Аннотация: During two vegetation seasons (2004-2005), we compared feeding spectra of Arctodiaptomus salinus (Calanoida, Copepoda) populations inhabiting two neighboring salt lakes, Shira and Shunet, Khakasia, Russia, using fatty acid (FA) trophic markers. Sestonic FA composition in two lakes moderately differed, whereas levels of diatom FA markers were higher in Lake Shunet and of Cyanobacteria and green algae markers in Lake Shira. In general, markers in storage lipids-triacylglycerols (TAG) of A. salinus-reflected the differences in sestonic composition of the two lakes. Nevertheless, TAG fraction was also enriched by FA trophic markers of the minor components of seston, which were selectively ingested by the animals. In Lake Shira, A. salinus had significantly higher concentrations of bacterial FA markers in TAG. In Lake Shunet, TAG of A. salinus contained significantly higher relative amounts of 18:4?3, 18:5?3 and C22 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), which indicated marked contribution of cryptophytes or (and) flagellates into the diet. Laboratory experiments showed feeding on Cryptomonas and sulfur purple bacteria in Lake Shunet and ciliates and colonial picoplankton in both lakes, and generally confirmed the differences in FA trophic markers in A. salinus between the lakes. The two populations of A. salinus markedly differed in levels of essential long-chain PUFA, eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids, although the levels of these FA in seston were quite similar between the two lakes. The higher levels of the essential ?3 PUFA in A. salinus in Lake Shunet may be an adaptive response of the animals to a vertical stratification of physico-chemical conditions and significantly higher salinity levels at the boundary of adjacent bottom layer in this lake. Аннотация: Biodegradation of microbial linear polymers of hydroxyalkanoic acids (polyhydroxyalkanoates, PHAs) by soil microbial communities of different structures has been studied during two field seasons in different weather conditions. This process was shown to be influenced by the polymer chemical composition, temperature, humidity, and the microbial soil component. The PHA degradation was accompanied by a decrease in the polymer molecular weight and an increase in the degree of crystallinity, indicating the preferential destruction of the amorphous phase compared to the crystalline one. The quantity of the true PHA destructors developing at the surface of the polymer samples was lower than the quantity of accompanying bacteria. The dominant PHA degrading microorganisms under the test conditions were identified as bacteria of the genera Variovorax, Stenotrophomonas, Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Bacillus, and Xanthomonas and as micromycetes from Penicillium, Paecilomyces, Acremonium, Verticillium, and Zygosporium.

Аннотация: Zooplankton carcasses are ubiquitous in marine and freshwater systems, implicating the importance of non-predatory mortality, but both are often overlooked in ecological studies compared with predatory mortality. The development of several microscopic methods allows the distinction between live and dead zooplankton in field samples, and the reported percentages of dead zooplankton average 11.6 (minimum) to 59.8 (maximum) in marine environments, and 7.4 (minimum) to 47.6 (maximum) in fresh and inland waters. Common causes of non-predatory mortality among zooplankton include senescence, temperature change, physical and chemical stresses, parasitism and food-related factors. Carcasses resulting from non-predatory mortality may undergo decomposition leading to an increase in microbial production and a shift in microbial composition in the water column. Alternatively, sinking carcasses may contribute significantly to vertical carbon flux especially outside the phytoplankton growth seasons, and become a food source for the benthos. Global climate change is already altering freshwater ecosystems on multiple levels, and likely will have significant positive or negative effects on zooplankton non-predatory mortality. Better spatial and temporal studies of zooplankton carcasses and non-predatory mortality rates will improve our understanding of this important but under-appreciated topic.

