Аннотация: The aim of the paper is to investigate accumulation of artificial radionuclides by the Yenisei river aquatic plants collected in the area affected by the activity of the Mining-and-Chemical Combine (Zheleznogorsk) from 1997 to 2000. The samples of aquatic plants were of four species: Potamogeton lucens, Fontinalis antipyretica, Elodea canadensis, and Ceratophyllum demersum. The gamma-spectrometric analysis of the samples of aquatic plants for artificial radionuclides revealed a wide spectrum of radionuclides. Radionuclides of activation origin were found in the aquatic plants taken both near the Combine and 200 km down of it. The radiochemical analysis of aquatic plants revealed strontium and plutonium isotopes. Among the aquatic plants, the highest concentration factors for the principal radionuclides were recorded in Fontinalis antipyretica (water moss).

americium -- fungus mycelium -- sorption
Аннотация: Experiments with macromycetes Pleurotus ostreatus, Neonothopanus nambi, and Agaricus bisporus demonstrated for the first time that live mycelium of mushrooms, cultivated on a liquid culture medium, can efficiently take up dissolved 241Am in its biomass. Biochemical fractionation of the mycelium biomass demonstrated for the first time that the major fraction (up to 90%) of 241Am accumulated in the mycelium is bonded to structural polysaccharides of the cell walls. The sorption capacity of cell wall polysaccharides for 241Am is 2.7-3.6 times higher than that of the initial mycelium biomass, and the activity concentration of 241Am in the polysaccharides reached 950 Bq g-1 dry weight. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The radionuclidic composition of several high-level hot particles (PIP) found during field work in the region of the Atamanovskii island of the Yenisei river just near the Krasnoyarsk Mining Chemical Plant (MCP) was determined. The activity ratios of Pu and Cs isotopes in these particles revealed their reactor origin. The age of HPs was estimated in terms of one possible pathway of their formation.

Model assessment of the migration capability of transuranium radionuclides (241Am and Pu isotopes) and 152Eu in the system bottom sediments-Yenisei river water by chemical fractionation technique / L. G. Bondareva [et al.] // Radiochemistry. - 2005. - Vol. 47, Is. 4. - P415-421, DOI 10.1007/s11137-005-0112-8 . - ISSN 1066-3622
Аннотация: Sorption of radiotracers 241Am and 242Pu and weighable amounts of uranium and stable Eu on bottom sediments in the simulated system bottom sediments-Yenisei river water was studied. At a contact time of 40 min these metals are completely sorbed on the bottom sediments, presumably via association with organomineral complexes and hydrated gels. Along with sorption, these metals can form soluble complexes and stable colloids (pseudocolloids). The distribution factors of 241Am and 242Pu, and stable Eu in the simulated system between bottom sediments and liquid phases were calculated from the results of sorption experiments. The introduced 241Am and 152Eu initially present in radioactively contaminated bottom sediments of the Yenisei river show similar pattern of distribution over differently mobile fractions. The distribution of weighable amounts of stable Eu significantly differs from that of initially present 152Eu and tracer 241Am due to decelerated sorption of stable Eu and its considerably higher concentration. A significant part of 242Pu, 241Am, and 152Eu is associated with mobile fractions of bottom sediments, which, under certain environmental conditions, can pass into river water as migrating species.     Radioactive contamination of populated areas of the Krasnoyarsk krai in the region of location of the Mining-Chemical Combine [Text] / A. Y. Bolsunovskii [et al.] // Radiochemistry. - 1999. - Vol. 41, Is. 6. - P604-609. - Cited References: 6 . - 6. - ISSN 1066-3622

Аннотация: Radionuclide content in soil samples collected from populated areas of the Krasnoyarsk krai in the region of location of the Mining-Chemical Combine (MCC), RF Ministry of Nuclear Power Engineering (Minatom), Zheleznogorsk, is determined. The samples were analyzed in the State Sanitary Epidemiological Inspection Center of the Krasnoyarsk krai (Krasnoyarsk, Russia) and analytical and Radiochemical Laboratory (Spiez, Switzerland). In the soil samples collected from the areas that are not subject to the impact of MCC (due to contaminated water discharge and airborne effluents) the maximal content of the most radiologically significant technogenic radionuclide Cs-137 was found to be 45 Bq/kg, which does not exceed the global level: In flood land it amounts to 631 Bq/kg, and the absolutely maximal content (6507 Bq/kg) was found in the samples collected at a depth of 50-80 cm from the Gorodskoi Isl. near the Yeniseisk town. The Pu-239,Pu-240 content in top horizons of soil outside the MCC impact zone ranges from 0.2 to 0.6 Bq/kg. In the flood areas of populated localities at the Yenisei River the Pu-239,Pu-240 content increases to 3.2 Bq/kg in top horizons and more significantly in deeper horizons. The maximal Pu-239,Pu-240 content (8-10 and 10.6-28.9 Bq/kg determined by the Russian and Swiss Researchers, respectively) is found in the samples collected from Yeniseisk at a depth of 50-80 cm. These results suggest that Pu is supplied from MCC to the flood areas of populated localities with the river water. An increased Pu-239,Pu-240 content was also found in soil samples collected from the free-fall areas of the Atamanovo and Bol'shoi Balchug settlements located near the MCC sanitary zone.

    Speciation of artificial radionuclides 60Co, 137Cs, 152Eu, and 241Am in bottom sediments of the Yenisei river / L. G. Bondareva, A. Ya. Bolsunovskii // Radiochemistry. - 2008. - Vol. 50, Is. 5. - P547-552, DOI 10.1134/S1066362208050196 . - ISSN 1066-3622
Аннотация: The speciation of artificial radionuclides 60Co, 137Cs, 152Eu, and 241Am in surface layers of bottom sediments of the Yenisei river, collected within the near zone of impact of the Mining and Chemical Combine (Rosatom), was studied. In these samples the radionuclides 60Co, 152Eu, and 241Am are mainly associated with fractions of humic and fulvic acids. The fraction of 152Eu associated with nonsilicate iron is approximately 92%. The migration capability of radionuclides collected near the Atamanovo settlement decreases in the order 152Eu > 241Am > 60Co > 137Cs. For samples collected near Bol'shoi Balchug settlement, this order is as follows: 152Eu ? 241Am > 60Co > 137Cs. The presence of radionuclide-bearing micro-particles in bottom sediments considerably complicates the distribution of radionuclides, in particular, of 241Am and 137Cs, among migration forms.
