Аннотация: The monolithic design of a compact bandpass filter X-band is made on the technology of multilayered printed circuit boards. Quarter-wave stripline resonators of the filter have two conductors divided by a layer of prepreg having low parameters that bond together the design. This eliminates the influence of the prepreg on the characteristics of the devices, ensuring good repeatability of filters in mass production. To increase the high-frequency stopband of the filter, one of the conductors of each resonator is cut in half by a transverse slit. The constructive sizes of the device were obtained by parametric synthesis using the electrodynamic analysis of its 3D model. The experimental data of the five-order filter are in good agreement with the electromagnetic simulation of filter of the 3D model. The experimental device has a central frequency of the passband of 10 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 5.7%, and its dimensions and weight are 18.0 × 5.4 × 2.1 mm3 and 0.5 g. The important advantage of the developed design is the possibility of its installation on the board using the surface mounting method.

Аннотация: The design of a multilayer bandpass filter has been investigated, in which each of the half-wavelength resonators consists of two dielectric layers with outer strip conductor gratings in the form of square grids and inner ones in the form of square patches. The grids serve as mirrors with specified reflective properties, which ensure optimal couplings of the outer resonators with free space and optimal coupling between the resonators. The patch gratings make it possible to tune the resonator eigenfrequency during the filter synthesis. The efficiency of the quasi-static calculation of the frequency response for the layered structure is shown for the case of a lattice period smaller than the wavelength in the dielectric and much smaller than the layer thickness. Since the calculation does not require much computing power, the parametric synthesis of the device can be performed on a conventional personal computer. The measured characteristics of the prototype of the synthesized third-order filter with a fractional passband width of ∼10% and a central passband frequency of ∼10.6 GHz are in good agreement with the calculation. The proposed design allows one to fabricate multilayer panels radio transparent in a certain frequency band for hiding microwave antennas.

Аннотация: A new design of a multilayer bandpass filter is proposed, in which each resonator consists of two identical dielectric layers with parallel strip conductor gratings on their outer surfaces and an orthogonal strip conductor grating between the layers. The filter designed on the basis of crossed gratings works simultaneously as a polarizer transparent in a specified frequency band if the electric field vector of a wave is parallel to the outer strip conductors but reflects waves with an orthogonal polarization. The data from a numerical electrodynamic analysis of a 3D model of the proposed device agree well with the results of the measurements performed on the fifth-order filter–polarizer prototype with a relative bandwidth of 14% and a central frequency of 13.4 GHz. The microwave power loss in the filter passband is ~1.2 dB under parallel polarization of the electromagnetic wave and more than 40 dB under orthogonal polarization.

Аннотация: The design of a 10th-order waveguide bandpass filter with an additional inductive cross-coupling between non-adjacent resonators has been proposed and studied. An inductive coupling is formed by a U-shaped conductor structure with grounded ends that is formed in the filter cover. This method of cross-coupling organization ensures not only the temperature stability of the characteristics, but also the manufacturability of the structure. The high selectivity of the device is achieved by both the attenuation poles located near the passband, as well as the level of suppression in the stopbands, exceeding 120 dB. The passband loss of the fabricated filter is ~ 0.8 dB at its central frequency f0=18.2 GHz and relative bandwidth Δf/f0=1.5%. The small dimensions (135 x 30 x 10 mm) and the weight of about 200 g of the device, with simultaneously high electrical characteristics show the promise of its use, for example, in on-board and ground-based space communication systems.

Аннотация: A half-wave microstrip resonator design with an irregular strip conductor short-circuited to the screen by its ends has been investigated. Based on the resonances of the first two oscillatory modes of this resonator, a miniaturized second-order filter with a fractional bandwidth from 40% to 90% has been implemented, which has a wide high-frequency stopband. A prototype of the designed eight-order filter based on four dual-mode resonators with a passband center frequency of 2 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 40% has been fabricated on an alumina substrate 45.0 × 10.5 × 1.0 mm3 in size with a permittivity of ε = 9.8. The filter frequency response slopes are extremely steepness due to two attenuation poles located on the left and right sides of the passband. The experimental characteristics of the prototype are in good agreement with the data of the numerical electromagnetic simulation of the 3D model of the filter.

Аннотация: New resonator design employing a hairpin stripline conductor with a stub situated on one side of a dielectric substrate and regular stripline conductors (connected to a screen) on the other side. Eigenfrequencies of the first three oscillation modes of this resonator can be made closer to each other, so that the resonances of two modes are involved in the formation of the passband while the third mode resonance forms a minimum of the transmission coefficient adjacent to the passband. A structure comprising four resonators of this type has the characteristic of an eighth-order bandpass filter arranged in a case with 45 × 16 × 6.25-mm internal dimensions possessing f0 = 0.52 GHz central frequency with a 14% relative bandwidth. The filter is highly selective due to the attenuation poles being close to the pass band and a wide high-frequency stopband extending above a fivefold f0 value at a level of –100 dB.

