence of the reporters was simultaneously triggered by a single injection of Ca2+ solution and discriminated via bioluminescent signal spectral and time resolution. The developed microplate-based immunoassay allows detection of two prolactin forms in crude serum without additional manipulations (e.g., gel chromatography or PEG-precipitation). Total prolactin bioluminescence immunoassay in standard, control, and clinical sera offers high sensitivity and reproducibility. The BLIA results show good correlation with those obtained by RIA and immunoassay after gel chromatography.

Heavy metals -- Periphyton -- Seasonal dynamics -- algae -- Chlorophyta -- Cyanobacteria -- Ulothrix zonata
Аннотация: The concentrations of metals K, Na, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb, Co and Cr, in the water and periphyton (epilithic algal communities) were studied at a site in the middle stream of the Yenisei River (Siberia, Russia) during three years using monthly sampling frequencies. Despite considerable seasonal variations in aquatic concentrations of some metals, there was no correlation between metal contents in the water and in periphyton. Seasonal concentration variations of some metals in periphyton were related to the species (taxonomic) composition of periphytic microalgae and cyanobacteria. Enhanced levels of Ni and Co in periphyton in late autumn, winter, and early spring were likely caused by the predominance of cyanobacteria in the periphytic community, and annual maximum levels of K in periphyton in late spring and early summer were attributed to the domination of Chlorophyta, primarily Ulothrix zonata. Bottom sediments -- sedimentation traps -- salt lakes -- micro-XRF -- synchrotron radiation -- regression analysis
Аннотация: The relevance of the work is caused by the need to study seasonal variations in the volume and composition of sedimentation flows in modern lakes and their relationship with weather and climatic factors, which can serve as a basis for reconstructing climatic changes in the past. The main aim: to assess seasonal changes in the mass, velocity and chemical composition of sedimentary material entering Lake Shira on the basis of generalization and analysis of the results of multiyear annual monitoring of the material of sedimentation traps incubated in the lake. Object of the study was the drainless, slightly saline meromictic lake Shira, located in the steppe intermontane depression on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia. Methods: long-term seasonal monitoring of sedimentary material forming bottom sediments using sedimentation traps incubated in the lake; study of the obtained material for a wide range of parameters (biological, hydrochemical, lithological-geochemical, granulometric, etc.) by various conventional methods, including the method of X-ray fluorescence microanalysis on synchrotron radiation beams (XRF-SI), adapted for the study of bottom samples; computer statistical analysis of the data obtained (multiple regression method, cross-correlation analysis, etc.) in order to identify the relationship between regional temperatures and the chemical composition of the deposited material with the construction of a regression model. Results. Based on the study of the amount and elemental composition of the sedimentary material of the seasonal bottom traps of Lake Shira, collected for 2012-2017, a dynamic model of the seasonal influx of sedimentary flows in lakes of this landscape-geochemical type was formulated. It has been established that the most intensive sedimentation of the material occurs in the summer-autumn period, less - in the winter-spring period. At the same time, in spring, the accumulation of allochthonous (terrigenous) aleurite material, supplied with flood waters, predominates; in the summer-autumn period, simultaneously with the deposition of clastogenic pelitic material, biogenic and chemogenic materials are accumulated in sediments in large quantities. In winter, clastogenic and biogenic processes of sedimentation practically stop, only chemogenic sedimentation of carbonates is observed. It was established that the sedimentation of allochthonous material entering the reservoir occurs during two-three months, which indicates a certain inertness of sedimentation. The presence of a stable relationship between the mass and chemical composition of terrigenous material entering the lake with the regional temperature of the near-surface air, which is one of the main regulators of the water balance of the reservoir, is shown.

Аннотация: This article presents investigation data on the seasonal dynamics of productivity, status, and species composition of vegetation on fallow lands in the Krasnoyarsk forest steppe (Middle Siberia) obtained from terrain and satellite materials from 2017. The results of the study of grass plant communities on the basis of geobotanical descriptions and terrain spectrometry were have been used for a more accurate interpretation of cosmic photographs of moderate and low resolution. For studying vegetation on fallow lands, we analyze the seasonal dynamics of various vegetative indices (NDVI, EVI, LSWI, and LAI) and parameters (NPP, FPAR, and LST (land surface temperature)) obtained from MODIS satellite images. Our analysis of satellite data shows the absence of evidences of plowing and mowing in the studied area. A positive correlation is revealed between vegetation indices of biomass (NDVI, EVI, LAI, and NPP) and parameters of hydrothermal conditions (LSWI, FPAR, and LST).

Аннотация: Seasonal dynamics of Anabaena flos-aquae (Lyngb.) Breb., including vegetative cells, akinetes and akinete envelopes, in bottom sediments and water column at both littoral and deeper central stations of a small Siberian reservoir was studied. Two types of akinetes were observed: in the first half of summer Anabaena formed akinetes, which served for vegetative reproduction and germinated in water column soon after differentiation, while in the second half of summer the akinetes produced served as a resting stages, which were deposited to bottom sediments. Canonical correlation analyses revealed that decrease of water temperature was the main environmental factor that stimulated the akinete formation. In contrast to the general opinion, concentration of inorganic phosphorus slightly, but positively influenced the akinete formation. Thus, akinetes formed in response to the temperature decrease, needs a certain level of this nutrient. At littoral and open-water stations abundance and seasonal dynamics of akinetes in water column and their sinking pattern were very similar. However, seasonal dynamics of abundance of akinetes in sediments in these two reservoir locations differed: whereas the abundance of akinetes in open water increased permanently during the summer, that in the littoral decreased soon after their sedimentation. The cause for decrease in abundance of akinetes in bottom sediments in winter is unknown. В© Springer 2006.

