Аннотация: Magnetic microspheres with nonmagnetic acrylic glass core were fabricated using electroless deposition. There are favorable conditions for magnetic flux closure within each particle. As a result, the dipole-dipole interaction in the powder of such microspheres is reduced drastically. This is the key difference between powders of magnetic microspheres and powders of full magnetic spherical particles witch behavior is significantly affected by the dipole-dipole interaction. The magnetic hysteresis in the cobalt microspheres with nonmagnetic core is significantly large then in the full cobalt particles produced using the same technique.

Аннотация: Features of the formation of periodic 2D and 3D opal-like structures depending on the conditions of deposition have been investigated in this work. The subject of the experiments is aqueous dispersions of poly(methyl methacrylate) submicron particles with a narrow size distribution. The particles are precipitated by sedimentation, centrifugation, and the meniscus method. The samples are studied using electron microscopes. Significant morphological differences in periodic structures obtained by various methods are found. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: Series of high-quality spherical poly(methyl methacrylate) particles with a polydispersity less than 5% are prepared by chain-growth emulsifier-free controlled radical emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate in water. The average diameters in the series varied from 237 nm to 447 nm. The physico-chemical properties of obtained submicrospheres can be varied to make them more stable and stronger by a modified classical synthesis technology whereby 4-10 vol.% of dispersion medium is replaced by acetone. 2D and 3D photonic crystal structures, opals, are prepared from poly(methyl methacrylate) submicrospheres. The crystal structure of the opals is studied by IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. According to the spectroscopic data, the poly(methyl methacrylate) particles contain significant amounts of water whose evaporation leads to the shrinkage of the spheres. The stereoregularity of the synthesized polymer is studied, the glass-transition temperatures of obtained samples are determined.

Аннотация: Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging results are presented for the comparative study of sedimentation of the polymethylmethacrylate colloidal suspensions with spherical particle diameters of 475, 350 and 255 nm. The time evolution of the particle volume fraction in the sedimenting system, velocity of the fluid/suspension interface, interface broadening, and sediment growth velocity are measured against the system concentration as well as the container geometry. Using the experimental data the hindered settling function is evaluated. The influence of the container geometry on the parameters defining the hindered settling function in different approaches is evaluated for the first time. The limiting value of the particle diameter is estimated at which the container geometry has no impact any longer. This effect can be explained by the microscale structure persisting at low Peclet numbers. In addition, the influence of the container geometry on interface broadening and sediment formation for different particle diameters and volume fractions is studied. Spontaneous sediment packing induced by a modified container geometry has been found. NMR imaging has proven to be a highly efficient research tool for studying sedimentation at low Peclet numbers.

Аннотация: The article was prepared based on the materials of the report at the first All-Russian scientific conference with international participation "YENISEI PHOTONICS – 2020". Photonic crystals are structures that have a spatial architecture with a periodically changing complex dielectric function at scales comparable to the wavelengths of light in the visible frequency range. The purpose of this study is to obtain three-dimensional photonic crystals by self-assembly from submicron spherical monodisperse particles of polymethylmethacrylate in dispersion media with different viscosities.Фотонные кристаллы — это структуры, которые имеют пространственную архитектуру с периодически изменяющейся сложной диэлектрической функцией в масштабах, сопоставимых с длинами волн света в видимом диапазоне частот. Целью данной работы является получение трёхмерных фотонных кристаллов путём самосборки из субмикронных сферических монодисперсных частиц полиметилметакрилата в дисперсных средах с различной вязкостью.

Аннотация: Morphological parameters, reflection spectra, IR absorption spectra, and glass transition temperatures of submicron-sized spheres of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) formed in a water-acetone dispersion medium were studied in comparison with similar spheres obtained in distilled water. Dependence of a shrinkage degree of the submicrospheres on the concentration of acetone in water is studied. Features of the formation of periodic structures based on the water-acetone dispersions of PMMA in four different ways are considered. 2D (photonic crystal films) and 3D (artificial and inverse opals) resonance structures were obtained.

Аннотация: A new method of advanced complex processing of ores containing rare-earth elements (REE) is proposed to obtain porous X-ray amorphous aluminosilicate material with a stable chemical composition which concentrates oxides of rare-earth metals (REM). The ferromanganese oxide ores of Chuktukon deposit (Krasnoyarsk Region, RF) were used for the experiment. The obtained aluminosilicate material is appropriate for treatment with 5 - 15% solutions of mineral acids to leach REM. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: The molecular-dynamics method has been used to determine the conformational states of poly(methyl methacrylate) chains in a medium composed of water and a monomer (methyl methacrylate). Experimentally detected spherical particles resulting from polymerization have been found to take the form of droplet-type aggregates containing several chains, with the water and monomer concentrations in the aggregates differing from those in the dispersion medium. It has been shown that the methyl methacrylate concentration in an initial reaction mixture of about 20% is optimal for the formation of spherical droplet-type aggregates. It has been experimentally established that spherical poly(methyl methacrylate) particles with a narrow size distribution are formed at a methyl methacrylate concentration of ≈23%.
