Аннотация: Solid-phase reactions taking place in Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) and Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) film systems under conditions of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) are investigated. In both systems, SHS products exhibit the single CoAl superstructure, which epitaxially grows on the MgO(001) surface in the Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) structures and has a fine-dispersed disordered structure in the Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) films. It appears that the difference in the reagent structure has an effect on the energy of activation but does not change the SHS initiation temperature and the temperature at which the initial phase involved in the reaction products nucleates. It is shown that the SHS initiation temperature in the Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) and Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) systems coincides with the temperature of CoAl superstructure ordering. Аннотация: For the first time the problem of determining real composition and structure of manganese ferrite nanoparticles dispersed borate glasses is solved using differentiating dissolution and high-resolution X-ray electron microscopy techniques. For the first time the nanosize effect of aluminum incorporation in manganese ferrite composition is experimentally shown, thus directly confirming the hypothesis of Al participation in exchange interaction between paramagnetic Fe and Mn ions as diamagnetic diluter.

Аннотация: The optical absorption and luminescence spectra of single crystals of yttrium aluminum borate YAl3(BO3)(4) doped with manganese ions are measured. It is established that the optical absorption spectra of yttrium aluminum borate single crystals doped with manganese ions are determined primarily by the contribution from the Mn4+ ions. The luminescence spectra of the YAl3(BO3)(4) single crystals doped with manganese exhibit narrow lines attributed to the Mn4+ ions and an extended multiband structure which is associated primarily with the contribution from the Mn2+ ions.

Аннотация: The Zeeman effect in the F-7(6) - D-5(4) absorption band of the Tb3+ ion in the paramagnetic garnets Tb3Ga5O12 and Tb3Al5O12 was Studied. The field dependences of the Zeeman splitting of some absorption lines arc found to exhibit unusual behavior: as the magnetic field increases, the hand splitting decreases rather than increases. Symmetry analysis relates these lines to 4f - 4f electron transitions of the doublet-quasi-doublet or quasi-doublet-doublet type, for which the field dependences of the splitting differ radically from the well-known field dependences of the Zeeman splitting for quasi-doublet-quasi-doublet or quasi-doublet-singlet transitions in a longitudinal magnetic field.

Аннотация: Single crystals of yttrium aluminum borate YAl3 (BO3)(4) doped with manganese ions are studied using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is shown that manganese ions introduced at low concentrations into the sample predominantly occupy yttrium ion sites in the crystal structure. The shape of the electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum unambiguously indicates that the valence of manganese ions in this case is equal to 2+. The parameters of the spin Hamiltonian of Mn2+, ions in the YAl3(BO3)(4) matrix are determined at room temperature. The magnitude and sign of the fine structure parameter D allow the conclusion that the YAl3(BO3)(4) single crystals doped with manganese ions have a strong crystal field at the yttrium ion sites and L easy-axis anisotropy.

Аннотация: High-optical-quality single crystals of the TmAl3(BO3)(4) compound were synthesized from a solution in the melt. The absorption spectra in the sigma and pi polarizations for the H-3(6) - F-3(4), H-3(6) - H-3(5), H-3(6) - H-3(4), H-3(6) - F-3(3), H-3(6) - F-3(2), H-3(6) - (1)G(4), and H-3(6) - D-1(2) transitions in the Tm3+ ion were recorded at room temperature. The transition intensities were analyzed in the framework of the Judd-Ofelt theory generalized to the case of anisotropic crystals, and the following parameters of the theory were obtained: Omega(2) = 6.14 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega(4) = 3.09 x 10(-20) cm(2), and Omega(6) = 2.04 x 10(-20) cm(2). The lifetimes and the branching ratios were determined for all possible transitions.

Аннотация: The state of iron in nanoparticles prepared by impregnating silica gel and aluminum oxide with iron(II) sulfate solutions has been investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy. It has been revealed that the state of iron depends on the nature of the support. Iron(III) hydroxysulfate and iron(III) oxysulfate nanoparticles are formed on the surface of silica gel, and iron oxide nanoparticles are formed on the surface of aluminum oxide. An increase in the concentration of iron ions or in the size of iron-containing particles leads to hydration of the nanoparticle surface. The calcination of the samples results in the formation of E -Fe2O3 oxide in a strongly disordered or amorphous state in iron-containing particles on the surface of silica gel.

Аннотация: A comparative study was performed of the low-temperature high-resolution absorption spectra of the Yb3+ probe in R1−xYbxAl3(BO3)4 (R = Y, Tm, Lu) crystals grown by flux technique independently in four different laboratories using different solvents. We show that the incorporation of solvent components into the crystal in the course of crystallization gives rise to spectral satellites of the Yb3+ 0(2F7/2) → 0′(2F5/2) absorption lines and assign particular satellites to the Yb3+ centers near the bismuth and molybdenum impurities (which decrease the transparency of YAB in the UV spectral range). We suggest this spectroscopic method for a rapid analysis of the quality of UV laser crystals and for improvement of growth technologies.