Fatty acids -- Riverine microalgae -- Taxa composition -- Temperature adaptations -- algae -- Bacillariophyta -- Chlorophyta -- Cyanobacteria
Аннотация: We studied fatty acid (FA) composition of littoral microalgae in the fast-flowing oligotrophic river, the Yenisei, Siberia, monthly for 3 years. Seasonal dynamics of species composition had similar patterns in all the studied years. In springs, a pronounced dominance of filamentous green algae occurred, in summer and autumn diatoms were abundant, and in late autumn and winter epilithic biofilms consisted primarily of cyanobacteria and detritus. In general, FA composition of the algal periphytic community was dominated by 16:0, 16:1?7, 20:5?3, 14:0, and 18:3?3 throughout the studied period. Several groups of FAs, which had peculiar seasonal dynamics, were differentiated by statistical analysis based on a method of correlation graphs. The seasonal changes in FA composition could be partly explained by the seasonal succession of species composition of the community. Besides, we found that populations of both diatom and green algae grown in summer at a higher water temperature were lower in polyunsaturated fatty acids than those in spring, at a lower temperature. Hence, we suppose that the regular seasonal dynamics of FA composition of the studied littoral microalgae was driven both by changes in species composition and by temperature adaptations of the algal populations. The highest content of essential polyunsaturated FAs, eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids, in the spring "psychrophilic" populations of diatoms could make them of the higher nutritive value for zoobenthic primary consumers. Аннотация: The paper presents the results of biomedical investigations of sutures made of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) of two types (poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) and poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-poly-3-hydroxyvalerate (PHB/PHV)), synthesized by the bacteria Ralstonia eutropha B 5786 in the experiment on test animals in vivo, in comparison with silk and catgut sutures. PHB and PHB/PHV (PHBV) implants produced no adverse effect on physiological, biochemical and functional parameters of the animals during the post-surgery period. The tested PHA sutures featured the necessary strength throughout the healing period of the muscle-fascial cuts. The reaction of tissues to the implantation of PHB and PHB/PHV fibers fitted into the usual scheme characteristic of the wound process and of the reaction to a foreign-body invasion. This reaction and the reaction of tissues to silk had the similar nature and period of inflammation, but it was much less pronounced than the reaction to catgut. The tissue response to the implantation of PHAs consisted in a short-duration (up to 2 weeks) post-traumatic inflammation and the formation of a fibrous capsule less than 200 ?m thick during weeks 4-8, which in 4-6 months was reduced to 40-60 ?m in the course of reverse development. There were no adverse changes, such as suppurative inflammation, necrosis, calcification, and malignization of the cicatrice, at the site of implantation of PHA filaments, unlike in the cases with silk and catgut. In the case of PHA implantation there was a typical prolonged (throughout the post-surgery monitoring period) pronounced macrophagal stage with a large number of macrophages present. The macrophages were of the phagocytic type and multinucleate giant foreign cells, with a high activity of acid phosphomonoesterase that correlated with the activity of the enzyme in blood. Throughout the period of monitoring no differences in the tissue response to the implantation of the polymer filaments of two PHA types were recorded. В© 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Аннотация: An optical remote assay for biological production of crops in the field during the vegetation period is proposed. Our calculations demonstrate a good correlation between the S(t) value and crop yield (in the range from 0.85 to 0.90); the higher is S(t) for the vegetation period, the higher is the crop yield. S(t) value can be used to calculate the increase in dry and wet biomass for various crops during the whole vegetation period with an error of less than 10-12%. The absolute error of crop yield for 110 cultivars of wheat, oats, and barley during the experimental period was +/-3-3.5 quintal/ha with the mean crop yield of 14-38 quintal/ha.

Аннотация: A new method is proposed for measuring and comparing the redundancy of genetic texts. It is based on compiling for a given text a frequency/correlation dictionary encompassing all the words (subsequences) of length from 1 to N encountered in the text (N is text length); the measure of redundancy is the minimal length at which all words are unique. Preliminary results are reported for different genetic texts.

Аннотация: The paper continues study of exposures of luminous marine bacteria to low-dose radiation of tritium; tritiated water (HTO) was applied as a source of the irradiation. Hypothesis on involvement of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) to signaling mechanism of bacterial cells under exposure to low-intensity tritium radiation was verified. Bacterial bioluminescence intensity was considered as a tested physiological parameter; it was compared to the ROS production in the bacterial environment of different activity concentrations: 0.03, 4.0, and 500 MBq/L. Exposure of the bacteria to chronic low-dose tritium irradiation (<0.08 Gy) increased bioluminescence intensity and ROS production considerably (up to 300%). Spearman rank correlation coefficients were calculated and confirmed relations between the bioluminescence intensity and ROS production. Additional peculiarities of HTO effect were: independence of the bioluminescence intensity and ROS content on HTO activity concentration; low ROS content in bacteria-free aquatic environment. Effects of HTO on bacterial bioluminescence were attributed to: (1) trigger function of tritium decay products in the bacterial metabolic oxygen-dependent processes, with bioluminescence involved; (2) signaling role of ROS as intercellular messengers in “bystander effect”; (3) fixed amount of bacterial cells (3•107 cells/mL) provided the upper limits of the bioluminescence intensity and ROS content. As an outlook, in spite of low energy of tritium decay, its influence on aquatic biota via ROS production by microorganisms should be taken into consideration. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
