Аннотация: An electrically conducting two-component BeO-ceramic with the addition of micro- and nano-crystalline TiO2 powder is prepared that can be used as a material for scattered microwave radiation absorption in high-power electronic devices. The nature of the occurrence of electrical conductivity and absorption of the microwave field in (BeO + TiO2)-ceramics is not completely established. Impedance spectroscopy is used for the first time to investigate the electrical and dielectric characteristics of this ceramic in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 100 MHz in relation to presence of micro- and nano-sized TiO2 phase within the BeO ceramic composition. It is established that the static resistance of ceramics with addition of a TiO2 nanopowder is significantly reduced compared with the resistance of original ceramic with TiO2 micropowder. It is shown that real and imaginary components of the dielectric constant of the ceramic studied increase to abnormally large values with a reduction in frequency of the effective electric field, and in the high frequency range f ≥ 108 Hz the process of dielectric relaxation commences leading to an increase in dielectric loss angle. Dielectric properties of ceramic samples are determined under blocking conditions for through conduction. The effect of TiO2 micropowder additions on dielectric polarization processes with frequency increasing up to 12 × 109 Hz is considered.

Аннотация: Results are presented from studying the X-ray diffraction, heat capacities, dielectric permittivities, and coefficients of the volumetric thermal expansion of composite materials obtained by embedding of Rb2ZnCl4 salt into the porous matrices of borosilicate glass with average pore diameters of 46 and 320 nm in the temperature range of 120–350 K. The temperatures of transitions to the incommensurate and ferroelectric phases are determined, along with the freezing temperature of the mobility of domain boundaries in Rb2ZnCl4 particles. A substantial increase in their Curie temperature is observed.

Аннотация: Настоящее исследование направлено на получение электропроводной двухкомпонентной керамики на основе ВеО с добавками микро- и нанокристаллического порошка TiO2. Керамика состава (BeO+TiO2) находит применение в радиоэлектронной технике в качестве эффективных поглотителей СВЧ-излучения и в других областях современной электроники. Природа возникновения электрической проводимости и поглощения СВЧ-поля в (ВеО+TiO2)керамике окончательно не установлена. Методом импедансной спектроскопии впервые исследованы электрические и диэлектрические характеристики данной керамики в диапазоне частот от 100 Hz до 100 МHz в зависимости от присутствия в составе керамики ВеО микро- и наноразмерной фазы TiO2. Установлено, что статическое сопротивление керамики с добавкой нанопорошка оксида титана существенно уменьшается по сравнению с сопротивлением исходной керамики с микропорошком TiO2. Показано, что действительная и мнимая компоненты диэлектрической проницаемости исследуемых керамик возрастают до аномально больших величин при понижении частоты действующего электрического поля, а в области высоких частот f ≥ 10 8 Hz начинается процесс диэлектрической релаксации, приводящий к росту тангенса угла диэлектрических потерь. Определены диэлектрические характеристики данных образцов керамик в условиях блокирования сквозной проводимости.The present study is aimed at obtaining electrically conductive two-component ceramics based on BeO with the addition of micro and nanocrystalline TiO2 powder. The ceramics of the composition (BeO+TiO2) is used in radio-electronic equipment as effective absorbers of microwave radiation and in other areas of modern electronics. The nature of the appearance of electrical conductivity and absorption of the microwave field in (BeO+TiO2) ceramics has not been completely established. The impedance spectroscopy method for the first time investigated the electrical and dielectric characteristics of this ceramics in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 100 MHz, depending on the presence of micro and nano-sized TiO2 phases in the composition of the BeO ceramics. It was established that the static resistance of ceramics with the addition of titanium oxide nanopowder is significantly reduced compared with the resistance of the original ceramics with TiO2 micropowder. It is shown that the real and imaginary components of the dielectric constant of the studied ceramics increase to abnormally large values when the frequency of the effective electric field decreases, and in the high frequency range f ≥ 10 8 Hz, the process of dielectric relaxation begins, leading to an increase in the dielectric loss tangent. The dielectric characteristics of these ceramic samples under conditions of blocking through conduction are determined.

Аннотация: Currently, phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LEDs) are revolutionizing the industry of plant growth lighting. To meet the requirements of this technology, phosphors with tunable photoluminescence, high thermal stability and luminous intensity are required. Herein, we found that the simple substitution of yttrium for lanthanum in La2MgTiO6:Mn4+ (LMT:Mn4+) system could satisfy above three criteria simultaneously. The photoluminescence properties can be regulated by continuously controlling the chemical composition of La2-xYxMgTiO6:Mn4+ solid solution. The La sites are occupied by Y ions, causing a significant blue shift in the emission spectra which owing to the change of local crystal field strengthen. Meanwhile, the thermal stability and decay lifetimes are also varied due to the variation of local structure and band gap energy. The thermal stability of the material reaches 83.5% at 150 °C, which is better than the reported La2MgTiO6:Mn4+ and Y2MgTiO6:Mn4+ phosphors. The electronic luminescence (EL) of pc-LED devices using La2-xYxMgTiO6:Mn4+ red phosphor is evaluated, which matching the absorption regions of plant pigments well, reflecting the superiority of the studied phosphors in plant growth lighting areas.

