Аннотация: Composites HTSC + normal metal with magnetic and nonmagnetic impurities have been prepared. Transport properties of these composites have been studied. Supercurrent in the composites is weakened by magnetic impurities in greater degree than by nonmagnetic ones. It indicates that carriers in HTSC with 1-2-3 structure are mostly the conventional singlet pairs.

Аннотация: Composites HTSC + semiconductor with different carrier concentrations were prepared as a model of Josephson type contacts. Experimental temperature dependences of the critical current density Jc(T) in the composites are presented. The best congruence of experiment with theory was reached for the Schussler-Kummel consideration of Andreev scattering in S-Sm-S (S-superconductor, Sm-semiconductor) junctions.

Аннотация: We present results of an experimental study of the effect of magnetic scattering centers (nickel) in the insulator component (cuprous oxide) of the composite HTSC+Cu1-xNixO on its transport properties. A suppression of the superconducting properties of this system is observed to take place with increasing nickel content. Аннотация: Bulk composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+NiTiO3 and Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+MgTiO3 with insulator volume content 7.5% and 15% modelling a network of Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor (S-I-S) junctions have been prepared. The ?(T) dependences of composites HTSC+MgTiO3 are described well by the mechanism of Thermally Activated Phase Slippage (TAPS). The anomalous behavior of resistivity ?(T) of HTSC+NiTiO3 composites manifesting as a kink on ?(T) curves at some temperature Tm have been observed. In the temperature range Tm < T < TC the dissipation is Ohmic while below Tm the CVCs are strongly non-linear. This peculiarity is interpreted as arisen owing to Abrikosov vortices flow.

Аннотация: The preparation., processing and characterization of the composite materials on high-T-c superconductor (HTSC) basis, YBa2Cu3O7/Ag and Y0.75Lu0.25Ba2Cu3O7/BaPbO3, is reported. The initial components YBa2Cu3O7 and BaPbO3 were prepared by the standard solid state reaction technique. The microstructures of the samples were observed by scanning electron microscopy. whilst the XRD paterns of the composites HTSC+Ag and HTSC+BaPbO3 revealed the 123 superconducting phase and the Ag or BaPbO3 structure. The chemical compositions of the powders and the interface zone were found by employing energy dispersive spectrometry. The resistive and magnetic measurements of the composites indicated the transition temperature 93.5 K. Application of such composite materials in the construction of a superconducting fault current limiter model is reported. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The results of the study of transport properties (temperature dependences of resistivity and critical current, current-voltage characteristics) of two-phase composites on the basis of Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) produced by fast baking technique and modelling networks of Josephson-type weak links are reported. Non-superconducting ingredients with different magnetic structures, insulators and normal metals, function as barriers between HTSC crystallites. Besides strong suppression of superconducting properties in HTSC composites with magnetic barriers, anomalous behavior of temperature dependences of resistivity below T-c of HTSC grains have been observed and investigated.

Аннотация: We have studied the magnetoresistive effect in bulk 1-2-3 YBCO + CuO and 1-2-3 YBCO + BaPb1-xSnxO3 composites prepared using the fast backing technique. We have found that the composites exhibit large magnetoresistance in low magnetic fields (< 100 Oe) for a broad temperature range. We have studied the experimental dependences of resistivity versus magnetic field at various transport current densities. The high-T-C superconductor (HTSC) based composites exhibit a much higher sensitivity to weak magnetic fields at liquid nitrogen temperature, compared to that for pure HTSC ceramics. This effect is attractive for practical applications and the composite materials can be used as active elements in magnetic field sensor devices.

Аннотация: The experimental results of the effect of the magnetic field (up to 60 kOe) on the broadening of the resistive transition of bulk composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2CU3O7 (YBCO) + CuO are presented. These composites represent the network of the tunnel-type Josephson junctions where the copper oxide acts as a material forming barriers between YBCO crystallites. The mechanisms responsible for broadening of the resistive transition under magnetic field are discussed. The analysis of experimental R(7) dependences have shown that in the low field range 0-10(2) Oe, the R(7) dependences are described well by the Ambegaokar-Halperin (AH) model. In the range 10(3)-6 x 10(4) Oe, the dissipation follows Arrhenius law R similar to exp(-U(H)/k(B)T) characteristic for thermally activated flux creep model. In the range H similar to 10(2)-10(3), the crossover from AH to flux creep dissipation mechanisms occurs. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: Hysterestic behavior of the magnetoresistance of granular HTSCs and its interaction with the magnetic hysteresis are studied by measuring magnetoresistance R(H) and critical current I-c(H) of composites formed by HTSC Y0.75Lu0.25Ba2CU3O7 and CuO. A network of Josephson junctions is formed in such composites, in which the nonsuperconducting component plays the role of barriers between HTSC grains. Hysteretic dependences R(H) of magnetoresistance are studied in a wide range of transport current density j and are analyzed in the framework of the two-level model of a granular superconductor, in which dissipation takes place in the Josephson medium and the magnetic flux can be pinned both in grains and in the Josephson medium. The interrelation between the hysteresis of critical current I-c(H) and the evolution of the hysterestic dependence R(H) of the magnetoresistance upon transport current variation is demonstrated experimentally. The effect of the magnetic past history on the hysteretic behavior of R(H) and the emergence of a segment with a negative magnetoresistance are analyzed. It is shown for the first time that the R(H) dependences are characterized by a parameter that is independent of the transport current, viz., the width of the R(H) hysteresis loop.

