Аннотация: The efficiency of the transfer of gamma-emitting radionuclides in food chains, including macrophytes, zoobenthos, and bentho- and ichthyophagist fish, was estimated in the radiation-polluted region of the Yenisei river. Significant differences in the efficiency of the transfer of natural and technogenic radionuclides between components of different trophic levels were revealed. Substantial species-related differences in the accumulation of radionuclides in ichthyophagist fish from food were revealed. В© 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: In the course of monthly sampling in 2008-2010, two regions of the littoral of the Yenisei river were compared. One of these regions (conventionally pure) was situated upstream of Krasnoyarsk, while the other (conventionally polluted) was downstream of Krasnoyarsk. The concentrations of heavy metals, oil products, phenols, biogenic elements and essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in various components of the river ecosystem were determined. It was discovered that the anthropogenic pollution causes a decrease in the resources of essential PUFA in the biomass of the upper links of the food chain of the river ecosystem. Аннотация: The problem of how a gradual development of ecological and morphological adaptations combines with large genome rearrangements, which have been found to occur in the phylogeny of many groups of organisms, is a matter of discussion in the literature. The objective of this work was to study the problem with the example of salmonids, whose evolution included at least six events of multiple chromosome fusions. Large karyotype rearrangements are associated with a decrease in ecological and morphological diversity in salmonids. In the above example, genome rearrangements seem to distort the function of the genetic systems that are responsible for the occurrence of certain ecological forms in salmonids. © 2017 by the authors; Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.

Аннотация: Long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) essential for human nutrition are mostly obtained from wild-caught fish. To sustain the LC-PUFA supply from natural populations, one needs to know how environmental and intrinsic factors affect fish fatty acid (FA) profiles and contents. We studied seven Salmoniformes species from two arctic lakes. We aimed to estimate differences in the FA composition of total lipids and two major lipid classes, polar lipids (PL) and triacylglycerols (TAG), among the species and to evaluate LC-PUFA contents corresponding to PL and TAG in muscles. Fatty acid profiles of PL and TAG in all species were characterized by the prevalence of omega-3 LC-PUFA and C16-C18 monoenoic FA, respectively. Fish with similar feeding spectra were identified similarly in multivariate analyses of total lipids, TAG and PL, due to differences in levels of mostly the same FA. Thus, the suitability of both TAG and total lipids for the identification of the feeding spectra of fish was confirmed. All species had similar content of LC-PUFA esterified as PL, 1.9-3.5 mg g(-1), while the content of the TAG form strongly varied, from 0.9 to 9.8 mg g(-1). The LC-PUFA-rich fish species accumulated these valuable compounds predominately in the TAG form.

salmonid fishes of families Coregonidae and Salmonidae -- polyunsaturated -- fatty acids -- eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) -- docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) -- embryogenesis
Аннотация: A hypothesis was advanced and grounded that the total content of eicosapentaenoic (EPA, 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic (DHA, 22:6n-3) acids in fish muscle tissue is associated with the species-specific (taxon-specific) duration of embryo development. A meta-analysis of the original and published data was performed using fishes of the families Coregonidae and Salmonidae as an example. Fishes with longer embryo development times, which are observed at lower temperatures, were found to have significantly higher EPA + DHA contents in muscles as compared with the species that belong to the same families but have shorter embryo development times. This association was explained by the fact that an embryo forms more cells per unit tissue volume at lower temperatures, which requires a greater specific amount of cell membranes and, therefore, greater amounts of EPA and DHA to produce them.

Аннотация: Abstract—: The variability of craniological characters has been studied for anadromous and lacustrine forms of whitefish Coregonus lavaretus (Linnaeus, 1758) from waterbodies of the Karelian coast of the White Sea. The significant phenotypic plasticity of craniological characters of the whitefish depends on the environmental conditions. Moreover, there is a correlation between indexes of the craniological traits (except for the index of the snout length) and the body and/or head length (allometric effect). These results suggest that it is unreasonable to separate anadromous and lacustrine forms of C. lavaretus as distinct taxonomical units and argues for the invalidity of C. pidschian and C. oxyrinchus species. © 2020, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
