Аннотация: Исследованы структурные, микроструктурные и магнитные характеристики алюмомарганцевого оксида в соотношении Mn : Al = 1: 1 в хорошо окристаллизованном и наногетерогенном состояниях, получаемого при различных условиях температурной обработки и разном парциальном давлении кислорода. Определены состав и катионное распределение ионов марганца и алюминия в позициях шпинели. Показано, что исследованное соединение является ферримагнетиком с точкой Кюри TC~ 26 K. Работа выполнена при частичной поддержке гранта РФФИ N 12-03-90839-мол\_рф\_нр, программы Министерства образования и науки РФ (соглашение N 8429).

Аннотация: The Zeeman effect in the F-7(6) - D-5(4) absorption band of the Tb3+ ion in the paramagnetic garnets Tb3Ga5O12 and Tb3Al5O12 was Studied. The field dependences of the Zeeman splitting of some absorption lines arc found to exhibit unusual behavior: as the magnetic field increases, the hand splitting decreases rather than increases. Symmetry analysis relates these lines to 4f - 4f electron transitions of the doublet-quasi-doublet or quasi-doublet-doublet type, for which the field dependences of the splitting differ radically from the well-known field dependences of the Zeeman splitting for quasi-doublet-quasi-doublet or quasi-doublet-singlet transitions in a longitudinal magnetic field.

Аннотация: We demonstrate the possibility of using transparent conducting oxides [aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO), gallium-doped zinc oxide (GZO), indium tin oxide (ITO)] to form Tamm plasmon polaritons in the near-infrared spectral range where the permittivity of oxides is near zero. The spectral properties of the structures are investigated in the framework of the temporal coupled-mode theory and confirmed by the transfer matrix method. It is found that in the critical coupling conditions, the maximal Q-factor of a Tamm plasmon polariton is achieved when a photonic crystal is conjugated with the AZO film, while at the conjugation with the ITO films, the broadest spectral line is obtained. The sensitivity of the wavelength and spectral width of the Tamm plasmon polariton to changes in the oxide film thickness, bulk concentration of a dopant, and angle of incidence is demonstrated.

Аннотация: The effect of the aluminum layer on the kinetics and mechanism of aluminum-induced crystallization (AIC) of amorphous silicon (a-Si) in (Al/a-Si)n multilayered films was studied using a complex of in situ methods (simultaneous thermal analysis, transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and four-point probe resistance measurement) and ex situ methods (X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy). An increase in the thickness of the aluminum layer from 10 to 80 nm was found to result in a decrease in the value of the apparent activation energy Ea of silicon crystallization from 137 to 117 kJ/mol (as estimated by the Kissinger method) as well as an increase in the crystallization heat from 12.3 to 16.0 kJ/(mol Si). The detailed kinetic analysis showed that the change in the thickness of an individual Al layer could lead to a qualitative change in the mechanism of aluminum-induced silicon crystallization: with the thickness of Al ≤ 20 nm. The process followed two parallel routes described by the n-th order reaction equation with autocatalysis (Cn-X) and the Avrami–Erofeev equation (An): with an increase in the thickness of Al ≥ 40 nm, the process occurred in two consecutive steps. The first one can be described by the n-th order reaction equation with autocatalysis (Cn-X), and the second one can be described by the n-th order reaction equation (Fn). The change in the mechanism of amorphous silicon crystallization was assumed to be due to the influence of the degree of Al defects at the initial state on the kinetics of the crystallization process.

Аннотация: Copper electrodeposited composite coatings containing two types of aluminum-oxide powders with different dispersities (alumina Al2O3-1 and electroexplosive aluminum-oxide nanopowder Al2O3-2) are obtained during the work. The studies show that introducing the powders leads to a change in the microstructure of the composites and a change in the grain growth principles during the formation of the coatings. Refinement and ordering of the grain structure of the coatings occurs and twinning defects and texture are formed. The change in the formation of the microstructure of the composites leads to a change in some operational characteristics: an increase in the microhardness (by 10% in the composites with the addition of alumina and by more than 30% in the coatings with electroexplosive aluminum oxide) and ultimate tensile strength (by 20% in the composites with Al2O3-1 and almost 1.5-fold in the samples with Al2O3-2).

