Аннотация: Infrared absorption spectra of the bismuth pyrostannate Bi2(Sn0.95Cr0.05)2O7 were investigated in the frequency range 350-1100 cm-1 at temperatures of 110-525 K. Four frequency regions with split absorption lines are distinguished. Softening of frequencies at the structural transitions was observed. The maxima of permittivity measured in the frequency range 1-200 kHz at temperatures 100-400 K were determined. It was found that the magnetic susceptibility changes its sign in the low-temperature region. The correlation between anomalies in the magnetic susceptibility, permittivity, and absorption line intensity was established. Softening of frequencies is explained by the variation in the coefficient of thermal expansion of the lattice. The temperature behavior of permittivity is described using the Debye model. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Аннотация: The correlation of the electrical, magnetic, and structural properties of Bi2(Sn1 − xCrx)2O7 solid solutions has been investigated for two compositions with x = 0.05 and 0.1. The temperatures of structural phase transitions and anomalies of the electrical resistance in the vicinity of these transitions at temperatures in the range 300 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K have been determined using differential scanning calorimetry. It has been found that the thermoelectric power changes sign upon the polymorphic transition. The paramagnetic Curie temperature and the chromium-ion spin have been found from the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the range 4 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K and from the field dependence of the magnetic moment in magnetic fields of up to 6 T.

Аннотация: The Bi2Sn2O7 compound existing simultaneously in two polymorphic modifications, namely, orthorhombic and cubic, has been synthesized for the first time by solid-phase synthesis. The dielectric and electrical properties of the compound have been studied in the temperature range 100 K ˂ T ˂ 500 K. Anomalies in the temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity and the permittivity (imaginary and real parts) have been found at both low and high temperatures. These features are explained in terms of the model of martensitic phase transitions.

Аннотация: The electrical characteristics including the electrical resistance, impedance, I–V characteristics, capacitance, dissipation factor, and thermoelectric power of the Bi2Sn2-хFeхO7 (х = 0.1, 0.2) stannates have been investigated in the temperature range of 100–600 K at frequencies of 102–106 Hz. The paramagnetic contribution of electrons to the dynamic magnetic susceptibility has been established. The conductivity mechanism of the compounds has been found from the I–V characteristics and the change in the carrier sign has been determined from the thermoelectric power. The hysteresis of the I–V curves, charge transfer currents and polarization current have been observed in the Bi2Sn1·8Fe0·2O7 compound. A nonlinear field dependence of the polarization in the orthorhombic phase has been found. The correlation between the obtained characteristics and the phase structure transitions has been established. Two relaxation channels and activation energy have been found using the Debye model. The hysteretic I–V characteristics have been explained using a model of the electronic structure and the dipole and migration polarization.

Аннотация: To establish the existence of dipole glass in the chromium-substituted bismuth pyrostannate solid solutions, the frequency and temperature dependences of the permittivity have been measured in the temperature range of 300–750 K. The field and dynamic dependences of polarization in the temperature range of 80–550 K have been determined. Using the Raman scattering spectra, the absence of inversion center has been established. The maximum of electrical resistance has been found in the vicinity of the dipole moment freezing point. The carrier type has been determined from the thermopower data. The polarization relaxation is shown to be nonexponential. The experimental data are explained within the model of dipole glass in the α- phase and the model of charged crystalline domain walls with the electron-polarization relaxation mechanism above the α–β structural transition.

Аннотация: The electrical properties of the Ag0.01Mn0.99S and Tm0.01Mn0.99S semiconductor compounds and the Hall effect in them have been investigated in the temperature range of 80-400 K in a magnetic field of 12 kOe. Using the I-V characteristics, the conductivity mechanism depending on the doping type and concentration has been established. Upon substitution of silver for manganese, the Mott-type conductivity has been found, while substitution of thulium causes the ohmic conductivity. The mobility and type of carriers have been determined from the Hall constant data.

