Аннотация: A new method for the quantitative estimate of the phase composition of a multiphase ferromagnetic alloy is suggested that is based on measuring the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization. The phase composition of ultrafine Co-P powders is characterized. Phase diagrams of nonequilibrium Co-P solid solutions are constructed on particle size, i.e., the phosphorus concentration coordinates.

Аннотация: Synthesis of P(3HB-co-3HV-co-4HV) copolymers by the wild-type strain Cupriavidus necator B-10646 on fructose or sodium butyrate as the main C-substrate with the addition of γ-valerolactone as a precursor of 3HV and 4HV monomers was studied. Bacterial cells were cultivated in the modes that enabled production of a series of copolymers with molar fractions of 3HV (from 7.3 to 23.4 mol.%) and 4HV (from 1.9 to 4.7 mol.%) with bacterial biomass concentration (8.2 ± 0.2 g/L) and PHA content (80 ± 2%). Using HPLC, DTA, DSC, X-Ray, SEM, and AFM, the physicochemical properties of copolymers and films prepared from them have been investigated as dependent on proportions of monomers. Copolymers are characterized by a reduced degree of crystallinity (Cx 38–49%) molecular weight characteristics Mn (45–87 kDa), and Mw (201–248 kDa) compared with P(3HB). The properties of the films surface of various composition including the porosity and surface roughness were studied. Most of the samples showed a decrease in the average pore area and an increase in their number with a total increase in 3HV and 4HV monomers. The results allow scaling up the productive synthesis of P(3HB-co-3HV-co-4HV) copolymers using Cupriavidus necator B-10646.

Аннотация: The study addresses the growth of the wild-type strain Cupriavidus necator B-10646 and the synthesis of sulfur-containing polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) by this strain on media containing fructose and three different precursors (3-mercaptopropionic acid, 3′,3′-dithiodipropionic acid and 3′,3′-thiodipropionic acid). By varying the concentration and number of doses of the precursors added into the bacterial culture, it was possible to find conditions that ensure the formation of 3-mercaptopropionate (3MP) monomers from the precursors and their incorporation into the C-chain of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate). A series of P(3HB-co-3MP) copolymer samples with different content of 3MP monomers (from 2.04 to 39.0 mol.%) were synthesized and the physicochemical properties were studied. The effect of 3MP monomers is manifested in a certain decrease in the molecular weight of the samples and an increase in polydispersity. Temperature changes are manifested in the appearance of two peaks in the melting region with different intervals regardless of the 3MP content. The studied P(3HB-co-3MP) samples, regardless of the content of 3MP monomers, are characterized by equalization of the ratio of the amorphous and crystalline phases and have a close degree of crystallinity with a minimum of 42%, = and a maximum of 54%.

Аннотация: Three results are presented. First, we prove the existence of a universal 7-cluster structure in all 143 completely sequenced bacterial genomes available in Genbank in August 2004, and explained its properties. The 7-cluster structure is responsible for the main part of sequence heterogeneity in bacterial genomes. In this sense, our 7 clusters is the basic model of bacterial genome sequence. We demonstrated that there are four basic "pure" types of this model, observed in nature: "parallel triangles", "perpendicular triangles", degenerated case and the flower-like type. Second, we answered the question: how big are the position-specific information and the contribution connected with correlations between nucleotide. The accuracy of the mean-field (context-free) approximation is estimated for bacterial genomes. We show that codon us-age of bacterial genomes is a multi-linear function of their genomic G+C-content with high accuracy (more precisely, by two similar functions, one for eubacterial genomes and the other one for archaea). Description of these two codon-usage trajectories is the third result. Аннотация: The comparison between the magnetic properties of materials with different curvature and spatial distribution of nanograins, such as particles (3D spatial distribution) and multilayer films (2D) was carried out. Functionally graded Co(P)/Ni(P) and Co(P)/CoNi(P) specimens have been fabricated by electroless deposition. The magnetic and structural properties are characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. It was demonstrated that the interaction between the Ni(P) core and Co(P) shell of particles could form the functionally graded materials with tailored structure and coercive force. Furthermore, it was found that the magnetic parameters (the local anisotropy field, ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, and coercivity) are mainly determined by the artificially created interface boundaries for all grains’ spatial distribution. The magnetic anisotropy field and coercivity of Co(P)/Ni(P) flat films were characterized by lower values than those for spherical shell of particles with the same composition, produced by the same method.

Аннотация: The Mössbauer spectroscopy method was used to study the ligand microstructure of natural arsenopyrite (31 specimens) from the ores of the major gold deposits of the Yenisei Ridge (Eastern Siberia, Russia). Arsenopyrite and native gold are paragenetic minerals in the ore; meanwhile, arsenopyrite is frequently a gold carrier. We detected iron positions with variable distribution of sulfur and arsenic anions at the vertexes of the coordination octahedron {6S}, {5S1As}, {4S2As}, {3S3As}, {2S4As}, {1S5As}, {6As} in the mineral structure. Iron atoms with reduced local symmetry in tetrahedral cavities, as well as iron in the high-spin condition with a high local symmetry of the first coordination sphere, were identified. The configuration {3S3As} typical for the stoichiometric arsenopyrite is the most occupied. The occupation degree of other configurations is not subordinated to the statistic distribution and varies within a wide range. The presence of configurations {6S}, {3S3As}, {6As} and their variable occupation degree indicate that natural arsenopyrites are solid pyrite {6S}, arsenopyrite {3S3As}, and loellingite {6As} solutions, with the thermodynamic preference to the formation of configurations in the arsenopyrite–pyrite–loellingite order. It is assumed that in the variations as part of the coordination octahedron, the iron output to the tetrahedral positions and the presence of high-spin Fe cations depend on the physical and chemical conditions of the mineral formation. It was identified that the increased gold concentrations are typical for arsenopyrites with an elevated content of sulfur or arsenic and correlate with the increase of the occupation degree of configurations {5S1As}, {4S2As}, {1S5As}, reduction of the share of {3S3As}, and the amount of iron in tetrahedral cavities.

Аннотация: The discovery of lead-free double perovskites provides a feasible way of searching for air-stable and environmentally benign solar cell absorbers. Herein we report the design and hydrothermal crystal growth of double perovskite Cs2AgInCl6. The crystal structure, morphology related to the crystal growth habit, band structure, optical properties, and stability are investigated in detail. This perovskite crystallized in a cubic unit cell with the space group Fm3m and is composed of [AgCl6] and [InCl6] octahedra alternating in a ordered rock-salt structure, and the as-obtained crystal size is dependent on the hydrothermal reaction time. Cs2AgInCl6 is a direct gap semiconductor with a wide band gap of 3.23 eV obtained experimentally and 3.33 eV obtained by DFT calculation. This theoretically predicted and experimentally confirmed optical gap is a prototype of the band gaps that are direct and optically allowed except at the single high-symmetry k-point, which didn't raise interest before but have potential applications in future technologies. Cs2AgInCl6 material with excellent moisture, light and heat stability shows great potential for photovoltaic and other optoelectronic applications via further band gap engineering. © 2017 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
