Аннотация: The process of electrophoresis/dielectrophoresis of shock-synthesized nanodiamond powders on the large-area Si field emission arrays was studied. The process was found to be very sensitive to the modification of nanodiamond powder. The growth rate and film morphology of nanodiamond coatings on Si tips were investigated. Results in fabrication and testing of nanodiamond-based cold cathodes and sealed device prototypes are presented. (C) 1999 American Vacuum Society. [S0734-211X(99)06002-3].

nanodiamond -- modified nanodiamonds -- hydrosols -- colloidal stability -- electrophoresis -- powder fractioning -- precursors for CVD -- electron field emission
Аннотация: A unique technology of nanodiamond surface modification is suggested which allows to separation of commercial nanodiamond powders into two fractions (F1 and 172), each possessing absolutely new properties as compared to the initial powder. F1 and F2 differ in size characteristics. Initial and modified nanodiamonds contain iron impurities and two types of nondiamond carbon. The color of the powders and hydrosols does not correlate with the content of non-diamond carbon. According to the EPR data, modified nanodiamonds possess a high level of diamond matrix shielding, and the extracted fractions differ in width of the basic transition area and in the SHF energy adsorption ratio. Due to this, F1 can be applied as precursors for CVD growth of nanocrystalline diamond and as field electron emission tips.

Аннотация: Detonation nanodiamond powders produced by different manufacturers were surface modified to reduce the amount of surface impurities and impart to the particles a high colloidal stability in aqueous suspensions. Modified DNDs (MDNDs) were separated into fractions and evaluated by the zeta potential, particles size distribution and elemental composition. MDNDs retain colloidal stability after the hydrosols are dried and the resulting powders are resuspended. Sedimentation stability and fraction composition are proposed as parameters for standardization of commercial nanodiamonds. © 2015 Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

    Physicochemical properties of Al2O3 powder produced by explosive synthesis [Text] / A. A. Bukaemskii, A. G. Beloshapko, A. P. Puzyr // Combust. Explos. - 2000. - Vol. 36, Is. 5. - P. 660-666, DOI 10.1007/BF02699530. - Cited References: 18 . - ISSN 0010-5082

Аннотация: The phase, dispersive, and morphological features of an aluminum oxide powder produced by explosive synthesis are examined experimentally. It is shown that the particle-size distribution has three distinct maxima, which are due to different combustion regimes. The relationship between the sizes and morphology of the starting powder and the product is determined. Considerable attention is given to a study of the ultrafine fraction of the product powder. The ultrafine particles are shown to have a regular spherical shape, and sinters are not revealed. Besides spherical particles, the synthesized powder contains faceted crystals. X-ray phase analysis of the ultrafine fraction of the synthesized powders shows that this fraction consists only of the metastable phases of the oxide - the delta- or oxynitride modifications. The delta -modification differs from that described in the literature.

Аннотация: Polymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] has been used as a matrix in slow-release formulations of the herbicide metribuzin (MET). Physical P(3HB)/MET mixtures in the form of solutions, powders, and emulsions were used to construct different metribuzin formulations (films, granules, pellets, and microparticles). SEM, X-Ray, and DSC proved the stability of these formulations incubated in sterile water in vitro for long periods of time (up to 49 days). Metribuzin release from the polymer matrix has been also studied. By varying the shape of formulations (microparticles, granules, films, and pellets), we were able to control the release time of metribuzin, increasing or decreasing it. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Аннотация: Superparamagnetic ferrihydrite powders with average nanoparticle sizes of 2.5 nm produced by the chemical deposition method. Static and dynamic magnetic properties are measured. As a result of ultrasonic treatment in the cavitation regime of suspensions of ferrihydrite powders in a solution of the albumin protein, the Fe ions are reduced to the metallic state. A sol of ferrihydrite nanoparticles is prepared in an aqueous solution of arabinogalactan polysaccharide. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Thermal, mechanical and biodegradation studies of biofiller based poly-3-hydroxybutyrate biocomposites / S. Thomas [et al.] // Int. J. Biol. Macromol. - 2019, DOI 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2019.11.112 . - Article in press. - ISSN 0141-8130

Biocomposite -- Environmental degradation -- Physical properties -- Poly-3-hydroxybutyrate
Аннотация: Biodegradable poly-3-hydroxybutyrate [P(3HB)] and natural fillers - clay, peat, and birch wood flour – were used to prepare powdered composites to form pellets and granules. Pellets were produced by cold pressing of polymer and filler powder whereas granules were produced from the powders wetted with ethanol. Characterization techniques like IR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray analysis, mechanical analysis and electron microscopy were employed to study the properties of the initial P(3HB) and fillers and the composites. Analysis of the IR spectra of the composites showed the absence of chemical bonds between the components, i.e. the composites were physical mixtures. Young's moduli of the pellets prepared from initial materials varied considerably, and the highest value was obtained for P(3HB) pellets (350 MPa). Studies of biodegradation of composite pellets and granules in the soil for 35 days showed that the residual mass of the pellets had decreased to 68% for P(3HB); 56.4% for P(3HB)/peat; 67% for P(3HB)/wood flour, and 64% for P(3HB)/clay; granules exhibited a similar mass loss, residual mass of the granules of P(3HB) was 68.4%, P(3HB)/peat 46.4%; P(3HB)/wood flour 77%, and P(3HB)/clay 74%. This shows the significance of the material as an eco-friendly composite without sacrificing its mechanical properties. © 2018
