Аннотация: Methods of atomic absorption, flame photometry, and emission spectral analysis were used to study the concentrations of metals in water and major ecosystem components of the Yenisei River upstream of Krasnoyarsk City (conventionally background area). The mean bulk concentrations of Al and Cu in water exceeded the MAC for water bodies used for fishery. Cu concentration in freshwater shrimp was found to be reliably higher than that in the link of primary producers (periphyton), and Cd concentration in caddis fly larvae was found to exceed that in water moss. The maximal concentrations of metals among the examined aquatic organisms were recorded in periphyton. Cr concentration in the muscles of Arctic grayling was found to exceed some international standards. В© 2009 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Benefit-risk ratio of food fish intake as the source of essential fatty acids vs. heavy metals: A case study of Siberian grayling from the Yenisei River / M. I. Gladyshev [et al.] // Food Chemistry. - 2009. - Vol. 115, Is. 2. - P545-550, DOI 10.1016/j.foodchem.2008.12.062 . - ISSN 0308-8146

Benefit-risk ratio -- Essential fatty acids -- Grayling -- Hazard quotient -- Heavy metals
Аннотация: A formula was derived for quantification of benefit-risk ratio (hazard quotient) for the intake of a product containing essential polyunsaturated fatty acids vs. heavy metals. The quotient was used in a three year case study of the contents of essential fatty acids and heavy metals in Siberian grayling, the main food fish from the middle section of the Yenisei River. As found, in general the fish intake was potentially very beneficial for human health, except on a few occasions, when the risk overweighed the benefit because of high contents of chromium in the fish muscle tissue. The data demonstrated the necessity for regular monitoring of the hazard quotients for food fish in wild conditions, based at least on monthly sampling frequency. В© 2008 Elsevier Ltd. Аннотация: During three field seasons (June-September) of 1997-99 contents of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Al, Cr, Ni, Cd, and Pb were determined in compartments of ecosystem (surrounding soils, bottom sediments, water, zoobenthos, macrophytes, and fish) of a fish and recreation pond situated at the edge of Krasnoyarsk City (Siberia, Russia). Contents of most parts of metals in soils, water, and macrophytes significantly correlated with each other. As concluded, their contents were determined by natural, general, geochemical peculiarities of the region. Heavy metals, contents of which were higher than federal upper limits of concentration, were revealed. In muscles of fish with different feeding spectra - crucian and perch - concentrations of some metals differed significantly; correlation graphs for metals also had different structures. Comparison of our data with those on diverse aquatic ecosystems of Siberia, Europe, North America, and China published in the last decade was carried out. It was concluded that a distribution of heavy metals in the compartments of an aquatic ecosystem presently have to be determined for each particular water body until general regularities are discovered.

Аннотация: The study addresses the effect produced by different inorganic salts and detergents (SDS, Triton X-100, the Tween series) on the ATP-dependent bioluminescent reaction catalyzed by the luciferase of the new earthworm species Fridericia heliota (Annelida: Clitellata: Oligochaeta: Enchytraeidae). It has been shown that the effect of divalent metal salts on luminescence is determined by the action of cations. Three of them - Mg2+, Mn2+ and Ca2+ - can stimulate luciferase activity at concentrations varying within a wide range, and Mn2+ can act as a 100%-effective substitute for Mg2+ in F. heliota luminescence reaction in vitro. The inhibitory effect of monovalent metal salts on luminescence is largely determined by the action of the anion part of the molecule. The effectiveness of the inhibitory effect of anions increases in the following order: {Mathematical expression}. Of the sodium salts, dodecyl sulfate, which is an anionic detergent, produces the strongest inhibitory effect on luciferase. On the contrary, nonionic detergents produce a stimulatory effect on the F. heliota luciferase. The action of the most effective of them - Triton X-100 - is determined by its ability to reduce the actual concentration of lipid inhibitors in the reaction mixture. В© 2006 Elsevier B.V.     Trace elements exchange in experimental closed life support systems [Text] / I. V. Gribovskaya, V. Y. ESA SPECIAL PUBLICATIONS : EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY, 1997. - Vol. 400: 6th European Symposium on Space Environmental Control Systems (MAY 20-22, 1997, NOORDWIJK, NETHERLANDS). - P. 859-862. - Cited References: 0 . - ISBN 0379-6566. - ISBN 92-9092-283-4

Аннотация: Measurements of trace elements incoming and exiting ''Bios-3'' biological-engineering life support system evidence presence of a source of these elements inside the system. This source is, most probably, structural units (steel walls, hose rubber, plastic coatings), catalysts of the thermal catalytic incinerator, expanded clay aggregate mechanically fixing plants and so on. The trace elements are received by the nutrient solutions and build up in the plant biomass. As a consequence the crew may receive elevated doses of such trace elements as aluminum, lead, nickel, chromium. To reduce income of trace elements to LSS requires thorough selection and preliminary treatment of structural materials with reduced desorption capacities and running-in of the system in idle mode prior to exploitation. This mode involves operation of the engineering part of the system (without plants and humans, but with nutrient solutions) for several months.

Аннотация: Experiments in vivo demonstrated the protective effect of modified nanodiamonds on guinea pig skin after local exposure cobalt ions, but not chrome ions. The observed differences are determined by different adsorption of these ions by nanodiamonds: in vitro experiments showed that nanodiamonds adsorbed cobalt ions, but not chrome ions from water solutions. The perspectives of using modified nanodiamonds as a new adsorbent for prevention of allergic contact dermatitis induced by ions of bivalent metals are discussed. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