Аннотация: The temperature dependencies of position, width, and integral amplitude the E(TO) line near 307 cm−1 in Raman spectra in barium titanate powders with different non-hydrostatic pressure and temperature treatment were studied. It was found that parameters of the E(TO) line near 307 cm−1 are different in the crystal, the untreated powder, the powder treated by the non-hydrostatic pressure, and the powder annealed after the pressure treatment. The line width (FWHM) increase with temperature according to Klemens model. It indicates that the origin of the line broadening is the anharmonicity of the E(TO) phonons. The pressure treatment changes the anharmonicity of the phonon potential. It was found that the temperature dependence of the integral intensity of the E(TO) line is similar to that of the second optical harmonic signal and reflects the presence of the local polar regions. Thus, the E(TO) line in the Raman spectrum allows one to characterize the average polarity of local regions and their anharmonicity depending on non-hydrostatic pressures and thermal treatment.

Аннотация: Experimental study of temperature-pressure phase diagrams revealed a slight difference in the sensitivity to hydrostatic pressure of triglycine sulfate (TGS) as a bulk (single crystal, ceramics), and nanoparticles embedded in porous glass (TGS + PG). An analysis of the pressure sensitivity, dT0/p and dT0/dσ, and entropies of the P21 ↔ P21/m phase transition showed the closeness of the barocaloric parameters in various materials under study. Due to the strong anisotropy of thermal expansion, the piezocaloric effect under pressure along the axis c exceeds the barocaloric effect in single-crystal TGS. The reasons for the strong reduction in the electrocaloric effect in the ferroelectric component of nanocomposites compared with a single-crystal are discussed.

Аннотация: As one of the key elements of indoor agriculture, horticultural light sources are developing rapidly towards requiring high energy density, high output power and high stability, which poses a challenge for traditional phosphor conversion devices. To address this, an all-inorganic blue-red dual-emitting light convertor consisting of Ba1.3Sr1.7MgSi2O8:Eu2+,Mn2+ (BSMS) phosphor-in-glass (PiG) plates was prepared to improve the duration lifetime of converted high-power light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and meet the light quality requirements of photosynthesis for indoor agriculture. The obtained samples show an external quantum efficiency of 45.3%, outstanding thermal stability and a specific emission spectrum that highly matches the absorption of chlorophyll and β-carotene. Moreover, a proof-of-concept BSMS-PiG horticultural lamp for application in an indoor plant factory was successfully fabricated based on a ∼370 nm emitting LED chip. The blue-red ratio of its spectrum could be regulated by controlling the thickness of BSMS-PiG and the concentrations of Mn2+ ions within BSMS-PiG. The BSMS-PiG horticultural LEDs were applied to the indoor cultivation of Romaine lettuce. The results indicated that the biomass of Romaine lettuce was 58.21% greater than that of control lettuce samples cultivated under commercial plant lamps. In particular, the content values of total chlorophyll, β-carotene and soluble protein were improved. The BSMS-PiG horticultural LED is a potential candidate to act as a high-power horticultural light source.

Аннотация: The thermoelectric properties of the NdCoO3 and SmCoO3 rare-earth cobalt oxides with a perovskite structure have been investigated in a wide temperature range. It is shown that, in the low-temperature region, the thermal conductivity of the compounds has a sharp maximum and the electrical conductivity of the samples increases with temperature, whereas the Seebeck coefficient behaves nonmonotonically with increasing temperature. The SmCoO3 oxide is characterized by the positive thermopower over the entire investigated range with a sharp growth in the low-temperature region, attaining the maximum value (S ≈ 1000 μV/K) near room temperature, and a further decrease. It has been established that, in the NdCoO3 oxide, the Seebeck coefficient changes its sign, which was rarely observed in the La-based compounds and is atypical of the undoped rare-earth cobalt oxides. The thermopower maximum obtained at a temperature of 450 K is 400 μV/K. The regions of the fastest growth of the thermoelectric power factor correspond to the anomalies caused by the spin transition of Со3+ ions and the dielectric–metal transition.

Аннотация: A novel method for synthesizing a new metamaterial based on ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticles immobilized in the xerogel matrix was proposed. Samples with different contents of ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticles dispersed in silica xerogel were synthesized by impregnation of as prepared hydrogel with iron (II) salts with the subsequent calcination. The structure and magnetic properties of the prepared composites were studied by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and static magnetic measurements. The absence of other iron oxide polymorphs, controllable particle size distribution, and high ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticle concentration in combination with the weak interparticle magnetic interactions ensured the preservation of the unique magnetic properties of individual ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and allowed us to obtain a novel metamaterial. The high optical transparency and homogeneity of the prepared composites made it possible to detect the magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) of the magnetic silica xerogel, which is typical of the ε-Fe2O3-based systems.