Аннотация: Resistance to Ampicillin and Kanamycin displayed by heterotrophic bacteria isolated in Summer and in Spring from the littoral and the central parts of Lake Shira (a therapeutic lake in the Khakasia Republic, Russia) has been investigated. It has been found that in Summer, human and animal microflora featuring multiple antibiotic resistance (to Ampicillin and Kanamycin) predominates in all the studied stations of the littoral zone of the lake. In Spring, concentrations of bacteria featuring multiple antibiotic resistance decrease significantly and bacteria sensitive to antibiotics predominate in the lake. Emergence of multiple antibiotic resistance in bacteria of Lake Shira is caused by the input of allochthonous bacteria into the lake; this feature of heterotrophic bacteria of Lake Shira can be used to monitor the impact on the ecosystem made by health resorts. Аннотация: Remote sensing applications have greatly enhanced ability to monitor and manage in the areas of forestry. Accurate measurements of regional and global scale vegetation dynamics (phenology) are required to improve models and understanding of inter-annual variability in terrestrial ecosystem carbon exchange and climate-biosphere interactions. Study of vegetation phenology is required for understanding of variability in ecosystem. In this paper, monitoring of vegetation dynamics using time series of satellite data is presented. Vegetation variability (vegetation rate) in different topoclimatic areas is investigated. Original software using IDL interactive language for processing of satellite long-term data series was developed. To investigate growth dynamics vegetation rate inferred from remote sensing was used. All estimations based on annual time series of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) imagery. Vegetation rate for Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was calculated using MODIS data. The time series covers spring seasons of each of 9 years, from 2000 to 2008. Comparison of EVI and NDVI derived growth rates has shown that NDVI derived rates reveal spatial structure better. Using long-term data of vegetation rates variance was estimated that helps to reveal areas with anomalous growth rate. Such estimation shows sensitivity degree of different areas to different topoclimatic conditions. Woods of heights depend on spatial topoclimatic variability unlike woods of lowlands. Principal components analysis shows vegetation with different rate conditions. Also it reveals vegetation of same type in areas with different conditions. It was demonstrated that using of methods for estimating the dynamic state of vegetation based on remote sensing data enables successful monitoring of vegetation phenology. В© 2011 COSPAR. Аннотация: During three field seasons (June-September) of 1997-99 contents of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Al, Cr, Ni, Cd, and Pb were determined in compartments of ecosystem (surrounding soils, bottom sediments, water, zoobenthos, macrophytes, and fish) of a fish and recreation pond situated at the edge of Krasnoyarsk City (Siberia, Russia). Contents of most parts of metals in soils, water, and macrophytes significantly correlated with each other. As concluded, their contents were determined by natural, general, geochemical peculiarities of the region. Heavy metals, contents of which were higher than federal upper limits of concentration, were revealed. In muscles of fish with different feeding spectra - crucian and perch - concentrations of some metals differed significantly; correlation graphs for metals also had different structures. Comparison of our data with those on diverse aquatic ecosystems of Siberia, Europe, North America, and China published in the last decade was carried out. It was concluded that a distribution of heavy metals in the compartments of an aquatic ecosystem presently have to be determined for each particular water body until general regularities are discovered.

Аннотация: To estimate the seasonal progress of the production process over the planet and its long-standing trend it is important to measure not only the spatial distributions of pigment that represent the rates of photosynthesis but also their time variability. Anthropogenic impact on natural complexes can be efficiently estimated by satellite observations of phytopigment dynamics. This study presents CZCS satellite data processed to reveal spatial inhomogeneity in the seasonal course of chlorophyll concentration in the world ocean on a global scale. Areas with quasistationary and non-stationary seasonal changes in chlorophyll concentration are revealed for the 7.5 years period of CZCS operation. Areas in the world ocean with maximum absolute and relative differences in chlorophyll concentration during different seasons were found. Results are illustrated with a chart of areas in the Atlantic Ocean discerned by dynamic parameters.

Аннотация: Depths of thermocline and the redox zone, concentrations of dissolved and suspended carbon, and nitrogen and phosphorus in seston were measured in the pelagial of the saline meromictic Lake Shira (southern Siberia) in different years (2007-2011); the relationship of the values for those parameters with air-temperature variations was assessed. Positive correlations between both air temperatures in the previous year and the depth of the redox zone in winter and air temperature in April and the thermocline depth in summer were revealed. In the mixolimnion, the ratio of total nitrogen to total phosphorus almost always exceeded the Redfield ratio (16: 1); seston deficiency both in nitrogen and phosphorus was monitored in different seasons and at various depths. The amount of seston in the mixolimnion in summer almost doubled the amount of seston in winter and was directly related with the depth of the thermocline. In the monimolimnion, seston was rich in nitrogen and phosphorus. The amount of seston in the monimolimnion varied in different years and depended both on the air temperature in the previous year and the size of the zone.

Аннотация: Many salt lakes are meromictic, in which the water column is not mixed to the bottom for at least one year. In the stratified lake, the upper (epilimnion) and deep (hypolimnion) layers are distinguished, in which the density gradients are small. Between them is a layer of water (metalimnion), within which the density gradient is great. In the near-bottom layer, hydrogen sulphide accumulates and there is no oxygen. One-dimensional mathematical models are used to determine the dynamics of the vertical thermohaline structure of the salt lake Uchum. Two periods in the annual regime are considered: the period of the absence of the ice cover (IC) and the period with the existence of the IC. The vertical distributions of temperature and water salinity in Lake Uchum have been calculated in different seasons. The results of the calculations are consistent with the data of field measurements.

