Аннотация: Food spectrum of microzooplancton in fresh-water ecological systems is lowly studied area. However, these organisms play very important role in transfer of substance and energy in water reservoirs. Traditional method of analysis of food in the microzooplancton does not makes it possible to determine real assimilation of organic substance. Therefore, biochemical methods have been developed which are based on analysis of compositions of fatty acids of organic substance. This leads to determining of the food assimilation. Fatty-acid compositions of lipids allow specialists to determine specific groups of organisms such as bacteria, microalgae etc. Data of the analysis are presented.

Аннотация: Using experimental microecosystems the kinetics of phenol disappearance in small forest pond waters (Siberia, Russia) in the summer of 1995-96 were investigated. Despite of high variability of components of the ecosystem (plankton biomass and species composition) and two pronounced 'blooms' of green algae Volvox aureus the same kinetics of the disappearance took place over the investigated period. Half-lives of the pollutant depended on water temperature only. A comparison of the self-purification of the pond with that of the Krasnoyarsk reservoir, 'blooming' with blue-greens was carried out. Half-lives in the pond were significantly lower than that in the reservoir. During the periods of 'blooms' of the green algae in the pond the concentrations of inorganic nutrients were comparatively high and the phenol-degrading bacteria likely were not limited by these nutrients, in contrast to the periods of 'bloom' of the blue-green algae in the reservoir.

Аннотация: The notion of ecological biophysics as a scientific discipline investigating physical processes and phenomena caused by functioning of the living super-organism systems is formulated. The three main constituents of the ecological biophysics are defined: elaboration of the monitoring methods of the basis of sensing of the biophysical fields (of bioluminescence and fluorescence), mathematical and physical modeling and investigation of the part of living organisms in the hydrophysical processes of the ecosystem scale. Examples of realization of the ecological biophysical approach in the process of investigations of the World Ocean, Lake Baikal, the reservoirs of Dnieper and Yenisei revers are given.

The comparison of the euphotic layer depths, determined by primary optical characteristics, as well as measurements of underwater irradiance and transparency are carried out. Аннотация: Recruitment of pelagic populations of cyanobacteria from littoral bottom sediments is assumed to be one of the key factors for the development of harmful blooms. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain more information on the possible factors influencing the spatial distribution of the resting stages in littoral bottom sediments. To test the hypothesis that akinete abundances in littoral bottom sediments are associated with silt and the presence of higher water plants, we sampled spatial and vertical distribution and seasonal dynamics of akinetes of cyanobacterium Anabaena flos-aquae in a small Siberian reservoir. We found that akinetes accumulate in silt at stations located in macrophyte beds. Two experiments were carried out to test if there is relationship between size of inoculum and size of the pelagic population of A. flos-aquae. The proportion of A. flos-aquae in total phytoplankton biomass depended on the initial abundance of akinetes in bottom sediments. The model based on laboratory experiments gave good qualitative description of the field data. These findings can be useful to predict the location of the main akinete accumulation zones in a water body and plan the removal of sediment to prevent the cyanobacterial blooms. В© CSIRO 2011.

Аннотация: The biodiversity of bacterial communities along the Yenisei River at section c. 1800 km was studied using next-generation sequencing of 16S rRNA genes and common biodiversity indices. Overall, 3022 unique operational taxonomic units were identified. Actinobacteria and Proteobacteria were the dominant phyla at all sampling sites. The highest alpha-diversity values were found in the middle section of the studied river. The beta-diversity of bacterial assemblages in the river was related to the surrounding landscape (biome): three distinctly different bacterial assemblages occurred in sections of the river, situated in mountain taiga, plain taiga and in a region of permafrost, covered by forest-tundra and tundra. Tributaries arising from these different landscapes likely contributed substantially to the variations of Yenisei bacterial communities. In contrast to a prediction of the river continuum concept, the proportion of photoautotrophic Cyanobacteria in bacterial assemblages did not increase downstream, but peaked at the middle section.