Аннотация: We report on the behavior of frequency and temperature dependences of the impedance of a measuring cell in the form of a parallel-plate capacitor filled with barium hexaaluminate ceramics with four aluminum cations replaced by iron (BaO · 2Fe2O3 · 4Al2O3). The measurements have been performed in the frequency range of 0.5–108 Hz at temperatures of 20-375°C. A technique for determining the electrical properties of the investigated ceramics is proposed, which is based on an equivalent electric circuit allowing the recorded impedance spectra to be approximated with sufficiently high accuracy. The established spectral features are indicative of the presence of two electric relaxation times different from each other by three orders of magnitude. This fact is explained by the difference between the charge transport processes in the bulk of crystallites and thin intercrystallite spacers, for which the charge activation energies have been determined.

Аннотация: Tb0.985Ce0.015)3(Al1-xGax)5O12 garnet phosphors (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 1.0) were prepared by calcining their coprecipitated precursors in air at 1500 °C, followed by reduction in hydrogen at 1200 °C. Rietveld refinement of the XRD results suggested that the Ga dopant predominantly resides at the octahedral Al site of the garnet lattice. Ga doping led to linearly expanded lattice constant, cell volume and theoretical density of the garnet compound and successively lower intensity and longer average fluorescence lifetime of the ~ 570 nm emission of Ce3+. Blue shifted emission and 4f(2F5/2)→5d1(E2g) excitation and red shifted 4f(2F5/2)→5d2(E2g) excitation were also observed for the Ce3+ activator at a higher Ga content. The phenomena were interpreted by considering the band structure of the host, distortion of the CeO8 polyhedron, and centroid shift and field splitting of the Ce3+ 5d energy levels.

Аннотация: The effect of substitution of Sr2+ ions for Gd3+ ions on the phase composition, electrical resistivity, thermoelectricity, and thermal conductivity of rare-earth cobalt oxides Gd1-xSrxCoO3-δ (x = 0.8 and 0.9) has been investigated. It has been determined that at the investigated strontium concentrations, the single-phase disordered nonstoichiometric cubic perovskites and superstructures with ordered Sr2+/Gd3+ ions and anion vacancies can be formed. The influence of ordering/disordering of Gd and Sr cations over crystal-lattice A- sites on the thermoelectric figure of merit and sample stability at high temperatures has been studied. The thermoelectric figure of merit of the disordered samples was found to exceed by far the analogous parameter of the ordered samples, which allows us to consider the disordering as a way of improving the thermoelectric parameters. Two contributions to the conductivities are discussed: high-temperature thermoactivation and low-temperatures variable range hopping. The parameters of the Mott electronic structure, including DOS N(εF), hopping energy ε (the energy of hopping conductivity activation), and hopping length Rh, have been estimated.

Аннотация: Temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient of the Re0.2Sr0.8CoO3‒δ (Re = Gd, Dy) complex cobalt oxides in the temperature range of 300 – 800 K have been investigated. The effects of ordering in the cation and anion sublattices on the thermoelectric properties has been examined and their comparative analysis has been made. It was found that, in the investigated temperature range, the thermoelectric power factor of the ordered compounds significantly exceeds the analogous parameter of the disordered samples. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity was shown to obey the activation law. As the temperature increases, the samples undergo a semiconductor-semiconductor electronic transition with a decrease in the activation energy. The thermoelectric properties of all the samples are shown to be stable in the investigated temperature range. The maximum thermoelectric power factor of the ordered Dy0.2Sr0.8CoO2.67 cobaltite at a temperature of 360 K has been obtained; it amounts to 0.23 µW/(cm·K2), which is a good parameter for this class of materials.

Аннотация: Here we present Raman spectroscopy approach to monitor the spatial distribution and the magnitude of the residual mechanical stresses in ceramic after non-hydrostatic pressure treatments. The residual pressure can be found from the E-phonon line shift (∼307 cm−1) in the Raman spectra. The relationship between the non-hydrostatic pressure (up to 11 GPa) and the shift of this line has been established. It is demonstrated that the change in the Raman line position (1332 cm−1) of the diamond anvil can be used for monitoring of applied non-hydrostatic pressures. A linear dependence of residual mechanical stresses on the applied pressures is found. Micro-Raman spectroscopy shows that the residual mechanical stresses are distributed fairly uniformly in the studied BaTiO3 samples at the micron scale. In the future, the proposed Raman technique can be used for monitoring the quality of produced BaTiO3 ceramics.
