Аннотация: Abstract: Fatty acid composition and content of 2 forms of sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka from lakes in Kamchatka Peninsula (Russia) were compared. One form of sockeye salmon was anadromous ("marine"), that is, adult fish migrated in ocean to feed and grow and than return in the lake to breed. Fish of another form, kokanee, never migrate in the ocean. Per cent levels of the main indicators of nutritive value, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3), were significantly higher in the landlocked O. nerka. However, concentrations of EPA and DHA per wet weight of filets were higher in the marine form, because of the relatively higher content of sum of fatty acids in their muscle tissue. As concluded, fish fed in marine environment had higher contents of long-chain n-3 fatty acids per wet weight than fish of the same species, fed in fresh waters. In general, both the anadromous sockeye salmon and the landlocked kokanee salmon can be recommended for human diet as a valuable product concerning contents of EPA and DHA. Аннотация: Three levels of chemical communications involved plankton Crustacea are considered: 1) Influence of zooplankton excretion on phytoplankton; 2) Influence of zooplankton excretion on the individuals of the same or other species of the same trophic level; 3) Influence of chemical cues released by predatory zooplankton and fish on herbivorous zooplankton. The data on the influence of excreted cues on some physiological (growth, reproduction, feeding, etc.) and behavioural (vertical and horizontal migrations) characters of planktonic crustaceans are presented. Ecological role and chemistry cues responsible for the interactions of different trophic levels can be different. It is considered that chemical communications in aquatic ecosystems can be provided with: 1) Species-specific cues that strictly influence particular biological functions (communication system of feromone type); 2) Non-specific cues that strictly influence particular functions (system of regulator, that act at the whole ecosystem as the hormonal system of an organism). 3) Non-specific substances with broad (non-specidic) influence - toxic substances of "biocondition substances" according to classification of Novikov and Kharlamova (2000).

Аннотация: Deep insight into types of vegetation variability provided by AVHRR space scanner images of vegetation index spatial distribution helps reveal impact of land surface changes on environment. The Institute of Computational Modeling SB RAS has developed nonparametric algorithms of automatic to classify and recognize patterns of these images which helped to reveal: (1) major variability types (generally connected); (2) areas belonging to small classes, which can be used to reveal deviations from 'normal' (e.g., forest fires, etc.); (3) deviation from a certain type of dynamics indicative of changes in condition of plants, which can be used to diagnose pathology at early stages; (4) impact of economical activities on vegetation in Norilsk area. The authors provide biological interpretation of the satellite data. Computer-animated dynamics and color maps are presented. Nonparametric algorithms of an automatic classification and pattern recognition were provided by the Institute of Computational Modeling SB RAS. (C) 2000 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.

Аннотация: The database "BiolumBase" is designed for the selection and systematization of available world information on microorganisms containing bioluminescent systems; it includes two sections: "natural" and "transgenic" luminous microorganisms. At present, logic schemes of divisions, classification of the objects, presentation of characteristics, and the inputs of relative information, as well as the necessary program modules including links to the database, are developed. The database is constructed on the basis of published data and our own experimental results; the subsequent linkage of the database to the Internet is envisaged. Users will be able to obtain not only the catalogues of strains but also information concerning the properties and functions of the known species of luminous bacteria, the structure, regulatory mechanisms, and application of bioluminescent systems and genetically engineered constructions with live genes, as well as to find references and to search strains by using any set of attributes. The database will provide information that is of interest for the development of microbial ecology and biotechnology, in particular, for the prediction of biological hazard from the application of transgenic strains.

Аннотация: The database of luminescent bacteria stored in the IBSO collection is one of the metasections of BIOLUMBASE. A logical schema of the metasection "Natural luminescent organisms", classification of entities, and methods of attribute presentation have been developed. The database of luminescent bacteria maintained in the IBSO collection is being widened by findings of the collection staff as well as by information from scientific literature. The expectant contents of the database will be useful for resolving various problems of microbial ecology and biotechnology which deal with luminescent bacteria, luminescent system derived from them, and lux-genes cloned to other organisms. A potential user would be able not only to access cataloged data on strains but also to get information on properties, functions, use, and bibliography and to perform an attribute-match search of a strain. Аннотация: Six basic phase portraits differing in character and in the number of their equilibrium behaviour regimes were suggested in the classification of forest insect population dynamics. The portraits graphically illustrate six types of dynamic behavior of numbers of the system 'phytophage-entomophage': two types of stable equilibrium dynamics (stationary and oscillatory) and four types corresponding to outbreaks of mass reproduction - fixed, permanent, reversive and true outbreaks, respectively. In this paper we consider the single parameter model, with its parametric domains realizing a wide spectrum of phase dynamics, both basic and transitional. The changes in the phase portraits are accompanied by the bifurcations in the model. The results of these analyses are in agreement with the 'stability principle of mobile ecological systems' and may supply its parameter substantiation at the model level.

