Аннотация: Structures and phase transitions (PT's) in pseudohexagonal crystals A2CX4 and ALiCX4 related to α-K2SO4 prototype (G 0) are analyzed on the basis of statistical models with four and twelve orientational states for tetrahedral CX4-groups in G 0. It is shown that structures of the β-K2SO4 and glaserite types appearing on the first stage of ordering G 0 → G 1 in A2CX4 crystals as well as structures of high KLiSO4 and CsLiSO4 in ALiCX4 crystals are the partially disordered ones. Possible ways of their further ordering are analyzed. Structures of other relatives of G 0 are discussed.

Аннотация: Cs//2CdI//4 crystals were grown from the melt (A) and from water solution (B). Optic, dielectric, X-ray, and calorimetric investigations were carried out. Crystal A shows three phase transitions at 332. 3, 259. 6, and 183. 4 K with the following sequence of phases: commensurate orthorhombic of beta -K//2SO//4 type ( alpha //0 equals 1. 074, b//0 equals 0. 8458, c equals 1. 4852 nm) B ARR LR incommensurate B ARR LR monoclinic ferroelastic (P2//1/n) B ARR LR triclinic ferroelastic (P1 OVER BAR ). The B-crystal belongs to monoclinic symmetry (P2//1/m) and undergoes transformation into the orthorhombic phase of beta -K//2SO//4 type at 420 K.

Аннотация: For the example of ferroelectrics and ferroelastics, the results of precision structural investigations performed above and below the phase-transition point are discussed. The structural features of some crystals with disproportionate phases are considered. Numerous examples have shown that anomalously high thermal factors of certain atoms may indicate potential instability of the structure of the given crystal and thereby also a tendency to distortion with change in thermodynamic conditions. This must be taken into account in further structural work.

Аннотация: The cubic phase occurs above 423 K. The structure of the lower symmetry cristobalite framework is presented. The Fedorov group is I111/b with a 10.018, b 11.272, c 5.702 A and gamma = 125.80o; Z = 4. At least one of the phase transitions results from ordering of Mo(W)O4 tetrahedra. Аннотация: A study was made of the temperature dependences of the integrated intensities of the 006 and 021 x-ray reflections, deviation of the angle gamma from 90 degree , NMR of **7Li, specific heat c//p, thermal expansion, and permittivity. Moreover, the effects of hydrostatic pressure on the phase transition were studied. It was definitely established that a ferroelastic phase transition of the second kind occurs at 202. 07 degree K and this transition does not alter the number of atoms in a unit cell.