Аннотация: Magnetic and magnetoelectric properties of ferroborate single crystals with complex composition (Tb1 - x Er (x) Fe-3(BO3)(4), x = 0, 0.75) and with competing exchange Tb-Fe and Er-Fe interactions are investigated. Jumps in electric polarization, magnetostriction, and magnetization are observed as a result of spin-flop transitions, as well as a considerable decrease in the critical field upon an increase in the Er concentration, in a field H (c) parallel to the c axis. The observed behavior of phase-transition fields is analyzed and explained using a simple model taking into account anisotropy in g factors and exchange splitting of funda-mental doublets of the easy-axis Tb3+ ion and easy-plane Er3+ ion. It is established that magnetoelectric and magnetostriction anomalies under spin-flop transitions are mainly controlled by the Tb subsystem. The Tb subsystem makes a nonmonotonic contribution Delta P (a) (H (a) , T) to polarization along the a axis: the value of Delta P (a) reverses its sign and increases with temperature due to the contribution from the excited states of the Tb3+ ion.

Аннотация: A composite based on superhigh-molecular poly(ethylene) and tungsten trioxide nanoparticles has been synthesized using the activation method. Tungsten nanoparticles have been prepared using the plasmachemical method and then oxidized in air. The particle size is 48 +/- 7 nm. It has been established that the addition of tungsten nanoparticles to superhigh-molecular poly(ethylene) brings about changes in the arrangement of hydrocarbon chains in the structure, which leads to an improvement of the strength characteristics of the products.

Dependencies of fullerene doped B2O3 films permittivity on temperature and humidity are given. Introduction of fullerenes results in approximately linear temperature dependence of permittivity

Аннотация: Composite nanoparticles consisting of magnesium, nickel, and carbon atoms are studied both theoretically and experimentally. The calculations performed in terms of the density functional theory show that the jump frequency of hydrogen atoms in nickel-containing magnesium hydride increases substantially near impurity nickel atoms; as a result, the rate of hydrogen absorption by magnesium also increases. Nickel on the magnesium surface is shown to be absorbed via an island growth mechanism. Composite Mg-C, Ni-C, and Mg-Ni-C powders are produced by plasmachemical synthesis in a carbon-helium plasma stream. Hydrogen is introduced into a chamber during synthesis. It is found by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis that, among these three composites, only Mg-Ni-C contains magnesium fixed in the MgH2 compound. The process of such "ultrarapid" hydrogenation of magnesium, which occurs in the time of formation of composite nanoparticles, can be explained by the catalytic action of nickel, which is enhanced by a high temperature. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs demonstrate the dynamics of the dehydrogenation of Mg-Ni-C composite nanoparticles in heating by an electron beam.

Аннотация: Разработан композиционный материал на основе полимера, жидкого кристалла (ЖК) и ионного сурфактанта, характеризующийся оптической мультистабильностью и механической гибкостью. Оптические свойства данного материала варьируются за счет переключения капель холестерического ЖК между различными структурными состояниями, остающимися стабильными после выключения управляющего электрического сигнала. Функциональным инструментом для управления ориентационной структурой капель холестерика внешним электрическим полем является наноразмерный слой ионного сурфактанта. Подобраны параметры электрических сигналов, переключающих капли в новые стабильные состояния, а также возвращающих их в исходную радиальную структуру.
A composite material based on polymer, liquid crystal and ionic surfactant is developed, which is characterized by the optical multistability and mechanical flexibility. Optical properties of the material are varied by switching the cholesteric droplets between different structural states remaining stable after breaking the control electrical signal. Functional tool to control the orientational structure of cholesteric droplets by an external electric field is a nanosized layer of ionic surfactant. The parameters of electrical signals switching the droplets in new stable states and returning them in the initial radial structure are chosen.

Аннотация: The properties of Co-SiO2 nanogranular composite films, containing a Co volume fraction ranging from 0.3 to 0.8, have been characterized by means of magnetic measurements, NMR study, and ferromagnetic resonance. Thermal decrease of CoX(SiO2)100-X magnetization follows the T3/2 law and allows to estimate the exchange interaction constant A. With growing nominal Co content the transitions from granular to continuous structural state at 36% Co are registered by FMR measurements. The spectrum of standing spin-wave has been detected in the perpendicular experiment configuration for films with the Co content above 52 vol. %. It is found that the type of the dispersion relation of spin waves in Co-SiO2 composite films is affected by the exchange coupling fluctuations.