Аннотация: The single crystals Cu1 xNixB2O4 with x ¼ 0:002; 0.005; 0.009; 0.014 were grown by spontaneous crystallization and the magnetic properties of these crystals have been studied. The strong influence of substitution on the value of critical fields H?c at which the modulated states transform into a weak ferromagnetic one was observed in the temperature range 9.5–20 K. The essential change of temperature dependence of a paramagnetic susceptibility w for Ni-doped samples in comparison with pure CuB2O4 was revealed. The modulated state was not observed in the temperature range 9.5–20 K for Ni content more than x ¼ 0:009.

Аннотация: Polycrystalline samples of Bi2Sn2O7 have been synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction method. According to the X-ray powder diffraction research, our sample co-existing of two polymorphs phases: cubic and rhombic, concurrently. The real dielectric permeability Re (ε) monotonic grows versus temperature and the imaginary dielectric permeability Im (ε) nonmonotonic is increased at the heating. There are maxima at Т=450 K on both temperature dependences Im (ε) and Re (ε) reveal. Anomalies in the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity at temperatures are found and to be correlated with the α → β structural phase transition temperature.

Аннотация: Semiconductor BiFe0.95Co0.05O3 thin-film compounds have been synthesized by a burst technique. The film surface morphology and the effect of electronic doping via substitution of cobalt ions for trivalent iron on the optical, magnetic, and kinetic properties have been investigated in the temperature range of 77-600 K in magnetic fields of up to 12 kOe. Two electron relaxation channels have been found in the impedance spectrum in the frequency range of 0.1-1000 kHz. The negative magnetoresistance in the anomalous magnetization region and the maximum magnetoimpedance in the vicinity of the surface phase transition have been established. Using the Hall measurements, carrier types dominating in the magnetoresistance and magnetoimpedance effects have been determined. The magnetization anomalies have been explained in the model of superparamagnetic clusters and the magnetoresistance, by the carrier scattering by spin fluctuations.

Аннотация: Cation-substituted solid solutions YbxMn1-xS were prepared by the melt method from polycristalline sulfide powders. The synthesized samples are antiferromagnetic semiconductors and, according to the results of X-ray structural analysis, have an FCC structure of the NaCl type. Structural, electrical, optical, and acoustic properties of the chalcogenide system YbxMn1-xS were studied in the temperature range 80 - 500 K. The effect of variable valence elements on the electronic structure of cationic substitution of manganese sulfide has been studied. The change in the electronic structure in the YbxMn1-xS system occurs due to the electron-phonon interaction. Samples with variable valence have anomalous compressibility, which is confirmed by the data on the thermal expansion coefficient and the change in the attenuation coefficient. As a result of inelastic interaction with d- electrons, the density of states at the Fermi level changes, this is reflected in the temperature dependence of the conductivity. The positions of the f-level and two electronic transitions were determined from the IR spectra. A zone of temperatures and concentrations was found, where a correlation of structural, electrical, optical and acoustic properties is observed. To explain the experimantal results, the electronic structure of the semiconductor is considered and a model is proposed that qualitatively describes the experiment.
Методом расплава из поликристаллических порошков сульфидов приготовлены катион замещенные твердые растворы YbxMn1-xS. Синтезированные образцы являются антиферромагнитными полупроводниками и согласно результатам рентгеноструктурного анализа имеют ГЦК структуру типа NaCl. Проведены исследования структурных, электрических, оптических и акустических свойств халькогенидной системы YbxMn1-xS в интервале температур 80 - 500 К. Исследовано влияние на электронную структуру элементов переменной валентности при катионном замещении сульфида марганца. Изменение электронной структуры в системе YbxMn1-xS происходит за счет электрон-фононного взаимодействия. Образцы с переменной валентностью обладают аномальной сжимаемостью, что подтверждается данными коэффициента теплового расширения и изменением коэффициента затухания. В результате неупругого взаимодействия с d-электронами меняется плотность состояний на уровне Ферми, что отражается на температурной зависимости проводимости. Из ИК спектров определены положения f-уровня и два электронных перехода. Обнаружена область температур и концентраций, где наблюдается корреляция структурных, электрических, оптических и акустических свойств. Для объяснения экспериментальных результатов рассмотрена электронная структура полупроводника и предложена модель, качественно описывающая эксперимент.

