Аннотация: The process of dendritic crystallization of Co and Fe films is investigated. Electron-diffraction methods show that fractal growth of dendrites in Co and Fe films proceeds by multiple twinning of the elements of a nanostructure consisting of different clusters with close-packing. The formation of superstructures is explained by a shell model of a cluster structure forming nanocrystallites. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.

Аннотация: The displacement field of the hysteresis loop due to exchange anisotropy in planar DyCo/NiFe systems is studied experimentally as a function of the concentration of the rare-earth element. The bilayer DyCo/NiFe film system is characterized by an orthogonal arrangement of the effective magnetizations of separate layers under the condition that the amorphous DyCo layer is prepared in the region of magnetic compensation. An analysis of the dependence of the displacement field on the Dy concentration has led to an understanding of the physical mechanism of the formation of the exchange anisotropy in these planar systems. Аннотация: The Faraday effect (FE) was studied in Co-Sm-O composite films consisting of nanoparticles of metallic cobalt embedded in a samarium oxide dielectric matrix. The volume of the magnetic phase was similar to 60%. The FE spectral dependence for the condensates studied revealed a substantial change as compared to that for bulk cobalt samples, as well as for the films of nanocrystalline Co and CoSm films prepared in this study. An enhancement of the FE was also observed in the short-wavelength part of the optical spectrum. (c) 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The problem of increasing the recording density in magnetic storage devices is considered. It is shown that nanograined magnetic film media are candidate materials for magnetic data carriers. For these materials to completely meet the requirements for super-high-density magnetic carriers, appropriate structure ordering must be set in the films. To this end, it is suggested to take advantage of the high adsorbability of 3d metal nanoparticles on high-molecular compounds. To produce the carriers based on these materials with a recording density of as high as 1010 bit/cm2, nanoparticles of size £5 nm should be embedded in a polymer matrix. To do this, it is necessary to combine chemical and physical methods for nanocomposite production.

Аннотация: The problem of designing high-resistivity soft magnetic materials based on 3d-metal nanocrystalline films is discussed. To increase the electrical resistivity, nanogranular composites are proposed; they consist of superparamagnetic particles embedded into a dielectric matrix. To obtain the required soft magnetic properties in such composites, it is necessary to realize magnetic ordering due to the effects of magnetic interaction between nanoparticles. As an example, magnetic films that exhibit good high-frequency properties in a range up to several hundreds of megahertz are presented. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The parameters of the transition layer in exchange-biased film structures are necessary agents to understand the mechanism of formation of unidirectional anisotropy. The layer thickness in NiFe/DyCo films has been determined by comparison of signals of the polar magneto-optical Kerr effect from a reference DyCo film and a hard magnetic layer of the exchange-biased structure. The layer thickness obtained is one order of magnitude larger than that characteristic of ferromagnet-antiferromagnet bilayer films. The mechanism of magnetization reversal of the structure under study has been explained within the model suggesting the formation of 180A degrees boundaries in the interface.

Аннотация: Dependence of the magnetic and magnetooptical properties of an exchange-coupled NiFe/DyCo bilayer system on the thickness (t (DyCo)) of a magnetically hard layer has been studied. It is established that the unidirectional anisotropy vanishes at t (DyCo) similar to 400 , while the coercive field in the magnetically soft layer becomes comparable to the exchange-induced field shift. In this case, the DyCo layer magnetization is almost parallel to the film plane, whereas a reference DyCo film exhibits a perpendicular anisotropy. A model of the magnetic state of layers in the ferro/ferrimagnetic layer structure under consideration is proposed, which assumes that a 180A degrees domain wall is formed at the interface upon magnetization reversal in the magnetically soft layer.

Аннотация: The effect of annealing temperature on the structure and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline cobalt films has been studied by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetometric (vibrational magnetometer) techniques. Interpretation of the experimental data demonstrates that the initial films have an amorphous-like structure due to the high degree of disordering in the intergranular regions and nanoparticles. This structure transforms into the equilibrium polycrystalline state through the formation of a number of intermediate phases. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/ Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The effect of annealing on the structure and physical properties of Co-Sm-O alloy films prepared using pulsed plasma deposition is investigated. It is found that Co-Sm-O films in the initial state possess superparamagnetic properties due to the presence of small-sized magnetic nanoparticles surrounded by dielectric layers of samarium oxide in the film structure. Upon annealing, the Co-Sm-O films undergo structural transformations and exhibit a number of magnetic properties (including those inherent in both soft and hard magnetic materials). Аннотация: The effect of layer thicknesses on the magnetic properties and mechanism of magnetization reversal in exchange-coupled NiFe/CoP film structures has been studied. The process of magnetization reversal was studied by analysis of the magnetic-induction and magneto-optical hysteresis loops. It is established that, as the thicknesses of layers in the NiFe/CoP film structure are increased, the system exhibits a transition from homogeneous magnetization reversal in the structure to exchange spring formation in the soft magnetic layer.
