Аннотация: Controlled self-assembly of plasmonic photonic nanostructures provides a cost-effective and efficient methodology to expand plasmonic photonic nano-platforms with unique, tunable, and coupled optical characteristics. Keeping advantages and challenges in view, this review highlights contemporary advancements towards the development of self-assembly of a plasmonic photonic nanostructure using a colloidal solution and a self-assembly modeling technique along with exploring novel optical properties and associated prospects. The potential applications of self-assembled plasmonic photonic nano-systems to investigate next-generation optoelectronic devices, the need to reduce and increase scaling up aspects, and improve the performance, are also covered briefly in the review. The need of considerable efforts for the design and development towards establishing novel cost-effective methods to fabricate controlled self-assembled smart nano-plasmonic platforms is also highlighted in this mini-review. Key confronting issues that precisely limit the self-assemblies of photonic nanostructures and desired integration with other device components, mainly including uniformity within miniaturized devices are also discussed. This review will serve as a guideline and platform to plan advanced research in developing self-assembled plasmonic photonic nano-systems to investigate smart functional optical devices.

Dipole-dipole interaction -- Laser field -- Brownian dynamics -- Self-assembly of nanostructures
Аннотация: The process of aggregation of two colloidal quantum dots in the field of quasiresonant laser radiation is investigated via computer simulation. The cases of either completely deterministic movement of particles or the movement with the account for random forces are considered. The conditions of pair formation are determined in dependence on initial interparticle distance, on laser wavelength, and on their initial orientation with respect to polarization plane of laser radiation. It is shown that despite velocity of thermal motion dominates over the velocity of directional diffusion of quantum dots, the account for random forces weakly influences on the probability of pair formation, the latter being close to results obtained in the deterministic case. The reason for this weak influence of Brownian movement is the resonant increase of electrodynamics attraction force during certain time interval within the laser pulse.

Аннотация: Dynamical model of self-assembly of nanoparticles in the field of laser radiation is developed and applied to the investigation of the possibility of the assembly of variously shaped structures comprised of the particles. Specifically, the computer model of the process of formation of structures with pre-defined geometry from a set of three initially isolated nanoparticles. The possibility of control of the geometry of the formed structure via the choice of the wavelength of external field.

Dipole-dipole interaction -- Laser field -- Brownian dynamics -- Self-assembly of nanostructures -- Colloidal crystals
Аннотация: Self-assembly of nanoparticles under the action of laser field can be an universal method for the formation of nanostructures with specific properties for application in sensorics and nanophotonics. For prognosis of the self-assembly processes, the model of movement of an ensemble of nanoparticles in a viscous media under the action of laser radiation with the account for interaction of laser-induced polarizations and Brownian dynamics is developed. This model is applied to the investigation of the self-assembly process of a triple of nanoparticles into three-particle structure with a predetermined geometry. Two specific cases of formation of nanostructure from a preliminarily formed pair of particles are studied: either for the pair fixed in space or from the unfixed pair of nanoparticles. The geometry of resulting nanostructures is shown to be determined by the polarization direction of laser radiation and the laser wavelength. Under proper choice of these parameters the formation of structures is shown to be highly efficient. E. g., maximum probability of structures formation is as hig as 36–46% per single laser pulse of 10 ns duration. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: Self-assembly remains one of the simplest and cheapest methods of nanostructuring. And the dependence of the properties of the objects obtained, not only on their composition, but also on the form, brings to the fore the question of developing methods for forming structures of a predetermined form and searching for system parameters in which the formation of a structure becomes possible. This paper is devoted to modeling the process of self-assembly of a multiparticle nanostructure of a predetermined shape in the field of laser radiation.

Аннотация: Backward electromagnetic waves are extraordinary waves with contra-directed phase velocity and energy flux. Unusual properties of the coherent nonlinear optical coupling of the phase-matched ordinary and backward electromagnetic waves with contra-directed energy fluxes are described that enable greatly-enhanced frequency and propagation direction conversion, parametrical amplification, as well as control of shape of the light pulses. Extraordinary transient processes that emerge in such metamaterials in pulsed regimes are described. The results of the numerical simulation of particular plasmonic metamaterials with hyperbolic dispersion are presented, which prove the possibility to match phases of such coupled guided ordinary and backward electromagnetic waves. Particular properties of the outlined processes in the proposed metamaterial are demonstrated through numerical simulations. Potential applications include ultra-miniature amplifiers, frequency changing reflectors, modulators, pulse shapers, and remotely actuated sensors.

Аннотация: The method of formation of nanostructures consisting of three particles in the field of quasiresonant laser radiation is considered. To obtain structures, two approaches were used: a third particle is added to a pre-formed particlespair at a certain angle; the necessary structure is formed from three initially isolated particles. Numerically shown that it is possibleto assemble structures of line and pyramid using both previously mentioned approaches.
