Заглавие : Artificial radionuclides in fish fauna of the Yenisei River in the vicinity of the Mining-and-Chemical Combine (Siberia, Russia)
Место публикации : Radioprotection. - 2011. - Vol. 46, Is. 6 SUPPL. - С. S75-S78. - ISSN 00338451 (ISSN) , DOI 10.1051/radiopro/20116649s
Аннотация: Activities of radionuclides were measured in five species of fish (grayling, dace, crucian carp, pike, cod) sampled in the Yenisei River (Siberia, Russia) in the vicinity of the Mining-and-Chemical Combine (ROSATOM) from 2007 to 2010, with a gamma-spectrometer (Canberra, USA). The analyses of samples of organs and tissues of fish species revealed artificial (46Sc, 51Cr, 54Mn, 58,60Co, 59Fe, 65Zn, 85Sr, 99Mo, 103,106Ru, 137Cs, 141,144Ce) and natural (7Be, 40K) radionuclides in fish organs and tissues, including edible ones. The major percent (up to 80%) of 137Cs and 40K activity occurred in muscles of fish species, which also contained considerable percentages of 60Co (up to 70%) and 65Zn (up to 20%). Seasonal changes in the intake of artificial radionuclides by zoobenthos-feeding fish species (grayling and dace) were recorded and they were followed by an activity concentration increase in internal organs. The dramatic increase in radionuclide intake by grayling coincided with the change of diet source. Hence, the feeding behavior of fish can change the fluxes of artificial radionuclides in the Yenisei River. The most effective diet transfer of a radionuclide from gammarus to grayling (muscles and total body) was recorded for 40K (1.3) and much less effective for artificial nuclides. В© 2011 EDP Sciences.

Заглавие : Transfer of americium-241 from food and water to organs and tissues of the crucian carp *
Место публикации : Radioprotection. - 2011. - Vol. 46, Is. 6 SUPPL. - С. S69-S73. - ISSN 00338451 (ISSN) , DOI 10.1051/radiopro/20116648s
Аннотация: The transfer of transuranium element americium-241 (241Am) from food and water to organs and tissues of freshwater fish (Carassius auratus gibelio, crucian carp) has been investigated in laboratory experiments. The fishes were fed with homogenized biomass of submerged macrophytes labeled with 241Am, through catheter. For the first two days after force-feeding, fishes excreted up to 80% of ingested americium, for four days - 98%. 241Am was registered in internal organs and tissues that had no direct contact with americium (liver, bones, muscles) as early as two days after the feeding and after eight days, when the digestive tract was depurated. Among internal organs, the highest activity concentration was recorded in the liver (up to 427 Bq/kg). Activity concentration in bones (19-31 Bq/kg) was several times higher than in muscles, indicating the affinity of americium to bone tissue. Assimilation of 241Am in organs and tissues of crucian carp from water occurred mainly via the digestive tract too. В© 2011 EDP Sciences.

Аннотация: In 2002, a "top-down" biomanipulation (reduction of biomass of planktivorous fish Carassius auratus) had been successfully carried out in a small reservoir of the river Bugach (Krasnoyarsk, Russia), after which the cyanobacterial blooming ceased. However, the reservoir ecosystem was absolutely free of Daphnia - the main link of trophic cascade. As supposed, the reduction of blooming was the result of suppression of a direct stimulation effect of planktivorous fish on cyanobacteria, revealed earlier in laboratory experiments. The question arose as to whether the effect of stimulation of cyanobacteria revealed in laboratory may lead to the changes in biomass of cyanobacteria in the reservoir, observed after the biomanipulation. To test this supposition, a mathematical model describing growth of cyanobacteria in the reservoir was developed. The modelling results and field data on biomass of cyanobacteria in summer closely coincided. Modelling calculations showed that direct influence of planktivorous fish could cause the second summer peak of water blooming by Microcystis. On the contrary, removal of crucian carp from the reservoir will not affect the level of water blooming caused by cyanobacteria Anabaena, as this species' growth is not stimulated by fish. Аннотация: Growth and potential photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton passed through intestine of crucian carp (Carassius auratus) from a small Siberian reservoir were compared with those of phytoplankton taken the directly from the reservoir. The dominant phytoplankton species in the reservoir, Microcystis aeruginosa, showed a significant increase of growth after the passage. Subdominant Planktothrix agardhii also showed an increase in growth rate, while subdominants Anabaena flos-aquae and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae were not stimulated by the gut passage.