Аннотация: Experimental and theoretical study of submillimeter (terahertz) spectroscopic and magnetic properties of the rare-earth aluminum borate HoAl3(BO3)4 were performed at temperatures 3–300K. In the transmittance spectra a number of resonance lines were detected at frequencies 2–35 cm–1 for different radiation polarizations. These modes were identified as transitions between the lower levels of the ground multiplet of the Ho3+ ion split by the crystal field, including both transitions from the ground state to the excited ones and transitions between the excited states. The established excitation conditions of the observed modes and the simulation of the spectra made it possible to separate the magnetic and electric dipole transitions and to determine the energies of the corresponding states, their symmetry, and the matrix elements of the transitions. Low-frequency lines that do not fit into the established picture of the electron states of Ho3+ were also found; these lines, apparently, correspond to the ions with the distorted by defects local symmetry of the crystal field.

The structure is synthesized via ion-plasma deposition and can be used as a tunnel heterostructure. Аннотация: To find out whether Al2O3 nanofiller is effective in improving the characteristics of polymer composites, composite polymer films based on biodegradable polylactide and epoxidized aluminum oxide nanofibers were obtained by solution casting. Surface morphology, mechanical and thermal properties of composites were studied by SEM, IR-Fourier spectroscopy, DSC and DMA. It was shown that, below and above the percolation threshold, the properties of the films differ significantly. The inclusion of alumina nanoparticles up to 0.2% leads to a plasticizing effect, a decrease in the crystallization temperature and the melting enthalpy and an increase in the tensile stress. An increase in the content of alumina nanoparticles in films above the percolation threshold (0.5%) leads to a decrease in the crystallinity of the films, an increase in stiffness and a drop in elasticity. Finding the percolation threshold of alumina nanoparticles in PLA films makes it possible to control their properties and create materials for various applications. The results of this study may have major significance for the commercial use of aluminum oxide nanofibers and can broaden the research field of composites.

Аннотация: Aluminum-doped zinc oxide thin films have been grown by atomic layer deposition at a temperature of 200°C. Using X-ray diffraction, it has been established that the ZnO:Al thin films exhibits the reflections from the (100), (002), (110), and (201) ZnO hexagonal phase planes. The (101) and (102) planes have also been detected by electron diffraction. The ZnO:Al thin films grow smooth with a root-mean-square roughness of Rq = 0.33 nm and characteristic nanocrystallite sizes of ~70 and ~15 nm without additional aluminum or aluminum oxide phases. The transmission at a wavelength of 550 nm with regard to the substrate has been found to be 96%. The refractive indices and absorption coefficients of the ZnO:Al thin films in the wavelength range of 250–900 nm have been determined. The maximum refractive indices and absorption coefficients have been found to be 2.09 at a wavelength of 335 nm and 0.39 at a wavelength of 295 nm, respectively. The optical band gap is 3.56 eV. The resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, and power factor of the ZnO:Al thin films are ∼1.02 × 10–3 Ω cm, –60 μV/K, and 340 μW m–1 K–2 at room temperature, respectively. The maximum power factor attains 620 μW m–1 K–2 at a temperature of 200°C.

Аннотация: A sequence of phases forming during the solid-phase reaction in Al/Pt bilayer thin films has been investigated by in situ electron diffraction. It is shown that the amorphous PtAl2 phase forms first during the solid-phase reaction initiated by heating. Upon further heating, PtAl2, Pt2Al3, PtAl, and Pt3Al crystalline phases sequentially form, which is qualitatively consistent with an effective formation heat model. The content of phases forming during the reaction has been quantitatively analyzed and the structural phase transformations have been examined.

Аннотация: The state of iron in nanoparticles prepared by impregnating silica gel and aluminum oxide with iron(II) sulfate solutions has been investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy. It has been revealed that the state of iron depends on the nature of the support. Iron(III) hydroxysulfate and iron(III) oxysulfate nanoparticles are formed on the surface of silica gel, and iron oxide nanoparticles are formed on the surface of aluminum oxide. An increase in the concentration of iron ions or in the size of iron-containing particles leads to hydration of the nanoparticle surface. The calcination of the samples results in the formation of E -Fe2O3 oxide in a strongly disordered or amorphous state in iron-containing particles on the surface of silica gel.