Аннотация: We estimated the seston elemental composition (C, N, P) and its ratio in pelagic and littoral zones of mesotrophic shallow Lake Obsterno during two contrasting seasons, as well as the influence of macrophyte beds on the seston stoichiometry. In the both pelagial and littoral zones in summer the C : N ratio was small, 4.62 and 7.05 respectively. But it increased slightly during autumn to 5.66 in pelagic samples against 8.33 in littoral ones. The large N : P ratio and the small phosphorus content specially in the macrophyte covered littoral zone equal to 57.7 in July against 22.47 in September suggest a high level of phosphorus limitation in the littoral locations as a possible mediated reason suppressing zooplankton abundance in summer. Our results in the both pelagial and littoral habitat showed a highly P limited situation in which the N : P ratio was larger in littoral with macrophyte than in pelagial zones. The obtained data of littoral seston stoichiometry were recorded for the first time and exceeded the classical Redfield ratio. The elemental imbalance between macrophyte covered littoral and pelagial suggest that nutrients, especially P, are more limiting in macrophyte beds in summer due to the resource competition between phytoplankton and macrophytes for nutrients, a poor food quality, low zooplankton abundance, as well as its poor taxon-specific elemental ratio in summer.

Аннотация: The study deals with the vertical distribution and seasonal dynamics of planktonic ciliates in the pelagic and littoral zones of a saline meromictic Lake Shira. Fourteen species of free-living ciliates have been found in the Lake, seven of them inhabiting the pelagic zone. The richness of ciliates is higher both in terms of the number of species and biomass in the littoral zone compared to the pelagic zone. Although the ciliate species diversity is low in the pelagic zone, in certain seasons, the biomass of some of the species may reach considerable values, up to 3.4 g m?2 in the water column. The biomass of ciliates in Lake Shira is generally comparable to the average values for other mesotrophic lakes. The abundance and composition of ciliate populations in Lake Shira vary considerably with depth. Changes in the Lake ecosystem caused by meromixis breakdown in 2015-2016, which induced considerable variations in many Lake components, affected the vertical distribution of planktonic ciliates. However, the annual average biomass of the species that inhabited the Lake before meromixis breakdown remained unchanged. The total ciliate biomass increased due to the presence of the new species. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

Although the ciliate species diversity is low in the pelagic zone, in certain seasons, the biomass of some of the species may reach considerable values, up to 3.4 g m(-2) in the water column. MICROBIAL COMMUNITIES
Аннотация: Lake Uchum is a newly defined meromictic lake in Siberia with clear seasonal changes in its mixolimnion. This study characterized the temporal dynamics and vertical profile of bacterial communities in oxic and anoxic zones of the lake across all four seasons: October (autumn), March (winter), May (spring), and August (summer). Bacterial richness and diversity in the anoxic zone varied widely between time points.Proteobacteriawas the dominant bacterial phylum throughout the oxic and anoxic zones across all four seasons.Alphaproteobacteria(Loktanella) andGammaproteobacteria(Aliidiomarina) exhibited the highest abundance in the oxic and anoxic zone, respectively. Furthermore, there was a successional shift in sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria in the anoxic zone across the seasons. The most dominant SRB,Desulfonatronovibriosp., is likely one of the main producers of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and typically accumulates the most H2S in winter. The representative anoxygenic phototrophic bacterial group in Lake Uchum was purple sulfur bacteria (PSB). PSB were dominant (60.76%) in summer, but only had 0.2-1.5% relative abundance from autumn to spring. Multivariate analysis revealed that the abundance of these SRB and PSB correlated to the concentration of H2S in Lake Uchum. Taken together, this study provides insights into the relationships between changes in bacterial community and environmental features in Lake Uchum.

Аннотация: The patterns of the phase portraits of vegetation (agrophytocenosis, woody vegetation) constructed using two-dimensional space radiation temperature values and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index were studied. An analysis of the phenological variability of vegetation in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia during the growing seasons of 2003 and 2006 was carried out. Distinctive features of the phase portraits of agrophytocenosis and woody vegetation were revealed. The possibility of determining the boundaries of phenological states in the phytocenosis, and the transition range from one state into another was shown. Based on the complex analysis of the reflexive and radiative properties of the plant samples, an algorithm for calculating the start and end of the growing season was developed. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: We studied non-consumptive (non-predatory) mortality of Daphnia and Cyclops vicinus during four sampling seasons. Mortality estimations were based on live/dead sorting using special staining and measurements of sedimentation rates for dead individuals, depended on wind speed. Original equations were used for calculations. The estimated specific non-consumptive mortality never had biologically senseless negative values, which were often obtained on the basis of the other ways of mortality estimations, and was in a good agreement with other components of population dynamics. As found, the non-consumptive mortality was the important, often the determinant component of the zooplankton population dynamics.

In muscles of fish with different feeding spectra-crucian and perch-concentrations of some metals differed significantly; correlation graphs for metals also had different structures.