Аннотация: Highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA), namely eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3, EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3, DHA), which are essential for many animals, including humans, are mainly produced in aquatic trophic webs. In fast-flowing rivers, macrozoobenthos is the main source of HUFA for fish and may be particularly vulnerable to thermal alterations associated with climate change. We studied benthic communities in a unique natural ecosystem: the Yenisei River downstream of the dam of Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station with very low temperature in summer because of discharge of cold water from deep in the reservoir and its tributaries with high summer temperature. This natural experiment' allowed to get rid of confounding factors, such as differences in light, seasonality, geology (biogeochemistry) and biogeography (regional species pools). As found, in spite of an increase of biodiversity and rates of daily production in warm rivers compared with cold sites, DHA and partly EPA production of zoobenthos decreased with the increase of temperature because of changes in species composition. Thus, in a climate warming context, we can predict a decrease of production of these HUFA by river zoobenthos and thereby a diminishing of their supply for fish and next to humans. Аннотация: The relevance of the work is caused by the need to study seasonal variations in the volume and composition of sedimentation flows in modern lakes and their relationship with weather and climatic factors, which can serve as a basis for reconstructing climatic changes in the past. The main aim: to assess seasonal changes in the mass, velocity and chemical composition of sedimentary material entering Lake Shira on the basis of generalization and analysis of the results of multiyear annual monitoring of the material of sedimentation traps incubated in the lake. Object of the study was the drainless, slightly saline meromictic lake Shira, located in the steppe intermontane depression on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia. Methods: long-term seasonal monitoring of sedimentary material forming bottom sediments using sedimentation traps incubated in the lake; study of the obtained material for a wide range of parameters (biological, hydrochemical, lithological-geochemical, granulometric, etc.) by various conventional methods, including the method of X-ray fluorescence microanalysis on synchrotron radiation beams (XRF-SI), adapted for the study of bottom samples; computer statistical analysis of the data obtained (multiple regression method, cross-correlation analysis, etc.) in order to identify the relationship between regional temperatures and the chemical composition of the deposited material with the construction of a regression model. Results. Based on the study of the amount and elemental composition of the sedimentary material of the seasonal bottom traps of Lake Shira, collected for 2012-2017, a dynamic model of the seasonal influx of sedimentary flows in lakes of this landscape-geochemical type was formulated. It has been established that the most intensive sedimentation of the material occurs in the summer-autumn period, less - in the winter-spring period. At the same time, in spring, the accumulation of allochthonous (terrigenous) aleurite material, supplied with flood waters, predominates; in the summer-autumn period, simultaneously with the deposition of clastogenic pelitic material, biogenic and chemogenic materials are accumulated in sediments in large quantities. In winter, clastogenic and biogenic processes of sedimentation practically stop, only chemogenic sedimentation of carbonates is observed. It was established that the sedimentation of allochthonous material entering the reservoir occurs during two-three months, which indicates a certain inertness of sedimentation. The presence of a stable relationship between the mass and chemical composition of terrigenous material entering the lake with the regional temperature of the near-surface air, which is one of the main regulators of the water balance of the reservoir, is shown.

Аннотация: Dynamics of bacterial plankton community of eutrophic water reservoir in laboratory microecosystems with amino acid lysine was studied using PCR-DGGE technique. The addition of lysine to the microecosystems resulted in changes in the composition of the bacterial plankton in summer; in particular, a number of Lys1 and Lys2 species (genotypes) that consume this amino acid grew fast in the bacterial community. The plank tonic bacterial communities did not respond to the addition of lysine in spring and late summer. The obtained data confirm the hypothesis for the narrow specialization of bacterial plankton species to the consumption of individual organic substances. В© 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: The comparison of the dynamics of phytoplankton biomass and total amino acid composition was made for two water bodies: in one the phytoplankton were dominated by prokaryotes (i.e., there was a bloom of cyanobacteria) and by eukaryotic microalgae in the other. The dynamics of phytoplankton biomass and of total amino acid composition of water were investigated during the vegetation season. It was found that the only factor that significantly changed the percentages of amino acids in water was the bloom of cyanobacteria in the "blooming" water body. During the bloom of cyanobacteria, the absolute and relative content of the Leu-Glu group increased, while the contents of other acids generally dropped. Before and after the bloom, no significant variations in the total amino acid composition were recorded. In the reservoir where eukaryotic microalgae dominated, no significant variations in amino acid composition were recorded during the season.

Аннотация: Seasonal dynamics of Anabaena flos-aquae (Lyngb.) Breb., including vegetative cells, akinetes and akinete envelopes, in bottom sediments and water column at both littoral and deeper central stations of a small Siberian reservoir was studied. Two types of akinetes were observed: in the first half of summer Anabaena formed akinetes, which served for vegetative reproduction and germinated in water column soon after differentiation, while in the second half of summer the akinetes produced served as a resting stages, which were deposited to bottom sediments. Canonical correlation analyses revealed that decrease of water temperature was the main environmental factor that stimulated the akinete formation. In contrast to the general opinion, concentration of inorganic phosphorus slightly, but positively influenced the akinete formation. Thus, akinetes formed in response to the temperature decrease, needs a certain level of this nutrient. At littoral and open-water stations abundance and seasonal dynamics of akinetes in water column and their sinking pattern were very similar. However, seasonal dynamics of abundance of akinetes in sediments in these two reservoir locations differed: whereas the abundance of akinetes in open water increased permanently during the summer, that in the littoral decreased soon after their sedimentation.