Аннотация: A new miniature design of a highly selective lowpass filter based on a suspended substrate with a two-sided stripline pattern has been developed. The filter frequency response slope (cutoff attenuation rate) and stopband attenuation depth are determined by transmission zeros, the number of which is equal to the filter order. An experimental prototype of a fifth-order lowpass filter on 0.5-mm-thick alumina substrate with dielectric permittivity ε = 9.8 has been synthesized with the aid of numerical electrodynamic analysis of a three-dimensional model. The cutoff frequency of the filter passband at a –1-dB level is fc = 1.75 GHz. The stopband width at a –100-dB attenuation level reaches 4.4fc.

Аннотация: A new construction of a lowpass filter was developed based on a two-dimensional microstrip electromagnetic crystal, which had a steeper slope of the frequency response as compared to a filter consisting of a one-dimensional microstrip electromagnetic crystal. The investigated lowpass filter construction is characterized by a high workability and ease of manufacturing. Electrodynamic numerical simulation of the 3D model of the considered microstrip structure agrees well with the experiment, which allows conducting parametric synthesis of devices with the required properties using a personal computer.

Аннотация: A high-sensitivity magnetometer for simultaneous measurements of three components of a weak quasi-stationary or high-frequency magnetic-field vector was developed and investigated. Microstrip structures that are based on irregular resonators serve as the magnetometer transducers. An anisotropic thin-film magnetic structure is used as the sensing element. This structure consists of two thin magnetic films that are prepared by magnetron sputtering of a Ni75Fe25 permalloy target and separated by a silicon monoxide layer. It is demonstrated that the transducer exhibits the maximum sensitivity, when the easy magnetization axis of the film structure is orthogonal to the polarization direction of the pumping microwave magnetic field in the microstrip resonator and at an optimal value of a constant magnetic bias field and its optimal deflection from the pumping-field polarization direction which is parallel to it. The magnetometer is characterized by a wide dynamic range of measured magnetic fields, 10–10–10–4 Т, and a wide frequency range, 10–1–105 Hz. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: A bandpass filter of new design comprising dielectric layers with surface metal grids is developed and studied. Dielectric layers act as half-wave resonators, while metal grids act as mirrors with preset reflectivity and ensure optimum coupling between adjacent resonators and between the boundary resonators and free space. A test prototype of the third-order filter with a central bandpass frequency of ~12 GHz and relative bandwidth ~17% showed good agreement of theory and experiment. The proposed design can be used in making panels radio-transparent within a preset bandwidth for covering microwave antennas.

Аннотация: A miniature bandpass filter of new design with original stripline resonators on suspended substrate has been studied. The proposed filters of third to sixth order are distinguished for their high frequency-selective properties and mush smaller size in comparison to analogs. It is shown that a broad stopband extending above three-fold central bandpass frequency is determined by weak coupling of resonators at resonances of the second and third modes. A prototype sixth-order filter with a central frequency of 1 GHz, manufactured on a ceramic substrate with dielectric permittivity ε = 80, has contour dimensions of 36.6 × 4.8 × 0.5 mm3. Parametric synthesis of the filter, based on electrodynamic 3D model simulations, showed quite good agreement with the results of measurements.

Аннотация: A new monolithic design of a miniature bandpass filter for manufacture by means of multilayer printed-circuit-board technology has been developed. It is demonstrated using a fourth-order filter that multi-conductor strip resonators used in the design ensure both miniaturization and high selectivity of the device. The passband center frequency of the manufactured filter is f0 = 546 MHz, the fractional bandwidth is Δf/f0 = 25%, and the insertion loss is 0.8 dB. The filter has a wide high-frequency stopband, which extends up to a frequency of 10f0 at a level of –30 dB. The filter dimensions are 15.0 × 12.0 × 4.3 mm (0.027λ0 × 0.021λ0 × 0.007λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength in vacuum at frequency f0) and the mass is only 1.8 g. The performances of the filter and the accessibility of its design for surface mounting show that the device has great potential.

Аннотация: A microstrip bandpass filter of new design based on original resonators with an interdigital structure of conductors has been studied. The proposed filters of third to sixth order are distinguished for their high frequency-selective properties and much smaller size than analogs. It is established that a broad stop band, extending up to a sixfold central bandpass frequency, is determined by low unloaded Q of higher resonance mode and weak coupling of resonators in the pass band. It is shown for the first time that, as the spacing of interdigital stripe conductors decreases, the Q of higher resonance mode monotonically drops, while the Q value for the first operating mode remains high. A prototype fourth-order filter with a central frequency of 0.9 GHz manufactured on a ceramic substrate with dielectric permittivity ɛ = 80 has microstrip topology dimensions of 9.5 × 4.6 × 1 mm3. The electrodynamic 3D model simulations of the filter characteristics agree well with the results of measurements.

