Аннотация: Crystals of a new CoBO3 compound were synthesized from a solution in melt. According to the X-ray diffraction data, CoBO3 crystallizes in the calcite structure with lattice parameters a(H) = 4.631 +/- 0.005, c(H) = 14.51 +/- 0.01 Angstrom. Measurements on SQUID and vibrating-coil magnetometers suggested that CoBO3 is a magnetically ordered crystal with a saturation magnetization of 50 emu/g in the basal plane at 4.2 K and a Neel temperature of 53 K. Аннотация: Single crystals of the new compound Cu5Bi2B4O14 are grown and its structural, magnetic, and resonant properties are investigated for the first time. It is found that the Cu5Bi2B4O14 crystal synthesized has a triclinic symmetry with space group P (1) over bar and the unit cell parameters a = 10.132 Angstrom, b = 9.385 Angstrom, c = 3.458 Angstrom, alpha = 105.443degrees, beta = 97.405degrees, gamma = 107.784degrees, and Z = 1. At a temperature of 24.5 K, the crystal undergoes a magnetic phase transition to the magnetically ordered state. The assumption is made that the ferrimagnetic structure of the Cu5Bi2B4O14 crystal consists of two ferromagnetic sublattices coupled through the antiferromagnetic exchange interaction. The unit cell of the crystal contains five copper ions, of which one ion belongs to the first sublattice and the other four ions form the second sublattice. Analysis of the resonant and magnetic static properties demonstrates that the Cu5Bi2B4O14 crystal exhibits an easy-axis magnetic anisotropy. The direction of the easy axis coincides with the c axis of the crystal, whereas the a and b axes are the hard magnetic axes with saturation fields approximately equal to 25 and 10 kOe, respectively. Аннотация: We have performed a complex investigation of the structure and the magnetic and electrical properties of a warwickite single crystal with the composition Fe1.91V0.09BO4 . The results of Mossbauer measurements at T = 300 K indicate that there exist "localized" (Fe2+, Fe3+) and "delocalized" (Fe2.5+) states distributed over two crystallographically nonequivalent positions. The results of magnetic measurements show that warwickite is a P-type ferrimagnet below T = 130 K. The material exhibits hopping conductivity involving strongly interacting electrons. The experimental data are analyzed in comparison to the properties of the initial (unsubstituted) Fe2BO4 warwickite. The entire body of data on the electric conductivity and magnetization are interpreted on a qualitative basis. (C) 2003 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: Synthesis of a complex formed by ciprofloxacin (cfH) and copper(II) chloride is described; its crystal structure is reported and analyzed in comparison to related compounds. The obtained compound (ctH(3))CuCl4 center dot H2O (cfH(3)(2+) - double protonated cfH molecule) crystallizes as platelets of P2(1)/c symmetry having the unit cell parameters a = 13.491 (1) angstrom, b = 11.0459(7) angstrom, c = 16.299(1) angstrom; beta = 1.392(7)degrees. Carbonyl oxygen O(1) is protonated, and hydrogen atom combined with it forms an intramolecular hydrogen bond with carboxylic O(2) oxygen (O(1) center dot center dot center dot O(2) = 2.642(5) angstrom). Terminal nitrogen atom N(3) of the piperazinyl group is also protonated, and two its hydrogen atoms participate in hydrogen bonds of N-H center dot center dot center dot Cl type. The structure also has hydrogen bonds O-H center dot center dot center dot O, O-H... Cl with the participation of water molecules which occupy hydrophilic channels. Molecular ions cfH(3)(2+), make couples with intrapair pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions.

Аннотация: The heat capacity, T-p phase diagrams, and unit cell parameters of cryolite (NH4)(3)Ti(O-2)F-5 were studied over a wide temperature range. A phase transition was found near 226 K, and its thermodynamic characteristics and their dependence on the crystallization conditions were determined. The coordinates and thermal parameters of atoms in the Fm3m phase were refined. An analysis of the electron density distribution and the transition entropy showed that the mechanism of the structural transition involves, above all, rotation of the Ti(O-2)F-5 octahedra. Possible models of disordering of tetrahedral ammonium groups are considered.

Аннотация: Unique properties of the potassium–aluminum–boron glasses doped with low concentrations of MnO and Fe2O3 to make them magnetically ordered and optically transparent in the IR and visible ranges are due to the formation of nanoparticles of a cubic ferrite. Assembling and properties of nanosized ferrite particles in the glasses have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, differential dissolution analysis, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy, magnetic measurements, and magnetooptical Faraday effect. It was shown that the ferrite particles vary highly in size, shape, stoichiometry, structural perfection, and space distribution depending on the preparation conditions. A correlation between the characteristics of nanostructured ferrite particles and magnetic properties of glasses has been established.

Аннотация: Single crystals of cobalt oxyborate Co3BO5 are synthesized. The results of investigations into the structural, magnetic, and electrical properties are reported. It is found that Co3BO5 crystals exhibit two magnetic anomalies at T (1) = 17 K and T (2) = 45 K. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity is investigated. Deviations both from the activation law of variation in the electrical resistance and from the Mott variable-range hopping conduction are revealed.