Аннотация: The ferroelectric properties of bismuth pyrostannate Bi2(Sn0.85Cr0.15)2O7 in the high-temperature region are established. The linear thermal expansion coefficient, electrical resistance, impedance, I−V characteristics, capacitance, loss-angle tangent, charge, and thermopower of the investigated material are measured in the temperature range of 300−700 K at frequencies of 102−106 Hz. Anomalies of the thermal expansion coefficient and hodograph spectrum variation in the region of polymorphic phase transitions are observed. The high resistance and change of the hopping conductivity for the tunnel-emission are found. The hysteresis in the electric field dependence of polarization is established. The change in the thermopower sign with temperature is revealed. The obtained experimental data are explained in the framework of the model of migration polarization by charged chromium ions.

Аннотация: A new bismuth pyrostannate-based composite Bi2(Sn0.7Fe0.3)2O7-x/Bi2Fe4O9 (BSFO/BFO) has been obtained by the solid-state synthesis. Temperature dependences of the magnetic hysteresis and remanent magnetization and the nonlinear field dependence of the magnetization for the Bi2Fe4O9 antiferromagnet have been established. A temperature of the formation of canted sublattices in the antiferromagnet with the occurrence of a spontaneous moment in mullite has been determined. The mechanism of the electric polarization hysteresis and the temperature dependence of the remanent polarization have been established. It has been shown, that, below the Néel temperature, the dipole polarization is induced by a lone electron pair of bismuth ions. At T > TN, the migration polarization is caused by the charge carrier density at the chemical potential. A significant increase in the remanent magnetization of mullite in the bismuth pyrostannate matrix with oxygen vacancies over a value typical of polycrystalline mullite has been established. Remanent magnetization is explained in terms of ferron model.

Аннотация: The effect of the size of Bi2Fe4O9 and BiFeO3 nanoparticles on the magnetoelectric interaction in the Bi2Fe4O9/BiFeO3 composite with a percentage ratio of 67/33 has been studied. The electrostriction and electric polarization on electric and magnetic field in wide temperature range has been measured. The hysteresis of the polarization and I?V characteristics has been found. Temperature ranges with activation and hopping types of conductivity have been found. The mechanism of electric polarization and the crossover temperature from dipole polarization to migration polarization at 260 K have been established. Linear and quadratic contributions to the magnetoelectric effect have been found. Below 120 K the linear contribution is an order of magnitude greater than the quadratic contribution and above 240 K the quadratic contribution to the ME effect prevails. Models have been proposed to explain the enhancement of the magnetoelectric effect as a result of the migration polarization in mullite and linear magnetoelectric effect in bismuth ferrite. The correlation of temperatures of the extremum of the temperature coefficient of the electrical resistance and the magnetic phase transition in mullite at 260 K indicates a polaron-type conductivity and a strong electron?phonon interaction. A change in the sign of the electrostriction coefficient upon heating and the compression temperature of the composite in an electric field was found.

Аннотация: The article studies effect of nonstoichiometric substitution of the tin ions by chromium and manganese ions on the dielectric and electrical properties of bismuth pyrostannate. The research performs measurements of the current-voltage characteristics, capacitance and tangent of the dielectric loss angle in the temperature range from 300 to 800 K; it finds a qualitative difference in the temperature behavior of the permittivity of bismuth pyrostannate with chromium and manganese ions. A change in the type of conductivity from hopping to tunneling emission is established. The change in the activation energy as a function of the ion radius is found.

Аннотация: The composite compound Bi2(Sn0.7Fe0.3)2O7/Bi2Fe4O9 in the ratio 91/9% was synthesized by the solid-phase reaction method. The current-voltage characteristics were studied in the temperature range 800–400 K. The hysteresis of the current-voltage characteristics was found. The magnetoelectric interaction and thermoelectric power have been studied. The temperatures of predominance of the even and linear functions of the magnetoelectric effect are established. The sign change of the thermopower has been found.