Аннотация: Solid-phase reactions taking place in Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) and Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) film systems under conditions of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) are investigated. In both systems, SHS products exhibit the single CoAl superstructure, which epitaxially grows on the MgO(001) surface in the Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) structures and has a fine-dispersed disordered structure in the Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) films. It appears that the difference in the reagent structure has an effect on the energy of activation but does not change the SHS initiation temperature and the temperature at which the initial phase involved in the reaction products nucleates. It is shown that the SHS initiation temperature in the Al/beta-Co/MgO(001) and Al/alpha-Co/MgO(001) systems coincides with the temperature of CoAl superstructure ordering. Аннотация: For the first time the problem of determining real composition and structure of manganese ferrite nanoparticles dispersed borate glasses is solved using differentiating dissolution and high-resolution X-ray electron microscopy techniques. For the first time the nanosize effect of aluminum incorporation in manganese ferrite composition is experimentally shown, thus directly confirming the hypothesis of Al participation in exchange interaction between paramagnetic Fe and Mn ions as diamagnetic diluter.

Аннотация: In situ Raman spectroscopy is used to study the behavior of synthetic carbonate–aluminosilicate hydro-cancrinite Na6Ca2[(OH,CO3)2 Al6Si6O24]·2H2O compressed in an aqueous medium up to 1.6 GPa at 500°C. It is found that hydro-cancrinite retains its crystal structure up to 1.5 GPa and 300°C. It then amorphizes as the temperature rises, partially dissolves, and decomposes into two main products: nepheline and a scheelite-like compound.

Аннотация: A comparative study was performed of the low-temperature high-resolution absorption spectra of the Yb3+ probe in R1−xYbxAl3(BO3)4 (R = Y, Tm, Lu) crystals grown by flux technique independently in four different laboratories using different solvents. We show that the incorporation of solvent components into the crystal in the course of crystallization gives rise to spectral satellites of the Yb3+ 0(2F7/2) → 0′(2F5/2) absorption lines and assign particular satellites to the Yb3+ centers near the bismuth and molybdenum impurities (which decrease the transparency of YAB in the UV spectral range). We suggest this spectroscopic method for a rapid analysis of the quality of UV laser crystals and for improvement of growth technologies.

Аннотация: High-optical-quality single crystals of the TmAl3(BO3)(4) compound were synthesized from a solution in the melt. The absorption spectra in the sigma and pi polarizations for the H-3(6) - F-3(4), H-3(6) - H-3(5), H-3(6) - H-3(4), H-3(6) - F-3(3), H-3(6) - F-3(2), H-3(6) - (1)G(4), and H-3(6) - D-1(2) transitions in the Tm3+ ion were recorded at room temperature. The transition intensities were analyzed in the framework of the Judd-Ofelt theory generalized to the case of anisotropic crystals, and the following parameters of the theory were obtained: Omega(2) = 6.14 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega(4) = 3.09 x 10(-20) cm(2), and Omega(6) = 2.04 x 10(-20) cm(2). The lifetimes and the branching ratios were determined for all possible transitions.

Аннотация: Mostly forsaken, but revived after the emergence of all-dielectric nanophotonics, the Kerker effect can be observed in a variety of nanostructures from high-index constituents with strong electric and magnetic Mie resonances. A necessary requirement for the existence of a magnetic response limits the use of generally nonmagnetic conventional plasmonic nanostructures for the Kerker effect. In spite of this, we demonstrate here the emergence of the lattice Kerker effect in regular plasmonic Al nanostructures. Collective lattice oscillations emerging from the delicate interplay between Rayleigh anomalies and localized surface plasmon resonances both of electric and magnetic dipoles, and electric and magnetic quadrupoles result in suppression of the backscattering in a broad spectral range. Variation of geometrical parameters of Al arrays allows for tailoring the lattice Kerker effect throughout UV and visible wavelength ranges, which is close to impossible to achieve using other plasmonic or all-dielectric materials. It is argued that our results set the ground for wide ramifications in the plasmonics and further application of the Kerker effect.

Аннотация: Pulsed-field gradient NMR spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging methods were used to investigate water suspensions of nanosized fibers of aluminum oxide and ice composite materials based on these fibers. Introduction of the nanofibers was shown to have no noticeable structural effect in the suspensions in the Al2O3 concentration range of 1-10 wt %. High content of the filler was found to change the morphology and texture of the ice matrix in the composites remarkably: it becomes more homogeneous and acquires a higher degree of continuity; the melting front does not visualize internal melting zones or integrity defects in the composite. At the same time, addition of the nanofibers to the ice composites weakly influences the quantitative dynamics of the heat transfer, which is manifested in close values of the propagation speeds of the freezing/melting front in the samples at similar temperatures.