Аннотация: A microwave detector based on a self-sustained oscillator circuit is proposed as a means to investigate the real and imaginary components of the dielectric permittivity of liquid crystals in external electric and magnetic fields. Results are given for measurements of a 500 MHz oscillator frequency for two types of nematic crystals, 5CBP and MBBA. Fundamental regularities are identified in the behavior of the microwave dielectric permittivity of samples in electric and magnetic fields. It is shown that the minimum of the high-frequency dielectric loss in liquid crystals correspond to a situation in which the long axes of the molecules are oriented parallel to the direction of the microwave electric field. Аннотация: An original microstrip resonator design with a strip conductor split by a slot at one of its ends is investigated. It is demonstrated that at the optimal slot sizes, when the eigenfrequency of the second oscillation mode hits the center between the first and third oscillation modes, the resonator can work as a thirdorder bandpass filter. The structure formed from only two such resonators electromagnetically coupled by split conductor sections is a miniature six-order wideband filter with high selectivity. The test prototype of the filter with a central passband frequency of ~1.2 GHz and a passband width of ~0.75 GHz fabricated on a substrate ~(45 × 11 × 1) mm3 in size with a permittivity of 80 is characterized by minimum loss in a passband of 0.5 dB. The parametric synthesis of the filter structure was performed using electrodynamic analysis of the 3D model. The measured characteristics of the test prototype agree well with the calculated data.

Аннотация: A high-sensitivity magnetometer of weak quasi-stationary magnetic fields is developed and investigated. The magnetometer transducer is a microstrip resonator with an active medium from thin magnetic films prepared by magnetron sputtering of a Ni75Fe25 permalloy target. It is demonstrated that the transducer exhibits the maximum sensitivity not only in the optimal dc magnetic field, but also at the optimal deviation of this field from the rf pump field polarization direction. The magnetometer operates in a wide dynamic range of measured magnetic fields from 10−4 to 10−2 μT at frequencies of 10−1–105 Hz.

Аннотация: It is shown that for an optimal substrate thickness ALD technology will be promising for IF bandpass filter designing. A two-conductor stripline ALD resonator with central frequency 200 MHz will have Q-factor 53 with total length 3.7 mm (0.0025λg) and the frequency separation of the first and the second oscillation modes up to 59. Two bandpass filters for VHF and UHF designed and fabricated for commercial application display good agreement between the simulation and the experiment. A 3-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 255 MHz and lateral size 15.8×3.2 mm2 has stopband width 13.5f0 , and a 6-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 1250 MHz and lateral size 4.4×5.1 mm2 has stopband width 9.4f0.

Аннотация: An ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of a novel high-pass filter (HPF) and a low-pass filter (LPF) on suspended substrates with a two-sided pattern of strip conductor has been investigated. The high selectivity of the HPF is ensured by the transmission zeros near the passband, the number of which is equal to the filter order. A second-order HPF has been designed on a 0.5-mm-thick substrate with a permittivity of ε = 9.8 using the numerical electrodynamic analysis of a 3D model of the filter. The experimental HPF prototype has a cutoff frequency of fb = 0.25 GHz at a level of –3 dB and a passband that extends to 5 GHz. The ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of the LPF and the designed HPF has a fractional bandwidth of Δf/f0 = 150% with a central frequency of f0 = 1 GHz. It has the broad and deep high-frequency stopband, which extends to a frequency of 7.8f0 at a suppression level of –100 dB.

Аннотация: Three-layer iron-rich Fe3+xSi1-x/Ge/Fe3+xSi1-x (0.2 < x < 0.64) heterostructures on a Si(111) surface with Ge thicknesses of 4 nm and 7 nm were grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Systematic studies of the structural and morphological properties of the synthesized samples have shown that an increase in the Ge thickness causes a prolonged atomic diffusion through the interfaces, which significantly increases the lattice misfits in the Ge/Fe3+xSi1-x heterosystem due to the incorporation of Ge atoms into the Fe3+xSi1-x bottom layer. The resultant lowering of the total free energy caused by the development of the surface roughness results in a transition from an epitaxial to a polycrystalline growth of the upper Fe3+xSi1-x. The average lattice distortion and residual stress of the upper Fe3+xSi1-x were determined by electron diffraction and theoretical calculations to be equivalent to 0.2 GPa for the upper epitaxial layer with a volume misfit of -0.63% compared with a undistorted counterpart. The volume misfit follows the resultant interatomic misfit of |0.42|% with the bottom Ge layer, independently determined by atomic force microscopy. The variation in structural order and morphology significantly changes the magnetic properties of the upper Fe3+xSi1-x layer and leads to a subtle effect on the transport properties of the Ge layer. Both hysteresis loops and FMR spectra differ for the structures with 4 nm and 7 nm Ge layers. The FMR spectra exhibit two distinct absorption lines corresponding to two layers of ferromagnetic Fe3+xSi1-x films. At the same time, a third FMR line appears in the sample with the thicker Ge. The angular dependences of the resonance field of the FMR spectra measured in the plane of the film have a pronounced easy-axis type anisotropy, as well as an anisotropy corresponding to the cubic crystal symmetry of Fe3+xSi1-x, which implies the epitaxial orientation relationship of Fe3+xSi1-x (111)[0-11] || Ge(111)[1-10] || Fe3+xSi1-x (111)[0-11] || Si(111)[1-10]. Calculated from ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) data saturation magnetization exceeds 1000 kA/m. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of a Ge layer with thicknesses of 4 nm and 7 nm is of semiconducting type, which is, however, determined by different transport mechanisms.