MODIS -- AVHRR -- Classification -- Continental water bodies -- Spectral variability -- Phytoplankton -- Krasnoyarsk Reservoir
Аннотация: In this work historical investigations and modern results of classification of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir are presented. The paper presents results of studying the dynamics of phytopigments and other optically active components, using multispectral satellite data. Several approaches to interpreting satellite data for optically complex inland water bodies are offered. Based on results of historical investigations it is shown that the spatial distribution of phytoplankton in the reservoir stems back to the time of its formation. Color index in the red spectral region (CIR) is introduced. A relationship between the color index and chlorophyll concentration is investigated. The CIR, derived from the AVHRR data, has been found to be related to chlorophyll concentration. Based on MODIS data, the waters of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir have been classified in accordance with their optical spectral variability, using the technique of unsupervised Iso-Data classification. An empirical relationship between multispectral MODIS data and the ground-truth measurements of chlorophyll concentration has been found. (C) 2008 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Ltd.     Human virus genes are less redundant than human genes [Текст] / A. N. Gorban, T. G. Popova, M. G. Sadovskii // Genetika. - 1996. - Vol. 32, Is. 2. - P. 289-294. - Cited References: 8 . - ISSN 0016-6758

Аннотация: Statistical parameters of nucleotide sequences of mature human RNAs and those of human viruses were compared. The redundancy values of the appropriate genes were compared. The redundancy of virus genes was shown to be, on the average, less than that of human genes. The distribution of human genes according to redundancy values is bimodal, and that of human virus gene's is trimodal. This fact suggests possibility of a novel gene classification according to statistical characteristics of nucleotide sequences.

denaturation -- dielectric relaxation -- fluorescence lifetime -- tertiary protein structure -- tryptophan
Аннотация: Tryptophan fluorescence lifetimes were analyzed for three proteins: human serum albumin, bovine serum albumin, and bacterial luciferase, which contain one, two, and seven tryptophan residues, respectively. For all of the proteins, the fluorescence decays were fitted by three lifetimes: ?1 = 6–7 ns, ?2 = 2.0–2.3 ns, and ?3 ? 0.1 ns (the native state), and ?1 = 4.4–4.6 ns, ?2 = 1.7–1.8 ns, and ?3 ? 0.1 ns (the denatured state). Corresponding decay-associated spectra had similar peak wavelengths and spectrum half-widths both in the native state (??1max = 342 nm, ??2max = 328 nm, and ??3max = 315 nm), and in the denatured state (??1max = 350 nm, ??2max= 343 nm, and ??3max= 317 nm). The differences in the steady-state spectra of the studied proteins were accounted for the individual ratio of the lifetime component contributions. The lifetime components were compared with a classification of tryptophan residues in the structure of these proteins within the discrete states model. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: Vegetation indices derived from remote sensing measurements are commonly used to describe and monitor vegetation. However, the same plant community can have a different NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) depending on weather conditions, and this complicates classification of plant communities. The present study develops methods of classifying the types of plant communities based on long-term NDVI data (MODIS/Aqua). The number of variables is reduced by introducing two integrated parameters of the NDVI seasonal series, facilitating classification of the meadow, steppe, and forest plant communities in Siberia using linear discriminant analysis. The quality of classification conducted by using the markers characterizing NDVI dynamics during 2003-2017 varies between 94% (forest and steppe) and 68% (meadow and forest). In addition to determining phenological markers, canonical correlations have been calculated between the time series of the proposed markers and the time series of monthly average air temperatures. Based on this, each pixel with a definite plant composition can be characterized by only four values of canonical correlation coefficients over the entire period analyzed. By using canonical correlations between NDVI and weather parameters and employing linear discriminant analysis, one can obtain a highly accurate classification of the study plant communities. © 2019 by the authors.