Заглавие : Metal Concentrations in the Ecosystem and Around Recreational and Fish-Breeding Pond Bugach
Место публикации : Water Resources. - 2001. - Vol. 28, Is. 3. - С. 288-296. - ISSN 00978078 (ISSN) , DOI 10.1023/A:1010400807660
Аннотация: Data of two field studies were used to analyze the concentrations of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Al, Cr, Ni, Cd, and Pb in the water, bottom deposits, zoobenthos, fish, and macrophytes of the Pond Bugach and in the soils near the pond. It was established that the majority of metals in the soils and bottom deposits correlate and their concentrations are governed by the universal geochemical factors of the region. The heavy metals were recognized that originate from anthropogenic sources and their concentrations were found to exceed the maximum admissible values for different components of the ecosystem. Five types of heavy metals migration were recognized in the soil-bottom deposits-zoobenthos-fish chain and in macrophytes. Statistically significant difference was found to exist between the concentrations of some heavy metals in the muscles of fish species with different food types (crucian carp and perch) as well as between the correlations of metals. The recorded concentrations were compared with the concentrations of metals measured in the last decade in other limnetic ecosystems in Siberia, Europe, North America, and China.

Аннотация: The foreign and Russian literature devoted to studying the effect of enhancing the growth of colonies of the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa Kutz em. Elenk. after their passage in a viable state through the digestive tract of filter-feeding aquatic animals (planktivorous fish, daphnia, and bivalves) has been analyzed. The main mechanisms of this effect are considered. Its role in the functioning of eutrophic reservoirs is discussed. The prospects and the need for further studies of the effect of enhancing Microcyctis growth after its viable passage through the digestive tracts of filter-feeding animals are shown for the development of a complete theory of the functioning of aquatic ecosystems.

Аннотация: The bioaccumulation of actinide Am-241 from food and water in bodies of freshwater fish (Carassius auratus gibelio, silver crucian carp) has been investigated in laboratory experiments. Homogenized biomass of submerged macrophytes labeled with Am-241 was injected into the fish gullet. Internal organs and tissues of crucian carp could be ranked according to activity concentration of dietary Am-241 after depuration of the digestive tract as follows: liver gonads bones muscles. Accumulation of waterborne Am-241 in internal organs and tissues of crucian carp mainly occurred via the digestive tract. While the concentration of Am-241 in liver of crucian carps decreased during depuration time, its concentration in bones increased indicating slower transfer of Am-241 to skeleton compared to muscles and liver. The retention of dietary Am-241 in the bodies of crucian carp reached 35%-46% of ingested Am-241: 20%-31% was retained in liver, 0.6%-0.8% in skeleton, and 1.4%-2.0% in muscles. The concentration factor of Am-241 from water was 0.4 for the whole body, 0.3 for liver, 0.01 for muscles, and 0.01 for skeleton. Trace amounts of Am-241 were recorded in viscera and muscles of a wild population of silver crucian carp inhabiting a radioactively contaminated part of the Yenisei River.

Заглавие : H2O-Bridged Proton-Transfer Channel in Emitter Species Formation in Obelin Bioluminescence
Место публикации : J Phys Chem B: American Chemical Society, 2021. - Article in press. - ISSN 15206106 (ISSN), DOI 10.1021/acs.jpcb.1c03985
Аннотация: Bioluminescence of a number of marine organisms is conditioned by Ca2+-regulated photoprotein (CaRP) with coelenterazine as the reaction substrate. The reaction product, coelenteramide, at the first singlet excited state (S1) is the emitter of CaRP. The S1-state coelenteramide is produced via the decomposition of coelenterazine dioxetanone. Experiments suggested that the neutral S1-coelenteramide is the primary emitter species. This supposition contradicts with theoretical calculations showing that the anionic S1-coelenteramide is a primary product of the decomposition of coelenterazine dioxetanone. In this study, applying molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and the hybrid quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) method, we investigated a proton-transfer (PT) process taking place in CaRP obelin from Obelia longissima for emitter formation. Our calculations demonstrate a concerted PT process with a water molecule as a bridge between anionic S1-coelenteramide and the nearest histidine residue. The low activation barrier as well as the strong hydrogen-bond network between the proton donor and the proton acceptor suggests a fast PT process comparable with that of the lifetime of excited anionic S1-coelenteramide. The existence of the PT process eliminates the discrepancy between experimental and theoretical studies. The fast PT process at emitter formation can also take place in other CaRPs. © 2021 American Chemical Society.
